Good PM Bacolod...

Bit of Info:

San Parq 3 Tower will be built behind 2 San Parq and 1 San Parq... It will look like an L-Shaped building... according to source, the initial height of the building will be 12 storeys high... but it will change according to demand... mas lapad ni ang 4th building... daw almost 3x sang 2 san parq... pero subong daw gina consider na nila nga 15 storeys ang height sang San Parq 3... hopefully, mas taas pa... say, 22???

Para sa mga regular travelers like me sang Bacolód - Iloilo route or vice-versa, kadumdum pa kamo sang Sea Angels sang una? Wala lang, sweet memories. :D

before sea angels daw bacolod express pa to sang una. Sa banago man gadungka. Last ko nga sakay sea angels sa banago pa ila terminal.

he hehehehe...well nahidlaw gid ko ni sa ila magsakay. I remember the first catamaran-type of fast craft was BACOLOD EXPRESS....around 1989. Di pa na namon afford sang una ang Bacolod Express kay 120 pesos to ang plete compared to the 2-hour ferry nga Don Vicente and Princess of Negros (later Princess of Panay) nga tag 50 pesos lang...plus delivery boy ako sang una sang Napoleones sa duwa ni ka ferry (later Santa Maria replaced the Princess)

then around 1993 or 1994 NN launched St.Michael the Archangel. then it was followed by St. Gabriel...the first one with a motion dampening system. the fare ranged from 120 - 150 pesos

Then St.Michael was decomissioned and replaced by St.Raphael, also with a motion dampening system.

Then the last two were Angel Of Freedom and Angel Of Hope.

fare strated around 130 until the last time I took it last year was around 300 pesos na

Ang 4 ni ka catamaran "Angels" were taken over by Philippine Fast Ferry Corporation (a subsidary of WGA) then later, these "angels" were transferred to Cebu-Ormoc, Batangas-Calapan/Abra de Ilog and Cebu - Tagbilaran routes. Tapos ang Supercat ang gin baylo sa Bacolod-Iloilo

I remember these lines:

"Welcome aboard the Sea Angels. Please direct your attention to our cabin crew for a demonstration of safety procedures. In an unlikely event of a sea emergency, life jackets are found under your seats.....blah blah blah.....the main feature of this vessel is the motion dampening system, that counteracts with the motion of the waves to give you a smooth ride..."

Bacolod to host Visayas business summit
By Danny B. Dangcalan Home Updated September 12, 2011
Philippine Star online

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) will host the 20th Visayas Area Business Conference and Exposition (VABCE) on September 16 and 17.

Vice President Jejomar Binay will be the guest of honor of the two-day activity that will gather around 500 businessmen from key cities and provinces in the Visayas, as well as from Manila.

MBCCI vice president Jose Maria Zayco, who is also the conference director, said the conference will be held at L’Fisher Hotel and will highlight Bacolod City and Negros Occidental as new growth areas in the country’s economy.

The VABCE is considered the biggest gathering of business managers, professionals, members of the academe and government executives in the three regions, Zayco said.

The topics in the conference include a discussion on tourism by Davao Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, and veggie farming by Marcelino Remotigue, president of North Mindanao Vegetable Producers Association, he said.

Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad is scheduled to speak about Public-Private Partnership on September 16.

On the second day, there will be a talk on the vital role of fuel and power in economic development with Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras, and Art Aguilar, president of Global Business Power Corporation.

The conference provides the local private sector a venue to share and discuss related information and insights as well as address pressing concerns that affect the economy, in general.

The VABCE is the regions’ prelude to the Philippine Business Conference and Exposition, which gathers all the chambers around the country.

he hehehehe...well nahidlaw gid ko ni sa ila magsakay.

Those were the days man... Lawig man ko sige sakay sa mga barko na ini from November 1993 to October 2006. hehe..

Siguro Doc, gabunggoanay lang ta before sa barko.:lol: Weekly man ko gasakay eh.

Look for other areas in Bacolod, guv urges SM
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

Following the lifting of the Temporary Restraining Order on the sale and lease of the 7.7-hectare prime property of the Negros Occidental provincial government in Bacolod City to Ayala Land, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday advised the SM Prime Holdings Inc. to look for other areas to invest in, in Bacolod City.

“Bacolod is so wide… they can look for other areas,” Marañon said and he even mentioned the area of BREDCO.

