^^do you think may possibility ma partner man sila sang former noah's ark property (araneta) and MW?

^^ That is a good question migo...

Hahahaha ^^DREAM ON, Sugar!^^

^^well, maybe because its such a massive project that is forcibly framed up in a limited space. i'd still go for ALI when it comes to aesthetics in design and master-planning.

^^ ALI is already a name none can compare... coming close I guess for Real Estate Development Aesthetics is Rockwell Land and Century Properties... :)

^^baw sadya gid tani e. ALI around capitol and MW around BGC? ALI will have a convention center while MW, a coliseum. ti, maano ka da?:lol:

^^ Maayo guid ni kung madayun migs... damu guid maka Benepisyo! :)

^^migs, its just a naming rights (good for 5 years). the property is still owned and managed by the araneta group.

read this (http://www.adlsu.com/2011/07/25/the-new-smart-araneta-coliseum/)

^^ Yup... daw sponsorship ika nga... :) I think SMART is paying a certain amount per annum for the Naming Rights and will be improving facilities at Araneta Coliseum... Amo man ni ang gina plan ka SMART for the Paglaum Sports Complex and the Pana-ad Stadium accdg to my Resourceful source sa Province... :)

Just got the news fresh from the mouths of the CAFE BOB'S employees:

Some Lacson Street business-owners daw petitioned that the 2011 ELECTRIC MASSKARA be postponed at the Lacson Tourism Strip. Ang rason?....ga pamiyerde daw sila?

Can any of Lacson businessmen and concerned people comment on this?

Daw ga alalalawas man ang mga customers sa Lacson Street and nasaksihan mismo sang akon duwa (or apat) ka mata ang pagkapuno sang halos tanan nga establishments sa Lacson even though wala pa sila gani ga plastar sang ila lamesa kag kalan-an sa dalan.

ang rooftop sang Chalet daw merkado na sa kagutok gani and same with the lobby of L'Fisher. Kita ta man ang gadinaguso nga tawo sa Starbucks, Entings, 21 Bar, Mu Shu, Louise Resto (formerly), L'Sea, Sorrento, hasta didto sa Mc Donalds.

te piyerde da sila?...I have a hunch daw dinalok nga desisyon ini?

I hope its totally UNTRUE! :ohno:

^^ Doc, as always, MASSKARA is Rain-soaked! hehehehehehe

^^ But thing is, RAIN OR SHINE, Masskara is Masskara! We Bacolodnons knows how to party even if its RAINING HARD! Last Year, Party Party man gyapon bisan naga Bu-Bu ang ulan ah... :)

^^ Kambal na guid na sang Masskara ya ang Ulan... :)

Yes but I hope not with storm-force winds. We had a heavy downpour in 1998 wherein the last 4 performers of the dance parade were made to perform on the next day.

A bit OT but for our occasional Taiwanese SSC Forumers who visit the page from time to time... Happy Centennial for the Republic of China from your friend, República Negrénse. Enjoy your Double Ten Celebrations. :cheers:

An update on our bisita Carlos Celdran (http://www.facebook.com/pages/CARLOS-CELDRAN/329069471130)'s adventure...

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/306329_10150404337216131_329069471130_10538050_2143462506_n.jpg
"went swimming in this little pool at the foot of a waterfall in Mambukal #Bacolod. The water clear and perfectly chilly. Drinking is not allowed by the falls. Good. Keeps out the riffraff. I was also pleasantly surprised by the lack of loud music and karaokes in Mambukal. Another amazing rarity in PH tourism sites. Well done."

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/318491_10150404330946131_329069471130_10538013_1965681436_n.jpg
"took a one hour trek up a mountain to see the Mambukal Falls. There are seven of them. I saw four (two were closed for "repair"...?). It was a two hour trek up and down a steep mountain amidst trees, ferns, little villages, rice fields and rocks. It's a pretty hardcore outdoorsy thing to do too let me tell you. Not for flimsy folk. But the overwhelming sense of achievement and "macho-ness" upon completing the trek makes it worth the effort."

