Amo na nga daw common na sang iban nga dialects kag foreign languages ang mabatian mo sa dalanon,restos,cafes,hotels kag resorts in Bacolod and The rest of Neg Occ.Before sa Dumaguete or Boracay and Cebu mo Lang ni makita nga crowds.

Hmmmm....we will see...basi ya, modern family and life but ga clash with the haciendero-sacada culture of past Negros. Just like the teleserye CEBU (Cherie Gil) and BORACAY (Joel Torre) aout two decades ago in RPN 9 TV.

Interesting product indeed migs. I think I know the microchip inside this. I think it is Pxxx5 (TI People would know) designed by Texas Instruments and actually assembled/ tested in Philippines (most likely Baguio as Clark just started). Our company bought the product division and we are integrating this product with our very own chips for greater function. If I am right I am working with the designer of above product personally. :)

I was there actually during your launching. Dugay ko na gd ni gina look forward. Kadugay mag lab-ot sa amun area. When is your target date for South Area? :) Daw gina una nyo gd ang mga lugar sg mga BIGTIME di sa Bacolod. Heheheheh..:banana::banana:

some people call it tinikal and magic kuno kay ga dagdag bawas floors knu mga building sa Negros.well why dont they come and visit Bacolod and Negros to experience MAGIC.sa fast rate sg developments ang gakatabo sa ciudad kag probinsya ta subong is indeed magical.hahaha!hahaaay na lg!ngaa may hisaan sa kalibutan man? :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: :banana:

high rise structures are signs of progress i agree.but it also signifies one thing, lack of space.being densely populated is not something to be proud of specially if the population is only concentrated to one tiny city leaving other parts of the province a huuuuuge bamboo plantation and just being left infested by "kohols" not to mention the bald/bare/naked/unclothed mountains.one thing we have that you dont....SPACE!a clean and green space, with modern structures in it.you can start drooling!hahahaha

Guv, UP president to lead agri facility groundbreaking

University of the Philippines president Alfredo Pascual will be in Bacolod City Wednesday, to meet with Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and UP alumni in breaking ground for a P6 million-Tissue Culture Laboratory at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños College of Agriculture - Research and Training Station La Granja, La Carlota City.

This is part of the Sustainable Agri-Livestock Technology -Training and Extension program, and the facility is a collaboration between the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, the U.P. at Los Baños and the UPLB Alumni Foundation in Negros Occidental, a press release from the organizers said.

‘FreshStart’, provincial gov’t produce new coffee blends

FreshStart Organics has produced two organic coffee blends that are all grown under shaded trees using the raw materials of small farmers.

The project is assisted by the province of Negros Occidental, Ramon Uy Jr. - president of Organic na Negros! Organic Producers and Retailers Association, and FreshStart Owner said yesterday.

The coffee products are the Negrense Native Organic Coffee (Single Origin) and the Mt. Kanlaon Premium Blend Organic Coffee. The group is also packaging a new brand, the Hacienda ‘Estate-grown’ Organic Coffee, Uy said.

Coffee plants in Negros Occidental are naturally shade-grown and flourish as part of the understory in tropical rainforests, he said.

Coffee does not only produce economic income but also contributes to the biodiversity of the forests, protection of bird habitats, Uy also said.

He said that its production also benefits small coffee farmers like the additional harvest in fruit and nuts, less exposure to toxic chemicals, and minimal production costs.

“The demand for coffee is high thus many producers have turned to sun-grown coffee to meet it but growing it needs protection from pesticides andrequires forest leveling,” Uy said.

During production, the red coffee cherry is selectively handpicked to ensure best quality and because it is allowed to mature more slowly in the shade, the natural sugar increases and enhances its flavor, he also said.

Negrense Native Organic Coffee is a single-origin coffee and has a deeply rich flavor while the raw materials of Mt. Kanlaon Premium Blend Organic Coffee are grown at the foot of Mt. Kanlaon volcano and have a high-toned aroma, Uy said.*LTG

2012 WVRAA Meet opens today

The 2012 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet opens this afternoon, 3:30 p.m. at the Panaad Park and Stadium with host Negros Occidental committing to make the weeklong competition one of the biggest events in the province this year.

Negros’ bid for the national Palaro has the support of Philippine Sports Commissioner chairman Richie Garcia, Executive Assistant to the Governor for Sports Angel Verdeflor said.

Meanwhile, today’s opening ceremony of the 2012 WVRAA Meet will be ushered by a Sports Forum this morning, 9 a.m., at the Panaad Stadium with two-division boxing champion Donnie Nietes as main speaker.

Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri will address the delegates in the afternoon’s opening ceremony while Geronimo Esguerra, DepEd Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs will deliver a message on behalf of DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro.

The opening rites will also feature a playground demonstration from the students of Negros Occidental High School and a festival presentation from Bacolod City’s MassKara, Talisay City’s Minuluan, San Carlos’ Pintaflores, La Carlota’s Pasalamat, and Kabankalan’s Udyakan.

USLS-IS keeps title in SGVL reg’l finals

Defending champion University of St. La Salle-Integrated School needed five sets to tame the hard fighting team from Central Philippine University to keep its regional title of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League at the USLS College Covered Court yesterday.

Coach Lozada, on the other hand, said the same USLS-IS team will suit up for Negros in the regional meet, after which, they will head for Davao City for the SGVL national finals.

Phoenix Petroleum moves to increase presence in Visayas

Phoenix Petroleum Philippines aims to increase revenues from its operation in the Visayas by up to 50% next year with the increase in the number of its stations in the region.

