ginago gani kay damo naman syudad sa Pilipinas nga may flyover. poor choice. The flyover is just an icon of structural development. Tani may committee ni ya nga nag pili comprising of a multi-sectoral panel plus maybe a public choice thru popular voting.

Tatlo guid bala ka Sugar Centrals with Aranetas in the board ang naputo. A relative of theirs, an Araneta mismo, said na it is due to mismanagement sang mga kaparientehan niya. Oh well, I hope they won't mess up with Central Hawaiian which they also have shares. :ohno:

I was thinking tani nga the Old BMMC Compound wasn't torn down but was converted into another museum focusing on the Sugar Industry. The Machines and the processes of making sugar and how a central is run. Or maybe build a replica of the sugar central complete with smokestacks and the train outside but the building would actually be a convention center that looks like a sugar central.:D

May ara na bala City Ordinance for that matter. City Ordinance No. 482, Series of 2009 authored by Coun. Paglumutan. The Ordinance calls for an Inasal Festival. I am currently formulating an ordinance amending that 482 I am planning to finish before end of the month.

The ammendment states that the Inasal Festival should coincide with the fixed Charter Day at June 18 so that our Charter Day would have a Festival component. Kung matapos ko na, I need 1,000 signatures for it to be passed to the City Council for reading. :)

Mandalagan is one of the three barangays that border the Northern part of Bacolod City. it is strategically located along Lacson Street, one of the city's major thoroughfares and is now a booming center for real-estate (subdivisions, condominiums, apartments), BPO call center and IT businesses, medium scale department stores and a full service mall (Robinsons Place Bacolod) and some of the city's famous night spots and hotels.

Its around 2.5 - 3 kms from the Provincial Capitol (zero km marker for Bacolod City) or around approx. 4 kms from the central business district (downtown)

so, the first philippine azkal is a bacolodnon.

An earlier Azkal!

Then I got this e-mail from Jonah Amechazurra, a great-grandnephew of another Filipino football player of yore, “I read your article in STAR, and it was great but there are some flaws and is kind of misleading. To set the record straight, Paulino Alcántara Riestrá was not the first Filipino to play in Europe. Manuel Amechazurra was the first Filipino who joined the Football Club Barcelona from 1905 to 1915. FC Barcelona also won The Pyrenees Cup four times, from 1910-1913, with him. The Pyrenees Cup is the first football international in Europe. But the tournament stopped due to the beginning of World War 1 in 1914. It’s sad because our bisabuelo is not recognized here in the Philippines despite the fact that he brought so much glory to the country.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pdDk17EQbP4/TbtctOC71TI/AAAAAAAAAtU/CXZV18S6xgY/s320/Manuel+Amechazurra.jpg
Amechazurra was also featured in his own player card from the early 1900s.| Photo by Philstar.com

“Manuel Amechazurra was born in Bacolod City, Philippines. He was called el capitán and played as a defender (compared to striker position that Paulino Alcantara played).

“Manuel Amechazurra had a Basque bloodline. The clan’s roots came from the Basque region of Spain. Cheers and God bless. Embrace the love and more power to our very own Futbol Filipinas.”

Thanks Jonah. And I’m still waiting to hear from any other descendants of Azkals of the pre- and post-war era. Filipinos are a peripatetic race and our Diaspora is continuing. There must be dozens of athletes of Filipino blood who have gained success in sports not too popular with today’s Filipinos.

Victorias Milling turnaround seen to be on schedule

SUGAR PRODUCER Victorias Milling Company, Inc. has reportedly remained true to its rehabilitation plan, paying creditors some P4 billion of its P4.417-billion restructured loan after several asset sales and work force cuts, documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showed.

“The company is expected to continue marching towards financial health by focusing on continuing the implementation of its rehabilitation plan,” the report read.

The payment of the debts comes after the company streamlined its manpower to 851 in 2009 from 3,325 in 1997, the report read. The company has also leased and sold some of its assets.

“It has leased its 1,000-sq.m. property in Bacolod City as well as its 578,190-sq.m. farm. Together, these are generating about P78,000 monthly in revenues,” the report read. “Its deteriorated barges and tugboats have been sold as scrap for about P8 million.”

Energy office finalizing rule on mandatory bioethanol blend

Monday, October 24, 2011

DOE solicited until October 13, 2011 comments and proposed changes to the draft department circular (DC) to implement the PNS for e-Gasoline (E10) and unleaded gasoline (ULG)-exempt grades from the minimum of 10 percent blend of bioethanol for the effective implementation of the mandatory use of bioethanol blend.

As per DC 2011-02-001, which was issued pursuant to Republic Act 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006, the full implementation of the minimum 10% blend in all gasoline sold by each and every oil company should have commenced last August 6, 2011, with exemption on several gasoline grades over a six-month transition period.

Golez: Redistricting likely but 2nd flyover uncertain
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

The redistricting of Bacolod City has a 90 percent chance of pushing through, but Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. said he is uncertain about the status of the second flyover for Bacolod City.

Golez said that, perhaps, by June or July next year, Bacolod will be divided into two districts based on the developments in the Senate.

He said that because Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel learned that he and Mayor Evelio Leonardia are united in the splitting of Bacolod City district, he also wants to become one of the principal authors of the Bill apportioning Bacolod City into two districts.

Hmmm... i think indi kay ang KK is not accepting franchise eh... so malabo nga maging resource person si Paul... amo na nga exclusive distributorship lang... mahal mahal ang franchising so to speak... sa press release nila, 20 Million ang ila nga factory store kag 10-15 Million ang ila nga fresh store... t maanu ka da... pero if KK considers opening up a branch in Bacolod... WHY NOT COCONUT???? :)

And since MassKara is now on live music, I would like to see them perform, together with the country's finest festivals at next year's Aliwan Festival.