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/320142_10150404325941131_329069471130_10537974_1143015452_n.jpg
"loved Mambukal Falls near #Bacolod. Check out this sight. A SPA located inside nipa thatch hut next to a gurgling river. There's a hot spring right next to it and it's CHEAP. Totally for the average Filipino. Only Php50.00 to swim in the heated pool and Php300.00 for a massage. And the best thing is that the architecture isn't offensive. I was elated by the lack of kabaduyan in the structures built around Mambukal. It's an achievement not to be baduy in government owned structures. Seriously."

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/305465_10150404320701131_329069471130_10537962_891029475_n.jpg
"spent the afternoon at Mambukal Falls. Amaaaaaazzing! It's TOTALLY close to #Bacolod. Only 40 minutes. No traffic. WooHoo. Upon arrival. I immediately jumped into this river. I am never happier than when I'm in touch with my inner carabao. Never."

Proud na proud guid ko ya sa Province ta a whenever a well-known guy likes what he sees in our tourist destinations. This makes me miss my Province all the more. Sige lang a, magbalik siya, amo ma na pagbalik ko sa Bacólod. :cheers:

I know daw indi gid namun known amun Chinese ancestry, we just know that we are a descendant of a Cantonese businessman and blacksmith who came to Iloilo and migrated to Bacolod. After the great Bacolod Fire of 1955 ang lolo ni papa went bonkers kay na-abo gid iya negosyo sa Luzuriaga. So wala na na-hand-over from him to us (kay lola) ang tradition, language and culture. Lolo Shanga died a poor chinese man since his assets were named under his chinese friends here in Bacolod and kept it for themselves na.

college na ko when our chinese neighbor Tian Sang told my father:

That's why there is a categorical "only God and ourselves know our heart" kay no one is in the position to judge anyone because only God can judge us in the end of our life on earth. Biblical Christianity lies in how one lives and not how one identifies himself. :)

Habagat is ending and Amihan is coming in so expect the NE Monsoon (Amihan) to give a little "push" to the storm towards us....hoping it will be still a weak Amihan...and plus RAMON trails behind the ITCZ and just in front of an Easterly Wave, its impossible that this storm will easily dissipate ^^

yep...hehehehe...remember October-December typhoons?...they usually go far down up to our islands.....Ruping 1990, Uring 1991, Puring 1993, Pepang 1995....no destructive typhoon has gone thru Negros after Pepang in 1995, so we should anticipate and prepare always...budlay if we will be caught unaware and unprepared kay ka disastrous sang consequences

But since the Masskara goes with the monsoon season, its but timely to show everybody that Masskara goes on rain or shine....its a unique festival that symbolizes the fighting spirit of the Bacolodnon amidst crisis....

this is how they (RLC peeps) describe it...

Lighted Chimneys, a dome-like structure that makes the mall a modern landmark; and a landscaped area with plant boxes and tropical plants.

The Blue Water Plaza is expected to be a magnet for visitors because it is where kids and adults can play and frolic. The Lighted Chimneys will serve as an iconic point of reference for the mall and is visible from the main highway. It will be a reminder that, yes, Bacolod City has retained its old-world charm, but also welcomes development and urbanization.

Bacolod notes increase demand in hotel rooms (http://www.pia.gov.ph/?m=7&r=r06&id=56277)

BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 26 (PIA) -- More Hotels are getting booked in time for the world-renowned MassKara Festival come October.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia revealed that since 3-4 months ago hotel rooms in the city were getting booked by local and foreign tourists who wanted to witness the MassKara Festival that the mayor called the "crown jewel" of Bacolod’s Tourism industry.

Hotel rooms have increased from 1,612 rooms in 2004 to 3,678 hotel rooms this year.

