Imperfect Ending August 13th, 2004, 07:48 AM looks nice and skinny
teau August 13th, 2004, 06:51 PM Northern skyline of Bangkok would be nicer!
rayman August 13th, 2004, 07:09 PM yeah but that area will not be seen often after donmuang close down
pon August 13th, 2004, 07:34 PM yeah but that area will not be seen often after donmuang close down
Yes, indeed.
:ohno:
Hitesh August 14th, 2004, 04:17 AM yeah but that area will not be seen often after donmuang close down
Don Muang is not closing down. Its becoming a low cost carrier terminal and an aircraft maintainance center.
Lots of people go to that area even if theyre not travelling to the airport as well. Students, workers etc.
Chad August 14th, 2004, 04:20 AM If u go toward to the city center, u cant really see this building anyway...since it's almost fully blocked by The Shinawatra III Tower.

Chad August 14th, 2004, 05:04 PM unless u are travelling on Nok Air, One-2-Go, AirAsia, Valuair, Tiger Airways, or any of those new budget carriers that are being launched every month.
Actually Hitest, according to the Government, they havnt made any decision on the future of Don Muang yet....but Mr. Priminister saids last time when he visit' the site (last week) he saids he wants all airlines including low-cost to use NBIA.
Jo August 16th, 2004, 02:20 AM YAY! I've been waiting for this one to resume construction for a looong time!
I hope we'll get a bunch of new skyscrapers halfway out to NBIA also :)

Jo September 26th, 2004, 02:09 PM There are actually nice towers in that area, they often put the downtown scrapers to shame. Must be thanks to the airport?!

Chad September 27th, 2004, 04:44 PM I think this tower will be "black and red"......It's just my two cents....

BKKinTO September 22nd, 2005, 05:16 PM glassy indeed. !!!
Pas September 23rd, 2005, 04:29 AM Awesome! especially the curved glass facade.
Mosaic September 23rd, 2005, 08:12 AM it turns out to be better than I anticipated.
Arewethereyet? September 23rd, 2005, 08:33 AM this building should be located at Sathon road.It would be cool..
Mosaic September 23rd, 2005, 08:56 AM Northern corridor needs more high-rise building to creat an impressive skyline.

rayman September 23rd, 2005, 10:23 AM many good looking scrapers in this area. Too bad many people will not see them now when they gonna change the airport.

rayman September 23rd, 2005, 01:04 PM and I love it too :D
makes the city feel massive, cool,BIG city feeling and modern.
If you came to Bangkok 20 years ago people would feel yuck, dirty, poor, awful.
Today they feel oohh so modern, where is the coconut trees and elephants that everyones talking about??, ooohh they got skyscrapers here.
Kalix September 23rd, 2005, 05:40 PM ^
^
i knew one chinese guy, he asked me if i rode an elephant to the school everyday in Thailand. LOL
Arewethereyet? September 23rd, 2005, 09:58 PM ^

I really hate that question...sound stupid to me hahaha

i knew one chinese guy, he asked me if i rode an elephant to the school everyday in Thailand. LOL
Really :) Chinese friends asked me quite similar question about an elephant walk on the street.
Kalix September 24th, 2005, 03:12 AM ^
but that's quite true, tho. they are like everywhere in BKK, feel like somewhere in New Delhi, but instead of a bunch of oxes, we get elephants :)
pon September 24th, 2005, 12:43 PM 17 years ago when I was high school student, my Japanese friend had asked me if people in Thailand had a TV set.... their image about Thailand was very poor and undeveloped at all.
BKKinTO September 24th, 2005, 05:38 PM I think it's because TOT's posters and commercials on TV which focus only on Temples,Floating Market and some urban sceneries. There is no skylines pictures at all.I think that's the reason, they should consider promoting that as well.
Chad September 24th, 2005, 05:48 PM But Thats whats foreigners findThailand interesting...
KENDO September 24th, 2005, 05:52 PM I agreed with you BKKinTO.
Because my friends just asked me at office
"in Japan we use chopsticks
do you use it or by your hands in THAILAND?"
image of thailand in japan is very delay.
maybe 50 years ago.
Kalix September 25th, 2005, 04:01 AM To show how westernized BKK is, is prolly not too good..certain group of tourists like to come and see the modernity, esp, young asian tourists...for westerners, i think they wanna see something different from their homeland and Thailand can potentially offer that.
Different tourism marketing should be applied differently to certain kinds of market..
it is true, Thailand image is so poor, dirty, cheap, unorganized, full of prostitutes to the rest of the world, but when we really think about it, isn't that cool to see those tourists are striked with the modern thai cities when they visit Thailand?
anyway, im so fed up with those stupid questions, but i can't really blame anybody..
Chad September 25th, 2005, 02:01 PM This is a lines of one foreigner's impression of Bangkok when he first arrived in the city back in 1998....worth reading....Thanks Jereme....:)
goodbye thailand
i remember my first impressions of bangkok as i rode in on a van from don muang- i was amazed at how modern a city it was, having expected a 'developing nation' to look fundamentally different. but here was a city filled with shopping centers, recognizeable restaurants, a mass-transit system was under construction overhead, and bmws and mercedes benzes filled the streets.
our group of ten new mba graduates initially stuck together like a platoon moving through enemy territory. every trip to get food or go shopping was a group activity. but after a while we grew comfortable with our new home and built our individual lives here. thailand was 'discovered' bit by bit, from lumpini park to chiang rai, from tom yum to larb moo, from jintara to da jim, from kreng jai to sia naa.
fast forward 5 and a half years and i'm one of last two of the original ten still here. now a new adventure awaits me in china and today is my last day as a resident in thailand. strangely enough, i had expected to feel strong emotions as i leave my friends and start a new life, but i still don't feel like i'm really leaving- i feel more like leaving on a business trip.
perhaps i'm just not ready to say goodbye.
Mosaic September 25th, 2005, 06:26 PM Oh! it's truely emotional message, I wanna cry on that.
Jo September 25th, 2005, 11:04 PM Maybe the Bangna area will be the new northern corridror after the new airport opens. There are some towers waiting for completion there.
I also like the curvy side of this tower. Must go there soon!
Imperfect Ending October 23rd, 2005, 12:55 PM nicer than the rendering :)
weird though
rayman October 23rd, 2005, 04:07 PM 17 years ago when I was high school student, my Japanese friend had asked me if people in Thailand had a TV set.... their image about Thailand was very poor and undeveloped at all.
I thought japanese education was better than that.

Well, this one is not even close to 150 meters as it's a little bit shorter than Shinnawat III tower located nereby which is 138( If I am not mistaken) meters tall. It looks so tall because it has a very small footprint lah. :)
archstudent August 5th, 2006, 05:59 PM ^^^ i guess this tower should be around 130-140 because when you comparation between this and shinnawatra tower (from other pic) it's a little bit shoter (shin3 is 150m.)
Mosaic August 5th, 2006, 06:06 PM Okay, you were right, Shin 3 is 150 meters tall and Comlink would be around 130-140 meters :)
pon August 18th, 2006, 09:36 PM The King and Queen image was put on top of the tower.
