Indeed, it was built by the catholic church after the events of the "Croisade des Albigeois", a crusade leaded by the catholic kings against the Cathars. The Catholic church had to show its power, its strength to the population, that's why they chose to build a cathedral which looks like a fortress. :)
It's really a wonder! 10/10 :)