“Robinsons Land is also building a hotel and is even adding an additional floor from its original plan. This tells us therefore that the tourism industry is growing and continues to grow,” Leonardia said.

Flights have also increased from four flights 10 years ago to 17 flights now going in and going out of Manila and Cebu.

“An increase in flights indicates that there is vibrancy in the economy and the industry continues to grow,” Leonardia added.

An update on our bisita Carlos Celdran (http://www.facebook.com/pages/CARLOS-CELDRAN/329069471130)'s adventure...

Seriously."

:cheers:

Parcon: Local ethanol blend in fuel will soon be a must

By Rodel T. Parcon, CPA, MBA
Breakthrough
Tuesday, October 11, 2011

THERE is a piece of good news for local ethanol producers.

The Department of Energy (DOE) is now almost done with a circular that will require oil companies to buy a certain percentage of its ethanol requirements locally and also for ethanol producers to commit volume production.

Emilia Narni J. David of Businessworld reported that in a telephone interview Energy Undersecretary Jose M. Layug disclosed “There is no excuse to completely bypass the allocation because there are set in advance already taking into account the committed volume of producers and the fluctuating market share of oil companies.”

Ethanol producers and players must abide with the allocation as those who do not follow the allocation or do not produce the committed volume will be fined and subjected to possible administrative penalties including suspension of operations.

The circular expected to be released next week will also include a pricing formula patterned on the current formula being used to determine gasoline and diesel prices that will allow the government and oil companies to determine how much of an impact the price of ethanol will have on pump prices.

Under Republic Act No. 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006, petroleum companies to blend ethanol to gasoline. The blend was raised to 10 percent for mid-octane fuels last month from 5 percent as full implementation of the 10 percent blend will begin next year.

Earlier, oil firms said that the allocation system does not allow pricing to follow the market.

There you go! That confirms the additional floors HH on Go Hotel here. Hay, kanami pa guid nga gadugang ang mga hotels sa atun ciudad kay that means more tourist flocks for this year. :applause:

"went swimming in this little pool at the foot of a waterfall in Mambukal #Bacolod. The water clear and perfectly chilly. Drinking is not allowed by the falls. Good. Keeps out the riffraff. I was also pleasantly surprised by the lack of loud music and karaokes in Mambukal. Another amazing rarity in PH tourism sites. Well done."

SRA chief issues new order to boost export of PH sugar
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Bautista-Martin yesterday said she has issued a new sugar order granting the advance swapping of domestic “B” sugar for crop year 2011-2012 into world market “D” sugar to further boost the export of Philippine sugar that is on track.

Overall, the SRA expects to export a total of 600,000 metric tons to the US and world market within the current crop year, which will bring the ending stocks to about 400,000 by August 31, 2012, she said.

Many international traders also have made serious inquiries on the possibility for a sustained export program from the Philippines, she added.

Martin said that, with increasing demand from developing countries, especially with the growing middle-class in most cities, the prospects for increasing sugar demand in the next five years should be an incentive to the Philippines to continue production at a modest surplus.

Martin said she observed the brisk and non-stop loadings of export sugar using mechanical loaders at loading ports at BREDCO in Bacolod City and Pulupandan town yesterday.

These mechanical loaders can accommodate as much as 4,000 tons per day, compared to manual loading procedures in some ports that can load as much as 1,000 per day only, Martin added.

Monitoring reports of SRA indicate that the 63,193 metric tons shipment to the US will be completed within October 2011, she said.

In addition, 122,943 metric tons. have been shipped out to Indonesia, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan. On top of this, another 56,122 metric tons for the world have shipment schedules within October and November, while the remaining balance of 38,002 metric tons advance-swapped “B”-to-“D” will also be shipped out before the end of the year as planned, she said.

The SRA reports further reveal that with the start of milling, stocks still continue to deplete as the production is lower than withdrawal on a weekly basis. The situation may reverse in November yet, when all mills grind to full capacity, Martin said.

