A developer is LOOKING (and very much intrested) in a site that is on the northern side of Martin Place (george st end). They are wanting to develope the site to its FULL potential, now most of the site is affect by the Sun Access Plain, BUT the 235m area DOES cover part of site and if it does (which it does) they want to build right up to it!

Now this is insider info, and you may never hear of it again (hopefully not), but this info has come "straight from the horses mouth"

Interesting, but I thought all the buildings at Martin Place and George and Pitt streets were heritage listed, at least their facades are. It's not the Wynyard site, is it?

hmmm, no hasnt been any pre-DA meetings invloving such a plan, . the only site i can think of is back from martin place on George st on hemmes club site which can go to 150m. also the other is City One opposite atop Wynyard station.
as testuser mentioned. there is a strict height plane on martin place and down that end of town theres heriatge bldgs. so im stumped lol

The reason why you havn't heard anything is because it is in its VERY early stages of planing. Look, as far as i have been told, the site they are looking at HAS a section that lies in the 235m zone, it may not even touch Martin Place (i dont know, all i got told was that the size had 235m zoning in it, but only part of it)

it may even fall through

BUT

i can confirm that a developer IS looking at it and they are "keen"

Well this is the latest news:

The developer who wanted the build the Martin Place heigh limit tower has withdrawn their idea. They realised that it would have been to difficult to get it through. Oh well..... maybe they might do something else somewhere else

BUT ITS NOT ALL BAD NEWS:

In about two weeks time a DA will be submitted into council about a new (small) 8 storie tower next to the Allianz tower.

could this one be the one i mentioned in another thread about a potential big one on Hunter street which had to be shadow tested due to impact on martin place?
anyway that one could go to only 190m.

theres currently a 7storey DA in for Allianz courtyard.

Im not sure of the details any more because my source has left the firm that was designing the building
