The problem of our officials is always on the political will. Look at how they take no action for Shopping-Libertad drivers who drive as hell in the streets of Bacólod, also with the jaywalking pedestrians at the Robinson's area. Pathetic traffic situation indeed. :ohno:

shopping drivers are the best example of reckless drivers.... the counterflow..stop at will at corners and intersections... does not look at their side mirrors when turning... even stopping at the middle of the street without regards to the cars following them...

anyway Pulupandan has also its newest attraction, the Irrawaddy Dolphins...amo na nga daw indi na lang ko magsugot nga may taytay pa da nga ibutang kay basi ma disturb ang isolated nga population sang Irrawaddy Dolphins sa Pulupandan, Bago kag Guimaras. Critical na nga daan ila status with very few ones na lang subong.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3e/Irrawaddy_Dolphin.jpg

Irrawaddy Dolphin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irrawaddy_dolphins)
Although sometimes called the Irrawaddy river dolphin, it is not a true river dolphin, but an oceanic dolphin that lives in brackish water near coasts, river mouths and in estuaries. It has established subpopulations in freshwater rivers, including the Ganges and the Mekong, as well as the Irrawaddy River from which it takes its name. Its range extends from the Bay of Bengal to New Guinea and the Philippines.
It is often seen in estuaries and bays in Borneo Island, with sightings from Sandakan in Sabah, Malaysia, to most parts of Brunei and Sarawak, Malaysia. A specimen was collected at Mahakam River in East Kalimantan.
No range-wide survey has been conducted for this vulnerable species; however, the worldwide population appears to be over 7,000, with over 90% occurring in Bangladesh. Populations outside Bangladesh and India are classified as critically endangered. Known subpopulations of Irrawaddy dolphins are found in eight places, listed here in order of population, including conservation status.

Bangladesh; 5,832 (VU) in coastal waters of the Bay of Bengal[8] and 451 (VU) in the brackish Sundarbans mangrove forest[9][10]
India; 138 (VU) in the brackish water Chilka Lake[11]
Laos and Cambodia; 66-86 (CR) in a 190 km (118.1 mi) freshwater stretch of the Mekong River[12]
Indonesia; (CR), in a 420 km (261.0 mi) stretch of the freshwater Mahakam River
Philippines; about 77 (CR) in the brackish inner Malampaya Sound Researchers are studying the recent discovery of 30-40 dolphins sighted in the waters of Bago City and Pulupandan town in the province of Negros Occidental, in Western Visayas
Burma; about 58-72 (CR) in a 370 km (229.9 mi) freshwater stretch of the Ayeyarwady River
Thailand: less than 50 (CR) in the brackish Songkhla Lake.

^^ We have the privilege of having Irrawaddy dolphins and the only province not just in the Region ;) but in the whole Philippines confirmed so far having these species of dolphin. Dapat guid man we should protect them kay dunang manggad sang Negros ini. :ohno:

exactly amigo, indi man ta gusto nga puro balati-anon na ang mga party goers ta someday esp to those that are non-smokers, in such case it will encourage the non-smokers to go club hopping, at the end the revenue will increase kag sila man mismo ang maka benipisyo.we'd like to party and enjoy the music, but not the second hand smoke please which is very very much harmful...political will to implement is badly needed. but, the ultimate question is who will? :ohno::ohno::ohno::bash::bash::bash: calling CLO and City Health personnel if this falls under your loving and tender care...

Actually migs FARMC in Lawi, Jordan (Guimaras) has recorded isolated sightings of Irrawaddy Dolphins between Iloilo City and Jordan area.

these dolphins are usually accustomed to people in rivers and estuaries.

Maybe these dolphins love the brackish waters along the mouths of Bago and Iloilo Rivers thats why damo sa ila dira ga sayo.

it's bcoz mga migs lax kaayo ang implementation sang traffic rules and regulations ta which i already pointed out previously regarding sa illigal parking on every shoulders/corners of our streets. about naman sa mga batinggilan nga mga drivers blame it on the LTO kay halos bala nga mga addict nga drivers ara gihapon ga exist and they care nothing at all regarding sang mga laws ta kay ang ila gina intiende ang magka income para may higopon naman, (pwera sa wala ga higop pero dungol gihapon). daw ka useless sang drug testing kag ang iban naman nga mga BTAO enforcers, kung kilala nila gina pa bulag-bulagan lang kag gina talikdan nga daw wala kuno abi sang may nakita, kang kung madakpan naman ang license ka driver may ara man mga enforcers nga gina pagawad tag Php50.00/license, which is supposedly Php100.00 ina plus a briefing/seminar at BTAO office mismo. ti ang resulta damo dunggol kay ang ga implement mismo amo man ang utro, pwera sa maayo. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :bash: :bash: :bash: :hammer:

ABOUT PIETRO KAFFEE

In October 2007, Pietro Kaffee was first opened at SM Supermalls, Bacolod City. We welcomed our guests with enthusiasm showing the billboard and bold posters of our own Lavazza super heroes all over the place; that made it very interesting! It was first conceptualized as a plain coffee shop with some pastries and pasta that best compliment with coffee. In a matter of short time people in Bacolod suggested that we should also serve menus. Real food they are looking. Like a one stop shop for meetings to save time and so we did. And just recently, we added the "gelato".