With withdrawals for both the US and World Market shipments still on-going, and that for the local market averaging at 30-40 thousand metric tons per week, national domestic sugar stock is down to a little more than 200,000 metric tons raw sugar at the start of October, she said.

On the other hand, refined sugar stock is around 130,000 metric tons. These stocks will be enough to cover the demand for the months of October and November, plus a desirable level of buffer stocks, she said.

With milling expected to be in full gear by November, it is expected that local production will meet the surge in domestic demand for the coming Christmas and summer seasons, she added.

Martin’s recently issued Sugar Order No. 4 sets the guidelines for the advance swapping of “B” or domestic sugar produced during crop year 2011-2012 into “D” or world market sugar.

Sugar Order No. 1 Series of 2011-2012 had allocated 20 percent of sugar production for “D” or world market sugar.

However, she said the volume of physical “D” sugar available for shipment to the world market will not be substantial in the early part of crop year 2011-2012.

Any volume of “D” that can be exported at the earliest possible time will also help stabilize the domestic market, she added.

The deadline to apply for advance swapping with an incentive of 1:1.2 will not be later than October 31, the order states.

Only old crop quedan-permits of crop year 2010-2011 will be eligible for the purpose, the order adds.*CPG

Bing: Bacolod City finalist as ‘most business-friendly’

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia clarified yesterday that Bacolod City is one of the finalists for the Most Business-Friendly City, contrary to reports that it has been disqualified.

The mayor has been invited by Miguel Varela, chairman emeritus of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to attend the awarding ceremony of the 37th Philippine Business Conference and Expo at the Manila Hotel on Thursday, in a letter dated October 5, 2011.

In his letter, Varela, 37th PBC Award chairman, said “We hope your participation in this award search has contributed to increasing business competitiveness and efficiency to Bacolod City.”

Varela said they have invited President Benigno Simeon Aquino as the guest of honor to the occasion and to confer the award to the LGU winner.

Leonardia said Bacolod City had been adjudged as the Most Business Friendly City in the Visayas in 2006 and in 2007, and was eventually given the title of the “Most Business Friendly City in the Philippines” in 2007.

“For me, being a finalist is already a victory for Bacolod, whatever may happen during the final announcement,” he said.

Leonardia said he believes that Bacolod has shown the consistency of its business environment based on the viewpoints of experts like the USAID, Asian Institute of Management, and the German Technical Cooperation, including the Information Technology Commission, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Business Process Association of the Philippines.

On top of this, Bacolod is also a recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping in an assessment done by the Department of Interior and Local Government, he said.

“We are among the 43 out of the 138 cities that have been given the seal,” he added.

Leonardia said he is attending the awarding ceremony because he believes his presence there is mandatory, or else it may be misinterpreted as disinterest and, “That could hurt Bacolod’s business image, which I do not want to happen.”*CGS.

What kinds of places do you want to go and are you going around Bacólod City plus its surrounding areas or do you want to explore the Province fully? We can suggest famous and not so famous but worth places to go. :cheers:

Ok-Ok...thats nice...the days would be enough for your tours. Well the duration and sched would matter on whether you arrive at Bacolod on a morning or an afternoon and also on the time you will leave. But generally it would be:

Lacson Tourism Strip dinner and tour
Daytime Bacolod City tours with dinner at either Manokan or Pala-Pala
Overnight at Mambukal
Talisay-Silay (or Victorias) tour ending with mall stop overs and souvenir shopping on the remaining time

actually most of the first class to standard and tourist inns have bed and breakfast type of packages. Just check www.bacolodcity.gov.ph or www.negros-occ.gov.ph for a start or try your local search engine :lol:

Hello:) tanong ko lang anong hotel sa Bacolod City ang pinakamaganda pero mura lang? thanks, me my friends are planning to visit this December

If you want to capture amazing sunset when good weather prevails and enjoy cool dip at the pool, choose Palmas del Mar or L'fisher Chalet. A resto at Chalet's penthouse offers good food and has a nice view of Bacolod's cityscape.

