Stunning photos and very unique! Helicopter tours only started taking off in recent years. I didn't know they had a departure from atop the Peninsula. I've seen a lot of activity across the harbour from the Tamar base.

Tamar Base is closed now due to the start of the next step of Central-Wanchai Reclamation, wich began around May 2004.
Heliservices start from top of Peninsula... and there are some other companies (incude the HKTB-tours i think) having helipads at the site southwest of The Harbourfront in TST West

How much is the helicopter tour? Oh and btw, What are they doing with Nathan Road at Tsimshatsui? Its still a mess, is it part of the West KCR rail underground extension project linking MTR?

that is the KCR extension from Hunghom connecting the MTR tst station.

west rail phase 2 won't start until like late 2005 i think.

Hmm thats what I thought as well, but why do they have to have construction work on top of the road when the main project is underground? Are they reinforcing the surface so it doesn't collapse on the tunnel below them?

most work is underground.
i remember ,walking at Moody Road, there were huge steel plates on the streets and at some places there where holes and and a ladder's top was looking out...
i even saw workers coming out from there, i dunno why i didn't took a pic of them...
There is work under : Nathan Rd, Moody Rd ,Blenheim Ave(there i saw the workers) , Middle Rd and Chatham Rd South.

Overground work is in front of Signal Hill and at beginning of Chatham Rd South, next to Wing On Plaza , That's where they build the KCR station i guess.

the work at the Nathan road is not where the new station located, they are just tunnels connecting the two stations. The most efficient way to do this kind of project is cut-and-cover method. I believe they also need to do some re-routing of water pipes, wires, telephone lines....under the nathan road. So they need some space on the ground.

as i said Vincent:) the station will be near Chatham Road. i also believe at Nathan Road they will just build some tunnels... if i go to HK in Oct i will try to make some closeups.
