Langham Place, with an area of 1.8 million sq ft., is an entertainment complex comprising of a 15-storey shopping mall of over 300 shops, a 59-level Grade A office tower and the 5-star Langham Place Hotel. Great curves and all but it seems to be slightly nondescript and a tad too bulky but overall a landmark in its area.

It has a really nice shiney-shiney curtain wall that can really dance with the light, and there's a certain elegance in the way it's wrapped so smoothly around the building.

There's also a certain elegance in the tower's curves, which add variety - especially with the set backs - and manage (unlike most other round buildings I've seen) NOT to look like a giant roll of paper towels.

They even devoted a bit of thought to the roof, which seems to flow well from the rest of the tower, helped by the set backs.

However...
It doesn't soar that well - the broad gray horizontal bands don't help, and broadside on it IS a bit chunky.

Wow, great futuristic design! 8.5/10. The curved shape is great, and the way the building steps up to the little half ball at the top is excellent.

the overall round feeling is good, and the setbacks are well positioned, giving this building both bulk and grace. simply amazing.

all we need is a twin to accompany it. it doesn't look as good alone...

A really beautiful, distinct, huge, 2 million square foot, and well thought out developement, I believe. It was fun watching it go up. I hope Mong Kok will see more of these. And with a high occupancy rate of the tower, a ~ 95% occupancy rate of the 15 story mall, the future will tell. 9.5.

Hmm... What's so great with this building ? OK the shape is not bad. But the glass curtain is rather plain, and I don't know why the ugly gaps in it around the mechanical or safety floors. Kinda ruins the look. The night lighting is so-so, could have expected much better from HK.

I like it a lot. The colors are nice, and it soars over the city without looking pretentious. Also, the shape is easy on the eyes; curvy but simple, like a nice car. The dome looks nice on top too.

From the outside, the mall is amazing. When you exit the metro station in Mong Kok, you come out and you're confronted with an enormous 20-storey wall of glass. This face of the mall dwarfs even the surrounding buildings. It has to be seen to be believed.

This tower with the mall is a perfect addition to Mong Kok and its best when you're on the streets. *sigh* those were the good times, now im in boring old America where it only ever gets as crowded as it does in Mong Kok on an average day if people are running away from a terrorist (or in the lines for security at LAX caused by looking for terrorists, but even then its all asians in the airport, so that doesn't count)

anyway, blah blah blah, lighting is great at night(need some pics at night),

It is an originally shaped building... I like it and then I think the detail and the attempt to be too original is a bit much. It also remnds me of a borg transport vessel or a ship from the fleet of Battlestar Galactica.

It's absolutely amazing to see it, especially the interior of the Langham place mall.

I was fortunate to live for a about a week in the next door Langham place hotel. Quite dreary sights out the windows, particularly because of the now aging Mong Kok, but its the next best thing to riding a plane through the area. (I lived on the 30th floor).

Plus the rooms were delightful! The bathroom has a glass window for one of its walls, so I could watch the world cup while taking a bubble bath :banana:

Anyhow, the building itself is a beacon at night, with its glowing top.

By the way, the Langham complex was built as part of a urban renewal project designed to revive the aging neighborhoods in Mong Kok and spearhead the redevelopment of the area.