^^i'd love to see them in aliwan.:okay:

^^let's put it this way. she's not satisfied with what she saw...kay the envelope is already on her, opened it and when luis gave kris the cue to announce the result, she called on the tabulators, SGV for some clarification. tapos, she handed the envelope na lang to FMG for him to announce the winner. daw nagkuhitay sila ni ai-ai sa stage samtang gina-announce na ang winner.

Really?....tsk tsk tsk...but Im sure our contingent took the attention of many interested "star makers"...malay mo sa next nga international event di sa aton the pride of San Carlos would be their choice of entertainment

Ayaw niyo magkaroon sa SM or sa Robinsons? :)

^^So you like Blue Magic stuff? Kasi as far as I know, Cebu lang ang may Blue Magic sa Visayas. :)

Syempre, we love to have that famous gift shop. I bought cuddly stuff from Blue Magic for my ex a long time ago :D :D

Daw Venice of Bacólod na karun ang gwa sina Doc? Who are the owners of the various lots dira Doc aw? Kanugon kung indi ma-utilize ang bilog na area though I agree it can be a eco-tourism area. :)

Hmmmmmm. Owners?...di ko syado kilala ah.......since time in memorial ang Carvic, RCA, Valderrama Mansion, Ascalon Mansion, Maravilla (Pendys/Ikthus) Mansion, Sunnyville, Robinsons and CDIP areas are brackish and freshwater swamps full of fishponds, nipa and mangrove. So very prone to flooding gid. The original ground level of this area of Mandalagan is exemplified by that road beside A.Chan Building and Goodyear Servitek. its almost a meter lower than Lacson Street.:ohno:...so dapat those ponds remaining near San Mateo Village in Purok Langis would remain as the catch basin for future floodings....we had several major floodings in Mandalagan attributed to flashfloods and high tide happening at the same time (1991, 1999, 2006)

I hope not just 15th Street but also 16th Street... wish ko pa guid ya tani nga ang 1st Street asta 22nd Street may access tanan sa North Drive to relieve traffic since this would mean a lot more alternative roads. :okay:

the very old street plan of Bacolod shows us that the 1st to the 22nd Street is crossed by SAn Agustin St, but currently its just up to the 17th, and those streets you have mentioned actually are planned to reach the BS Aquino and Hilado Streets, but I think those owners of private lots of the Capitol Subdivision (1st-27th Street lots) still hasn't donated their properties to become road lots

sad news gali for bacolod and the whole of negros occidental...2 of our illustrious leaders passed away...what a coincidence at that. they share the same surname.

wilson gamboa, sr...councilor, assemblyman, DAR secretary, DND undersecretary, SRA chairman

romeo gamboa..vice governor for 3 terms

both died at age 69.

Those areas we are talking about I have shaded in this map. This is the perennially flooded area of Mandalagan...so that includes our most important booming areas now:ohno:
http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc430/docdoms/MandalaganRiversystem.png

Those encircled areas are parts of the Mandalagan River system that were "cut-off" or narrowed by developments in the 60's to the 80's that have contributed to increased frequency of flooding....Capitolville, Lopues Mandalagan and Villa Valderrama-Santa Clara area

with the extensive drainage system of the Mandalagan River, developers should think wisely on how to get through this natural challenge without compromising the surrounding natural environment and residential areas

We don't want to see rising skyscrapers and business parks surrounded by communities perennially flooded due to poor land development and management

I think those "cut-off" or narrowed waterways should be rechanneled to a larger (maybe artificial) arterial waterway. Even if they elevated the areas pero covered the waterways in the process, that would still catastrophic in the long run. Flood control management is the important key. :ohno:

korek...ang sa akon tani they would have put bigger drainage pipes from Mandalagan River running beneath Carvic and Lacson Street then have them drain directly to the sea out of San Mateo, Banago.....and have that creek at CDIP widened to act as a floodway.

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negros Occidental Provincial Bids and Awards Committee is conducting the bidding for the construction of the P107 million hospital in Sipalay City at 2 p.m. today, Acting Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. said yesterday.

The two-hectare hospital site in Brgy. Canturay, Sipalay City, that is worth P15 million, was donated by Merceditas Javellana Montilla, a cousin of Sipalay Mayor Oscar Montilla and Alvarez.

Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr., PBAC chair, said that, as of yesterday afternoon, Dynamic Builders and JBC Enterprises had bought bidding documents for the hospital construction.

The 75-bed hospital with 14 private rooms, will have a decompression chamber to cater to the needs of scuba divers who frequent southern Negros, Alvarez said.

Officials to push for 4 roads to Silay airport (http://www.visayandailystar.com/archives.visayandailystar.com/2007/July/16/topstory1.htm)

Montelibano said they agreed that aside from the McKinley Road they will push for three other roads leading to airport:

These are the Nacab, Talisay road leading to the airport; the extension of the Bacolod Circumferential Road to the Silay airport for the passengers from Bacolod and the south; and the Kansilayan Road in Murcia passing through Granada, First Farmers, Bagtic, Tanza, Barrio Nangka leading to Victorias Milling Co. for trucks hauling sugarcane to sugar mills and plane passengers from Murcia, Ma-ao in Bago, La Carlota and the south, Montelibano said.

It was also agreed that the 2,000-meter runway of the new Silay airport be extended by 500 meters as pushed by Puentevella, Montelibano said. Puentevella said the extension will allow the landing of larger aircrafts for international flights at the Silay airport.
