DI MAN PAULIHI ANG MURCIA SA DEVELOPMENTS (http://www.sunstar.com.ph/bacolod/local-news/2011/11/21/murcia-features-christmas-village-191698)

Meanwhile, Montelibano said several major projects are set to be inaugurated soon in Murcia.

Near completion is the P7.5-million Murcia Health Clinic that will serve like a mini-hospital. He said the new health clinic would cater to the medical services and birthing. The repair is funded by the Municipal Government, the Provincial Government and the office of Representative Albee Benitez (3rd district, Negros Occidental).

Aside from the health clinic, set for completion is the repair of the second floor of the municipal building where the mayor’s office and the Municipal Council offices are located.

Because of the cooperation of the municipal officials and the people of Murcia, the local government was able to attain development faster, Montelibano said.

Today, Monday, Montelibano is set to hold a dinner with about 30 Japanese investors who are coming for the hiring of skilled workers to Japan. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)

Yep, but if we register it to the National Historical Commission, it will have funding and protection. So di gid tama kabug-at sa tanan.

Gabaldon and Marcos-type buildings have proved themselves typhoon-proof and less of a fire-hazard, so maybe preserve some of these "able" buildings...unless daw ka dilapidated na gid.

Maybe if they would follow the restoration and preservation of Rizal Elementary School where the wood flooring and some of the beams were maintained but the outer walls were replaced by concrete but were designed to look like "wood"

Well, we have much to thank the La Salle Brothers for building a high-class coliseum which concert performances in Bacólod uses. :) Anyway, I just hope many more of our kasimanwas and government officials be aware of heritage preservation. :ohno:

As the legend says...hehehehe...ang man-og nga nag "balabag"...hehehehe...another story says that it might also come from the word "balbag" or to strike wooden boxes filled with shrimp to extract the reddish liquid from the wood that gives shrim paste or guinamos its distince flavor and color.

At least Doc, NegOcc is helping their rice industry and its economy as a whole. In short, may kwarta ang NegOcc pangpabakal products to buffer such commodity. Nothing's wrong with importation of products. Singapore gani almost 90% of its basic needs are sourced from other countries. Reason? Limited land nila kag damo kwarta ang Singapore govt para mamakal ila food requirements. ;)

USLS gets two placers in Chem Eng’g exam
Nov 21, 2011
By Mark Christopher Duenas

The University has 15 passers in the November 2011 Chemical Engineer Licensure Examination and recorded a passing rate of 75 percent.

The passing rate of USLS is higher than the national passing rate which is now at 47.17 percent, lower than last year’s 59.28 percent.

Furthermore, two Lasallians entered the Top 10 list of passers.

Joeval Alipin landed 3rd place with an average of 81.3 percent while Glenmon Libo-on placed tenth with an average of 80 percent.

Alipin was the lone student to graduate Suma Cum Laude last March.

With its higher passing rate this year, USLS ranked third nationwide trailing behind University of the Philippines-Diliman and the University of San Carlos.

migo Kanlaon has been open for (resumption) climbing 3 years ago. just visit PENRO office for details....the annual Kanlaon Safari is one of the Philippine's first and biggest climbing events that started in 1977. Eruptions in 1978, 1983, 1985, 1988 and 1992 never failed to stop people from climbing. I took my first assault up to its crater/peak in 1992. It ws only in 1996 after a fatal phreatic eruption that the climb was suspended and went defunct....Got lost and stranded for one night near Hardin Sang Balo in 1994...I lost a good friend there in 1995

An SSC Bacolod climb is not yet that feasible. Indi pa ta gani ka organize sang aton outing. Lets contend to our annual meet and informal meet-ups ah. Once may proper structure na ang grupo, we could plan out future activities and events.

A demo on calibration of oil tankers was conducted at the Provincial Metrology Center and Oil Tanker Calibration Building, Brgy. 6, San Juan St, Bacolod City, recently.

The facility which was inaugurated during the time of former governor and now Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro P. Zayco, offers calibration services for weighing scales, gasoline pumping meters and fuel tankers.

DOST Regional Director Engr. Rowen Gelonga said that the center also offers services anytime a company tanker needs it as it is a must before they are allowed to travel.

The Metrology Center will also ensure that the mass and volume equipment have accurate readings.

He said even weighing scales used in markets can avail of the calibration service as many Local Government Units go to the DOST for this service.
Meanwhile, the provincial government and DOST co-funded the facility and operates on a 70-30 profit sharing. Seventy percent for the province and 30 percent for DOST.

