what do u guys think of dubai

Becoming more well known. A tourist destination for HKgers as well. Becoming more modern and more open than any other middle-eastern cities/nations. Very ambitious, and their long term goals are very favourable knowing that oil will run out soon they are changing UAE into a vacation haven. Culture is still very much unknown besides knowing you guys are in the Middle East and right next to Saudi Arabia.

What do you call yourselves anyways? Arabs?

dubai is a rich city, because of oil, what happens to the city when there is no more oil to supply other countries?

Theres nothing wrong with this topic being here. He put it here obviously because he wants to know opinions mainly from HK viewers or Asian viewers or people who rarely visit the middle east forum like me.

i was there like 3 years ago and i stayed in the emirates towers hotel.. absolutely fantastic! i'll be going to dubai again very soon. can't wait to see the dubai mall the palm.. oh yeah, the new madinat jumeirah.

one thing which i was quite disappointed is shopping. it's actually not as cheap as i thought, at least like more expensive than hong kong. it's quite a surprise to see hk brands like giordano there. eating in shopping malls is quite expensive but it's cheap to eat at hotels, probably because there're just too many.

oh yeah, taxi is cheap and i think it's cheaper than hk's. :)

i don't find any problems traveling just with my parents (not a tour) and yes, people are very friendly. i went to abu dhai last year which is quite cool as well but not many to see there.