On Sept. 6, the Twentieth Division of the Court of Appeals in Cebu lifted the 60-day TRO it issued on Marañon and other Negros Occidental officials sought by SM Prime Holdings Inc. that had opposed the awarding of the negotiated sale and lease of Ayala, claiming it was the winning bidder to the property

‘Northbound terminal to create growth area’
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The opening of the new Northbound terminal in Barangay Bata, Bacolod City, Sunday has achieved their objectives of creating a new growth center in the area, and to decongest traffic along Lacson Street and La Salle-B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod Councilor Dindo Ramos said yesterday.

Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Transportation and Traffic Management, said the northbound terminal has given Bacolod another landmark, and better income to jeepney drivers, especially in Bata and Mandalagan.

Negrenses test Azkals’ strength in friendly match at Panaad today

At 5:30 p.m. today at the Panaad Stadium, Negrenses will be seeing the Under 23 Ceres – Negros Team battle against the national men’s squad Azkals, in a friendly game that will showcase the talent of the local boys who bagged the crown in the PFF Suzuki Cup Under 23 national championship.

The Azkals will be playing minus its Fil-foreign mainstays such as keeper Neil Etheridge, midfield Stephan Schrock and Younghusband brothers James and Phil, who left Bacolod Sunday for Manila where their mother died on Saturday night.

The match against the Negros team will also serve as a tune-up match for the Under 23 Azkals who will be representing the country in the Jakarta Southeast Asian Games slated in November.

Province to launch Negros Football League

Before the game, a preliminary match between Bacolod United and Real Negrense will be held at 4 p.m.

The preliminaries will give the Negrenses a glimpse of the two teams that will be seeing action in the Negros Football League that will kick off on September 17.

Executive Assistant to the Governor Angel “Nonong” Verdeflor yesterday said that they will have a short program this afternoon to launch the NFL.

With football as one of the priority sports programs of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Verdeflor said the NFL will bring out the talents from the countryside and will pave the way for bigger football tournaments in Negros Occidental.

Guv on Provincial Government-Ayala deal: It’s all systems go
By Teresa Ellera-Dulla

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the development of the Capitol properties by Ayala Land Inc. will start within the year.

Marañon said Ayala will invest P6 billion to transform the Capitol properties into Negros Occidental Civic Center.

He added that the signing of contract between the Provincial Government and Ayala will be conducted once the Commission on Audit approves the deal.

Marañon made the announcement Monday after the Court of Appeals lifted effective September 6, 2011 the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued upon the request of SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPHI) on the purchase and lease of the 7.7-hectare prime properties of the Provincial Government by Ayala Land Inc.

The 60-day TRO is supposed to end on October 4, 2011 yet.

“I’m happy and I’m sure that the people of Negros are also happy about the developments because 99.9 percent of the people here supports the development project,” Marañon added.

Marañon advised SM to look for other available prime lots in the city, such as those in Bredco.

“There are still a lot of projects here. If they want, they can construct a bridge that would connect Bacolod and Iloilo,” Maranon said.

The claims of the heirs of Gonzaga family could not also hinder the project, the governor said, adding that the Provincial Government has already secured clearances and certifications that the courts, even the Supreme Court, have already resolved those claims.

One advice para sa SM, patindugan nila nami na mga pwesto ang mga tenants sa current Manokan Country, ipasaylo to ang tenants, buy the current Manokan Country puesto kag i-developan pa guid other amenities. They should develop their area into a mini-city. Get busy now SM, don't waste your time.

Volvo distributor aims to buck car industry downtrend

THE LOCAL distributor of Volvo cars expects to buck the downtrend in the automotive industry this year, banking on new markets outside Luzon and product launches to boost sales.
Viking Cars, Inc. is looking to hike sales by 14% this year against 2010 levels even as the rest of the industry already averaged a 4% drop as of August.

“We’re aiming to sell 260 vehicles by this year, compared to 228 sold last year,” Roselyn M. Dimalanta, first executive vice-president of Viking Cars, told BusinessWorld in an interview late on Wednesday.

So far, the firm has sold 155 units from January to August, Froilan Valencia, Viking Cars sales manager, said.

The firm has expansion plans that will see the local luxury dealer, which accounts for 10% of the Volvo market in Asia, establishing “boutique showrooms” in Bacolod City, Davao City, and Iloilo City, the officials said.

Viking Cars currently has one showroom in Makati City and another in Cebu City.

The firm is also looking to boost sales by offering its first sedan model fitted with a diesel engine, Mr. Valencia said.