Taiwanese honoring guv with award
BY CARLA GOMEZ

A university in Taiwan is citing Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. for his work in agriculture at rites set on November 29, Bro. Lorenzo Agustin of the Congregation of St. John the Baptist , said yesterday.

The Ming Dao University in Taichung City will give the governor a lifetime achievement award for agriculture, and a special citation for his advocacy and implementation of organic farming, Agustin said.

The governor, who said he was thankful for the awards that will be given to him, added that he is also meeting with potential investors in Negros Occidental during his trip.

The governor said he is very optimistic about Negros Occidental’s economy with a lot of investors having expressed interest in the province.

He said yesterday John Forbes of the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with him and spoke of investment interests in the call center industry, tourism, and retirement villages, among others.

Col. Mathew Greco, Army attaché of the US Embassy in the Philippines, also separately met with the governor yesterday to ask about the peace and order situation in the province.

The governor also said sugar prices were not bad, noting that government appears to have curbed sugar smuggling.*CPG

Mayor urges support for new revenue code
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Leonardia appealed to the businessmen to help in the smooth implementation of the New Revenue Code since they have already harvested the bonanza of the low tax rates that Bacolod had been offering for 18 years now.

It is about time and it is overdue, that they give to Bacolod what is due to it so the city could perform better, he said

Leonardia said the Tax Ordinance of Bacolod is 18 years old despite the fact that the Local Government Code provides that local governments should adjust their tax codes every five years.

That way we have more control over our affairs kay may ara kita sang aton kaugalingon nga representative sa national level, and ma hold ta man sila accountable in the process.

Judo’s ironman Baylon falls short of 10th SEAG Gold, announces retirement

For a total of nine editions of the SEA Games, Filipino judoka John Baylon was indeed untouchable in whichever division he participated in. Beginning in the Manila SEA Games in 1991, where he fought in the 78-kg. division and when Cory Aquino was still president, the 47-year-old Baylon would win the gold medal in his weight class nine straight times, missing out only in the 1999 Brunei SEAG when judo was not included. The man singlehandedly won more SEAG golds than the Philippine men's basketball team during the same timeframe.

Guv: Traders manipulate sugar prices

| More |
By Teresa Ellera-Dulla
Tuesday, November 22, 2011

NEGROS Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. believed one of the causes of the downward trend in sugar prices is the manipulation by sugar traders.

At the start of the crop year, domestic sugar prices at mill site averaged P1,300 per LKg (50-kilo bag) but dropped to an average of P1,155 per LKg during last week’s bidding.

Marañon said there is also a carry-over of sugar supply from the last crop year's production, which contributes to the present drop in prices.

Once the stocks are sold in the local and world markets, the governor expects that prices will rebound.

Marañon said sugar smuggling has been minimized under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III.

Some small planters have already asked the President through a letter-petition to act on their plight brought about by the drop in the prices of sugar this crop year.

Meanwhile, the governor asked the truckers to avoid overloading, especially those hauling the sugarcane to the sugar mills. Overloading destroys the concrete roads and the spilled canes pose a danger to motorists at the highways.

Despite the drop in the prices of sugar, Marañon is optimistic about the economy of Negros. He said several investors have visited the province and saw prospects for their investments.

An American investor from the American Chamber of Commerce visited Tuesday the governor’s office. Marañon said the investor is eyeing to an investment(retirement) village in the province.

Lacson.

BPOs and tourism drive Cebu’s growth
By: Irene R. Sino Cruzm, Inquirer Visayas

Monera says that the ALI group also sees bright prospects in other areas of the Visayas and Mindanao, where they have several projects.

In the next two to three years, Ayala would be investing between P3 billion and P5 billion in Bacolod City in five subdivision projects (Ayala North Point, Plantazionne Verdana Homes, Verdana Homes Asyana, Avida NorthPoint and Amaia Scapes NorthPoint), Ayala Northpoint Retail, Ayala Northpoint Technohub and in its project at a property owned by the Negros Occidental provincial government.

As far as I know, Lacson descendants commissioned a statue for him. It is currently being finished in Silay pero I don't know it it will rise on the spot of his current memorial. I think he deserves a big one, just like Gen. Juan Araneta.

Drip irrigation ang akun i-utilize dira kay veggies don't need too much water, just ample and consistent drops. Gabasa na ko gani modules from Israel kung paano ang proper na paghimo. Most likely by motor pump ang irrigation or ramp pump.

This is done by ECJ farms sang gapatubo sila orchard. ang even upto now sa ila mango, durian, and other fruit trees orchard from pontevedra to la carlota and himamaylan.

It needs an elevated water containment, then ang tubo mo. the sa tubo, mabuslot ka da gamay, a small hole enough to initiate a drip.
