Hindustani August 14th, 2004, 07:05 PM Red Fort aka Lal Qila is located in Delhi, the crown jewel city & the capital city of the mighty Mughal empire.. It is the most important fort in the Indian subcontinent. Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, This fort to this day plays a pivotal role in Indian Independence day, republic day parade & speeches. Its truly an architectural wonder.

actually lies inside the walled Mughal city of Shahjahanabad built by emperor himself. It is a huge walled city with superb architecture, a pearl mosque. & majestic courtyards called Diwan-e-khas & Diwan-e-aam, Private hall & Public hall respectively.

Peacock throne was taken away by Nader Shah of Iran when he invaded Delhi, only the exclusive marble inlay remains now where Peacock throne use to sit.