“There is really a clamor for diesel engines,” said Mr. Valencia. “But our diesel engine, contrary to public perception, will be quieter thanks to evolving technology,” he said, adding that Viking Cars has been undertaking research in diesel engines since 2006, and Volvo’s background in producing diesel truck engines.

Viking Cars is also looking to lure more buyers by offering a five-year warranty program which it claims to cover a longer period than that offered by its rivals. --

It's just less than a decade ago na a number of people doubted if these BPO and more importantly, the ICT industry would flourish in Metro Bacolód. Less than a few years after the first BPO company set foot in Bacolód, these ICT-related companies are sprouting like mushrooms all over even spilling from the Metropolitan scope of Bacolód (including Talisay and Silay) to include Kabankalan and San Carlos.

Your hard earned victory? what would that be?

Why so combative? We should be thankful Bacolod is progressing, what's going on around is something inevitable!, every little thing that happens in Bacolod is part of GOD's plan for us. It may be against our will or it would ride along with our plan. It's all out of our hands by GOD's will it will be done. Just like what RN posted but in spanish.. hehe:lol:-

"if my people, which carries my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked conduct, I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. "

Capitol Property news man gihapon.. Ang ruling ka COA would lead to the signing of the contract. Dali na gid lang ni.

Favorable COA ruling seen on Capitol land
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The denial by the Court of Appeals of the bid of SM Prime Holdings Inc. for a preliminary injunction on the sale and lease by the Negros Occidental provincial government of its 7.7-hectare property in Bacolod City to Ayala Land, could also lead to a favorable decision from the Commission on Audit, COAprovincial chief ErnieVilla said yesterday.

The COA head office has sent the contract that the provincial government submitted for its approval and the SMPHI opposition to its regional office in Iloilo for comment, Villa said.

It is now with the legal department of the COA regional office. After it makes its comments on the matter, the COA head office will decide on the matter, Villa said, but added that he did not know how long the process will take.

As early as this Mayor Bing and Supt.Acebuche amo ni ang akon suggestions:

1. Allow Talisay - Bacolod jeepneys to resume their routes pero hasta na lang sila Triangle Island Plaza and didto agi sa San Juan to Banago magpabalik sa north.

or another option:

establish NORTH TERMINAL-SHOPPING-BURGOS jeepneys as what they are servicing now. this new route would be composed of selcted Talisay-Bacolod jeepneys

U turn slot for North Terminal-bound vehicles should be near the Welcome sign of Bacolod and the Vallacar Terminal-bound buses and northbound exiting jeepneys should take the U-turn slot beneath the flyover

provide decent roofing and protection for our passengers in anticipation of the monsoon rains that happen right now and then.

Those were the days man... Lawig man ko sige sakay sa mga barko na ini from November 1993 to October 2006. hehe..

Siguro Doc, gabunggoanay lang ta before sa barko.:lol: Weekly man ko gasakay eh.

Kasakay ka man gle Doc sa Bullet Express kag Royal Ferry?

Di man ko weekly gid ga fastcraft but yes we might have been bumping each other on Bullet Express, now Sea Jet, the defunct Royal Ferry, Sea Angels, Supercat, Ocean Jet and yes even MV Cadiznon that ferries from Dumangas-Bacolod in 2004.

Kadamo sang pwede... pero ang ila mismo nga ugsaran wala pa nila masyado na develop. Peryahan na lang pierme ang ara da kung Masskara or whatever occupies that place from time to time.

I agree, "adopt" manokan Country and give them a more decent row of spaces in the North Wing's open lot fronting the current Manokan Country. this will be of a big benefit for SM since its opening new areas of expansion

Bacolod as a culinary haven
By: Sandy Daza
Philippine Daily Inquirer

We were in Cagayan de Oro judging the Kumbira competitions on a Thursday when I got a frantic call from the Kangen Water office in Manila. The guy who was to deliver the water demo in Bacolod had met an accident. A tree had fallen on him! To make the long story short, the water-machine people wanted me to take his place. For what this water machine has done for my health, I could not let this opportunity pass.

I left right after the competitions on Friday evening, headed for Manila, and was scheduled to leave for Bacolod the following morning. Hectic, but exciting!

I was excited to share the good news about this water and how it would work wonders for many with health and skin issues such as aetopic dermatitis, psoriasis, acid reflux, diabetes, gout, high cholesterol, uric acid, even cancer and all acid-related diseases.