Pietro Kaffee named after the son of the owner Peter, "Pietro" in Italian. It is pioneered in Bacolod as a company owned establishment. It was supposed to be in Manila but the owner decided to open it here first as her legacy since she grew up and studied here. The place has a quiet ambience; not a regular store in the mall because it doesn't have a mall entrance. Rather, it has an independent entrance in the alfresco, corner south wing. It would also a plus factor if it has its own mall entrance in the interior in the future.

The interior was designed in such a way that it would create a warm feeling like in home. Pietro is one if not the first of the places in SM Bacolod as WiFi zone.

Pietro has become the host of press conferences of celebrities when they come to Bacolod. Gretchen Barreto, Gabby Conception, Marc Nielson, Richard Poon, Valerie Concepcion, Megan Young, Rivermaya, etc.

Not to forget we sell and serve Italian wines.

Oh I see. thanks sir! :okay:

anyways, found this:
The Cebu Port Authority (CPA) was created through the enactment of Republic Act No. 7621 signed on June 26, 1992 to specifically administer all ports located in Cebu Province, thus, effectively separating these ports from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) system. CPA began operations and officially took over all Cebu ports on January 1, 1996.

Here's a rough draft of our itinerary:

DAY 1: Saturday
8:00 AM arrival at Bacolod-Silay Airport
- breakfast at El Ideal
- Silay City Tour
*San Diego Pro-cathedral
*Bernardino-Jalondoni Museum
*Hofileña Ancestral House
*Balay Negrense
*walk around Silay City

Day 2: Sunday
* San Sebastian Cathedral
Capitol Park and Lagoon

.... And it ends there. :( we leave on monday, 5 PM. By the way, there's only two of us, both females. :)

Suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. :)
I suggest cutting your Silay Tour into two parts, Saturday and Monday. Suggested ammendments on the itinerary...

Saturday:
- San Diego Pro-cathedral, Bernardino-Jalandoni Museum, Hofileña Ancestral House and walk around Silay City
- follow the rest of Doc's suggestions
* I highly suggest trying coffee or sandwich at the Museum Café after the tour; wines are available after 4pm.

Sunday:
- follow Doc Boy's suggestion

Monday:
- souvenir shopping (eg. Virgie's or Margie's; Central Market; ANP Showroom)
*note: There is a Bong-Bong's Shop in the airport premises and Merci Pasalubong booth outside the Pre-departure Area
- Balay Negrénse
- Early lunch at Balaring (11+am)
- Coffee at Café 1925
*note: Since you are in already Silay, you may check in between 3:30-4pm but NEVER beyond that time.

There you go! If you want a free tour guide, one of these guys will be much happy to tour you. I will be in the Metropolitan Bacólod area by Friday 'til Monday so I can suggest more or suggest ammendments. I hope you enjoy your stay and feel free to post photos here.

Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean by PDO and PMO? it seems hindi kasama ang Cebu sa listahan dito sa Visayas. :dunno:
PDO means Port District Office with which we have PDO Luzon, PDO Visayas and PDO Mindanao while PMO means Port Management Office with local ports under them, goes like this: PPA > PDO Visayas > PMO Iloilo > sub-PMO San Jose > Port of Semirara.

Speaking of Turtle Building, ano ang purpose, mix-use lang guid or office sang isa ka company? 8-9 storeys is too tall for a mix-use building and more so if its a local company office. Could it be possible that this is actually a hotel or a BPO-ready facility? :D

Mambukal Resort is one of the few fruit bat/ flying fox reserves in the country. They are very much an endangered species and in the brink of extinction, even in Negros Island. Indi complete ang akun Mambukal experience without these fruit bats flying overhead. :D

Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Golden-crowned_Flying_Fox)

Recent surveys have found A. jubatus roosting with P. vampyrus on the islands of Bohol, Boracay, Cebu, Leyte, Luzon, Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros and Polillo. The Giant Golden-crowned Flying-fox is confined to the rainforests of the Philippines, where it occurs mostly at elevations from sea level to 1100 m. Acerodon jubatus prefer uninhabited areas. A 2005 study found none in inhabited areas. The same study also revealed that these bats use river corridors more than originally thought, because the fig trees located near rivers are the bats' main source of food. Mildenstein also states that they do like to be close to agricultural fields but only in undisturbed forest areas. In another study Stier shows that this species is a forest obligate species, staying in the forest a majority of the time. Since this is a forest obligate species, conservation will require the preservation of forest areas. Human encroachment on the bat's habitat in forest and lowland areas is a major factor in the species endangered conservation status.

Sa diin ni siya migs, sa Alijis ini siya? Basi ma-resurrect ni siya soon kay the City Government is trying to regulate vehicles in and out of Bacólod City. Transport Terminals are always meant to be new growth areas once they are established, biskaan diin pa na.

yes migs dira. Im not sure kung may ga squat nada.

Kung project under Congressional funds pa guid na, mas hamo makagan-it. :ohno:

Tani gin una lang nila ang sa piyak nga lane nga grabe nagid ang guba ya. Ang sa piyak nga wala mayu crack kag kung may crack gamay manlang but laba. Siguro kung laba ang crack daku nga repair, faku man magan-it.

Basi guro sa quality sang kalamay nga gin-usar basi no? Nami guid man merienda sa atun a. :eat:

try kona bala ang suman with pandan..:)
