Hi Guys

I'm convening a bid to host the EUDC in Leeds in August 2012. This'll involve about 600 people from unis all over Europe coming to Leeds to debate for a week.

Anybody know who to talk to at the council to get some help, and who we could go to in the city for sponsorship etc?

I'll resist the temptation for a quip about 'mass debates'.
Wouldn't it be better to go straight to the Unis in Leeds? University of Leeds would make a good location/organiser.

Alternatively I'd imagine the Town Hall has that capacity, plus stage, plus seating and is a magnificent venue.

There was a genuinely world class conference on the HBO TV series The Wire at the Town Hall in November 2009. It attracted academics from all over the world and was run in conjunction with York Uni, Leeds Uni and, er, Manchester Uni.

guys thanks for the suggestions.

Venues,accomodation etc. are already sorted with RCS at uni, and the Town Hall is our planned final venue. I'm mainly looking for ideas for financial/logistical support.