And the whole reason I got involved in this is precisely because I love to eat. Apart from being health-conscious and willing to try anything that will be good for my health, I cannot avoid many of the kinds of food I come across. I need something to neutralize it.

I was also excited because I always associate good food with Bacolod.

As soon as we landed, we headed for this impressive hotel called L’Fisher. From there, we took a cab to a seafood restaurant right behind where you point and they cook. What a letdown. The Sinigang na Ulo ng Lapulapu didn’t taste like the name at all. Other dishes were okay but far from satisfying. The demo at 2 p.m. was attended by about 50 health-conscious people. There were many questions. There was a buffet setup but I refused to eat, saving my appetite for a dinner that I was invited to by a longtime friend and fellow shooter, Mike Hinojales, and his son Stephen.

That meal was what I had longed to have in Bacolod. It was Bacolod chicken inasal with the local vinegar or sinamak and soy sauce, garlic rice, liver and their local kangkong version.

I was so impressed with Mike’s cooking until he admitted having the dishes picked up from Chicken House. Delicious!

From Mike’s, my wife and I went to an Italian restaurant across the hotel owned and run by New York-educated chef Jomi Gaston. We ordered pizza with some red wine. The pizza was awesome. The crust was perfect. Thin, crunchy and chewy.

I prefer my pizzas without too much wet ingredients for it makes it soggy and ruins the texture of the crust.

We had the four cheeses, or Bianca’s.

Trattoria Uma is a fine-dining Italian restaurant with huge portions and superb cuisine. Don’t know if all the locals realize what a gem they have in their city.
The next day, we went to Café Uma. I had an Eggs Benedict. This was a dish of pouched eggs on a slice of thick ham sitting on a French Brioche and topped with Bearnaise sauce.

I was looking at other tables and saw that the portions are large enough to share with three people. Fantastic experience.

Unfortunately, I only have one tummy to fill up. I most certainly will go back to this culinary haven. I want to try the various versions of the inasal at the open-air place where they say one experiences true Bacolod life, complete with ambiance.

Call Trattoria Uma, tel. 0917-5295221.

I will be conducting a Kangen Miracle water demo in Cebu on Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. Please text 0919-6614949 if you wish to attend.

the only result from my search of SM is GREED..... maybe you can enlighten us here considering SM is paying you 68k a month... am i right... there is a thin line between loyalty and stupidity and i think you have crossed it...I am asking you this question since by the way you are speaking you are well versed with SM's industry... there is no sarcasm on my part for asking but your reply was out of line... another thing that your teacher forgot to teach you is MANNERS, MORALITY and GOOD VALUES... you are very antagonistic when the word SM is mentioned...POOR YOU...:ohno::ohno:

Ok, so siding with someone corrupt is now considered as someone having Manners, Morality and Good Values??? How can you tell if someone has these values? what if I have those three but I'm corrupt?

You are so wrong! I wish I get that kind of money from SM. Poor me? Oh well, even if I'm poor, I still have principles. Poor you!

USLS Annex Building Inaugurated

The annex building of the USLS library was recently inaugurated and blessed with Fr. Ronald Quijano, school chaplain, officiating in the ceremonies.

The new building will house the English and Communications Center and the offices of Phil-Korea.

This new facilities were made possible by Jaeyong Oh, Chief Executive officer of Phil-Korea.

Bro. Ray Suplido, FSC stated that the partnership between Phil-Korea has enabled many Koreans to study in the university, imbibing our Filipino culture and norms of Negrenses which has led to cordial relations between our country and the Korean people.

Rhoderick Samonte, Director for External Relations has also been instrumental in forging excellent ties between the Korean students and the Negrenses.

Bro. Suplido, FSC stated that, should Nepalese students complete the necessary requirements, there is a strong possibility that Nepal will soon be sending students to USLS who will enrol in the College of Medicine of the institution.*

SP OK’s P59-M Supplemental Budget, P40-M Loan for School Building

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) has approved during its regular session yesterday a supplemental budget of P59 million.

The SP also granted Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. the authority to negotiate with the Philippine National Bank for a P40-million loan.

Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., chairman of the SP Committee on Finance, said the P40-million loan will be used to construct a two-storey 24-classroom building for the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS).

He said the school building will be constructed along the Libertad side of the Paglaum Sports Complex.

The donation of the school building to the NOHS is embodied in the memorandum of agreement between the provincial government and the Department of Education when the latter returned the ownership of the Paglaum Sports Complex to the former.