On your arrival, you can visit these places in order after you check in...

* Bacólod City Plaza
* San Sebastian Cathedral
* Pope John Paul II Tower
* Dizon-Ramos Museum
* The Government Center (Bacólod's New City Hall)
* Negros Museum (if you want snacks, go to their Museum Café, its a must try)
* Provincial Capitol Lagoon

...for dinner, you have choices of...
* Pendy's
* 21 Restaurant
* Inaka
* Mushu
* 18th St. Pala-Pala
* Cuayx
* Any restaurant in Piazza Sorrento
* The Real Pala-Pala
* Imay's
* Manokan Country
* Carlo Restaurante Italiano
...and dessert places...
* Café Bobs
* Café Negrénse
* Café Uma
* Calea
* C's Café
* Felicia's
* Simi's
* Buglas Café

Day 2:

* Mambukal Resort (I suggest start first with the hot spring dip to soothe your body then hike along the trail for Mambukal's famed falls... try reaching the 7th Falls for its worth it)
* Ride along the road towards Don Salvador Benedicto (stop by the Lion's Club Marker with that malnourished lion :nuts:) and if night catches up on you, you may stay...
* La Vista Resort for night... but if not, you may stop there for snacks. Try reaching San Carlos City proper and stay for the night. If you have time, you may explore San Carlos' Sipaway Island.

Day 3:
* If you have not gone to Sipaway Island, go there...
* If you did, you may proceed to Sagay and explore the marine sanctuary...
* Experience Escalante and feast on the bountiful seafood...
* If you can't get enough of the beach, you may stay at Cadiz for the night either in Lakawon Island or just visit and proceed to Manapla to savor the puto. If night falls...
* Stay in EB Magalona in their new hotel there... if you can, race towards Bacólod to call the night.

Day 4:
* Replenish in Bacólod and get ready to visit either Bago City's Buenos Aires Resort or in La Carlota at Guintubdan to explore the Spring and Falls.
* Stop by Himamaylan to eat some local delicacy
* Replenish in Kabankalan City before heading to either...
* Punta Bulata in Cauayan if you want to explore an island marine sanctuary... or various resorts in the Resort City of Sipalay... or Hinobaan if you like it more quiet but I suggest Sipalay if you want to stay in the night.

Day 5:
* Race towards Bacólod.
* Visit The Ruins for your trip would not be complete without it also...
* The majestic San Diego Pro-cathedral in Silay City
* Have snacks in Café 1925 or El Ideal or...
* Brgy. Balaring - Silay City (if you'll arrive lunchtime, dito na)
* Balay Negrénse - Silay City
* I suggest you take the last flight to Manila in order to maximize your stay.

Too much places to go right? That's my uber exhausting and almost suicidal trip list. :nuts: That's just the talagang must go places, excluding the not so famous yet worth places to go to. If you want, we can meet in Manila prior to your trip to Bacólod. If you are available anytime until December 17, we can plan it out to finalize this messy itinerary, drop, add or simplify. I'd be in Bacólod earliest December 20 and latest December 25 or 26. I can accompany you in some of these places since my family might visit them at the same time you would with your friends. :):cheers:

with a lot of seas, straits and passes, even if it will not intensify further, TS RAMON might survive and maintain its track.....its convective clouds may be displaced but this is really a wet system. Expect flooding, mudslides, landslides and lots of erosion. Remember Mameng and Pepang in 1995. land interaction with the Visayas did not weaken them. :ohno:

Guys, as ordinary non-weather professionals we could estimate the center of the storm at your locality using the BUYS-BALLOTS LAW.

It says that "If you stand with the wind against your back, the center of the storm is directly at your left"

if there is no sensible or obvious wind just like in tropical storms, depressions or weakening typhoons, look up to the sky and observe the movement of the lowest clouds (stratus or strato-cumulus). Stand with your back against the direction from where the clouds are coming. The storm center is also at your left
:):):)

Talisay wins trailblazer ISA award

With the vision of making Talisay City a “Village City: A Model for Balance Development by 2040,” Mayor Eric Saratan and the Talisay PGS Team scored another victory yesterday with the Trailblazer Award granted by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia, after passing the compliance stage with highest distinction.

Talisay City is now the first city in Negros Occidental to be recognized as an ISA partner, a press release from the city said.

Saratan said the hard work has just started and their resolve to work harder to attain the next level, the Proficiency Stage, has become stronger as they are inspired by the recognition of ISA of their efforts.

Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) congratulated Saratan and his team, commending them for their focus on transformational strategies.

The awards were given at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City by ISA Chairman Dr. Jesus Estanislao and ISA Trustee Rex Drilon II, after the Local Government Unit Revalidas of the 2011 Public Governance Forum.

With Saratan were Councilors Rafael Ignacio Coscolluela, Edmundo Celiz, Daniel Tribaco and Edwin Pahilanga.

The Talisay City Compliance Revalida Panel was composed of Dr. Estanislao as chair and ACRE Inc., president and CEO Dr. Nick Fontanilla as co-chair. Panel members were Deloitte Phils. president Gregorio Navarro, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Donald Dee, and ISA Trustee and Fellow Mel Sarmiento, University of Asia and the Pacific director Jose Navarro, and local sectoral representatives Dr. Remia Tipon for education, Dr. Joy Vingno for the religious, and La-arni Aguilar, the press release added.

Providing support were members of the Technical Working Group – City Administrator Jovim Entilla, City Planning and Development Officer Marmelo Sausi, City Treasurer Edwin Prote, Budget Officer Anabelle Jocson, Cooperative Officer Rosalinda Tuvilla, SP Secretary Josel Faisan, City Health Officer Dr. Joy Gladys Guanzon, and Office of Strategy Management staff Marlyn Simondo, Cheryl Mae Ledesma, and Ella Mae Javier. *

Tunisia boosts PH sugar trade

Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Bautista-Martin waved exuberantly Monday on the prospects of the expanding sugar export of the Philippines to new destinations.

But there was one thing that she had kept under wraps but for sometime of course, I had known about it. And Monday, she finally relented when I asked her to confirm that Tunisia had made an offer to buy 30,000 metric tons of our crystals.

“I hope that they can finally find the bottoms for it,” said Ms. Martin, pointing out that it was the major stumbling block to the Tunisian export.

Actually, it was columnist Ernie Hinojales who first broke to me that news. His son-in-law, a Tunisian, had brokered a deal that would allow Tunisia to buy 30,000 metric tons of sugar from the Philippines.

Hinojales, told me that they had already started filling up the documents needed to engage in exporting Philippine sugar.

“But to our surprise, we learned that the major stumbling block to that is the lack of bottoms or ships that will carry the cargo to Tunisia.

Ms. Martin reluctantly agreed to give me the first break in writing the story.

“I hope that will be realized soon,” she said.

That could mean that it could serve a breakthrough for the Philippine sugar to crash into the African market, particularly North Africa which had never been known as a potential market for local sugar.

Hinojales did not state whether the Tunisian importer could usher in a new era of an African trading partnership, most likely for oil or fertilizers, which are derived from oil.

Ms. Martin said Monday that 122,943 metric tons have been shipped out to Indonesia, China, Japan, Korean, Vietnam and Taiwan.

She added that another 56,122 metric tons for the world are scheduled to be shipped out by October and November. Another – the remaining balance of 38,001 metric tons advanced swapped “B” to “D” will be shipped out before the end of the year as planed, she added.

Well done Bacolod!!!Bing: Bacolod City finalist as ‘most business-friendly’