The NOHS is currently using the Paglaum stadium for some of its classes, like Physical Education, since it lacks classrooms.

The P59 million as supplemental budget will be utilized for the following: P7.7 million as 20-percent Provincial Development Fund for calamity, gender and development, grants and donations and peace and order fund; P7.8 million as additional funding for the construction of the Sipalay hospital, P13 million as separation pay and P6.2 million as terminal leave benefits for Capitol employees, and for other expenses.

Meanwhile, the provincial government is also planning to construct a three-storey commercial building along the Lacson and Hernaez sides of the Paglaum Sports Complex.

The initial plan of the provincial government was to loan the amount of about P400 million from banks but other options also cropped up recently, such as bidding the property to developers that will shoulder the cost of construction of the building.

Some of those which reportedly expressed intention to bid are Robinsons Land Corp. and SM Prime Holdings.* (DBDangcalan)

Why spend so much money on Wide road for a sleepy town, KUNO. T Sleepy Province ta haw? 13 man lang ka syudad ah.. So amo na.. Lets be postive.. And pinaka utro d is ang mga daw tyangaw nga drivers.. Kanami sang Infra, husto man sila paugtas..
Our city might be "relaxed" but certainly not a sleepy one. I prefer a city na cool lang, indi masyado hustle and bustle pero gaawas sa kwarta. That's what gives our city its charm and attracts tourist by the thousands if not a million annually.

Our Lacson Street is our Roxas Boulevard, Araneta Street our Macapagal Boulevard and Circumferential Road our EDSA (which actually is Circumferential Road-4 of Metro Manila). Those streets deserve better structures in lieu of good urban planning for in 5-10 years time, they will be very congested if not planned well. :D

^^now i know why mayor bing insists on putting the FO in the east instead of the original site which is the araneta-magsaysay junction. if plan pushes through to transfer the southbound terminal anywhere between pahanocoy and sum-ag, traffic in this area will ease up and yes, FO may not be needed.

Great!seems like there is really a plan for Bacolod to become a sports destination.and more are arriving...:banana::banana:

PHL Women’s Cagebelles Arrive in Bacolod Sept. 21

Members of the Discovery Perlas Pilipinas Women’s National Team will be arriving in Bacolod on September 21, 2011 to prepare for the 1st Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) - Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Discovery Women’s Invitational Cup scheduled from September 28 to October 1 at the West Negros University gym.

The 5-day tournament will feature teams from China, Thailand, Qatar and host-Philippines with over 80 players including officials participating.

The tournament, likewise, will serve as the national team’s preparation for the forthcoming 26th edition of the Southeast Asian Games in November in Indonesia.

On his part, SBP executive Director Renauld "Sonny" Barrios said that hosting a prestigious international sports event in Bacolod will not only spawn development growth in sports for the youth but also provide greater exposure to the city and further strengthen its image as a major destination hub for sports tourism in Asia.

Meanwhile, a press conference will also take place upon their arrival on September 21 at the East View Hotel.

For me, its height is just okay. If you'll consider the LED boardsize, ok lng gid ang iya kataason coz if pataasan pa gid basi indi na mabasa or makit-an ang detalye sang ads or info sa screen. ;)

Hold your horses, who said you are anybody's puppet? You brought it up. I'm just spilling my opinions and adding spice to a rather boring topic. You never know, I might be from Rob or Gaisano or Lopues trying to stain a competitor's image or I might be a candidate trying to stain somebody too, that my friend is the beauty of the internet. Everyone can have a voice! Bato bato sa langit, ang tamaan ay pikon!

Cheers to you while I drink my ice cold San Mig and typing away in my gadget in some bar here in Negros.

For me daw ok lang anay nga ang LED billboard ta is only as tall as that since gamay man lang ang screen.

Remember the Philippines is a typhoon-prone country and a LED billboard is a big loss it would be crumpled by those tremendous winds. Remember what Ruping did to large satellite dishes of Bombo Radyo and L'Fisher Hotel in 1990, and why Mc Donalds Lacson never resurrected their very tall signage that was repeatedly destroyed by Puring in 1993 and Pepang in 1995.

Amo lang na guro anay aton LED billboard ah...mag patok na gani, we might build a bigger one and also a little tall for a lot of people to see

To be honest, I'm not either a fan of big billboards, both electronic or most especially tarpaulins. Better have it in a modest height, IMO. Not too distracting to the motorists at the same time.