But Mr. Uy said aside from the P500 million for retail outlets, the company was also spending another P300 million for three depots, including one in Bacolod for Negros Island.

He noted the company already has a depot in Aklan, which is seen to boost sales on Panay Island.

Another depot, Mr. Uy said would be located in Cebu

Hmmmm we're in close proximity to UP Visayas and UP College Cebu it might be difficult, but yes, they could expose their students who major in agriculture technology, genetic engineering, molecular biology, botany, zoology,geography, ecology, etc. to Negros as one of their apprentice/internship areas...It would be wise also for TUP-V (or Mapua) to open Geology, Volcanology, Seismology here, since the island is enough to provide actual exposure. :banana:

Rivas, a Negrense who has been living in Australia for more than four decades, said Negros Occidental has excellent medical facilities, a friendly populace, while the cost of living is very, very cheap.

Unlike other areas of the country, Rivas said he is s banking on the assurance of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. that the province is safe for foreigners.

Juvic finishes 35th, earns P2.6M in WGC

MANILA, Philippines -- After winning the 2011 Asian Tour of Merit, 33-year-old homegrown Filipino pro golfer Juvic Pagunsan is now making heads turn on the US PGA Tour.

Pagunsan joined his first ever PGA Tour event last week -- the $8.5-million World Golf Championships (WGC)-Cadillac Championship at the TPC Blue Monster in Miami, Florida.

To add to that feat, Pagunsan bested world-known golfers such as Korean KJ Choi, who was tied for 35th as well, and known for his third-place finish in the 2004 US Masters.

Pagunsan also bested three-time US Masters winner Phil Mickleson, who finished tied for 43rd, and Sergio Garcia, who finished tied for 60th. Garcia has a had top 5 finishes in the Masters, US Open, and the PGA Championships.

Lapad man yuhum ko pagkakita ko sang ini nga update about MyVan ba. Wow! Kag may basement parking pa! Maayo gid ang ila location, lusot2 5th kag 6th street. Bastante ang Imay's gali sini kag ang iban nga restaurants near the area, may readily available nga customers :lol::lol::lol:

One thing I must point out though is that people are now wary of basement parking after the basement parking area of one condominium go flooded several times already. Every time it rains, its residents have to get their car and move it up onto the main street.

Parking is very important and should be considered carefully. That is probably why that condominium developer had a bit of a hard time selling their units.

My parents were thinking of getting a unit at the Horizon Tower in the reclamation area. The lack of covered parking at that location made them cancel the plan to buy a unit there. The other problem is that it is built at the reclamation area which is prone to liquefaction during an earthquake.

Myvan should think of elevating the parking area to the 2nd and 3rd levels.

Makita mo gid nga kun hospitality towards guests and visitors, wala ga dinalok ang Negros Occidental. They always put their best foot forward and make sure nga well taken care of ang mga bisita. Ang stadium and sports facilities are definitely more than satisfactory. Playing venues are comfortable enough for players. Sa Panaad Stadium pa lang nga daan happy na sila and refreshed

I believe may Mechatronics na nga course subong sa TUP-V migs. Also, ECE has been changed to EE (Electronics Engineering) para nga mag fit sa international standard. Kita lang ang country bi nga may ECE nga course. Pero personally mas namian ko nga officially gin double major na lang gid nga course ang ECE. In order to make room for other technical subjects kakason lang ang minor nga subjects like sociology, psychology kag filipino :lol::lol::lol:

just a minor correction migs. to differentiate electrical engg from electronics engg, the acronym is retained as ECE and not EE. EE is for electrical engineers.

but it's correct that "communications" was already dropped from our title. it's now ELECTRONICS ENGINEER (ECE)...:)

Bacolod airport upgrade set

BACOLOD CITY -- The government has launched a program to improve the facilities and services of the Bacolod-Silay Airport amid passenger complaints on bad facilities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is working with the Silay City Tourism Office and Negros Occidental Provincial Tourism Office in launching "Program Kaayusan," the city government said in a statement.

Also to be undertaken are the landscaping of the airport lawn, improvement of the terminal’s interior design, repainting of the traffic signs, clearing of crawling vines in the runway and fixing of damaged drainage.

More than 200 members of the Facebook group page dubbed "Bacolod-Silay Airport… just our opinion!" have listed complaints ranging from dirty comfort rooms to lack of wi-fi connection to poor hygiene of airport personnel.

One thing I must point out though is that people are now wary of basement parking after the basement parking area of one condominium go flooded several times already. Every time it rains, its residents have to get their car and move it up onto the main street.

Parking is very important and should be considered carefully. That is probably why that condominium developer had a bit of a hard time selling their units.

My parents were thinking of getting a unit at the Horizon Tower in the reclamation area. The lack of covered parking at that location made them cancel the plan to buy a unit there. The other problem is that it is built at the reclamation area which is prone to liquefaction during an earthquake.

Myvan should think of elevating the parking area to the 2nd and 3rd levels.

That was my concern as well, nga basi bahaon ang basement parking. But then I remembered Lopues San Sebastian, gamay pa ko may basement parking na sila and I never heard of any concerns regarding flooding bisan may bagyo, and may creek pa sa tupad sina. Also I believe a water pump can easily handle this problem if ever man gid bahaon ang Lacson street :)

Maritime career showcase set

Three maritime companies are joining the Maritime Career Showcase of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation 7:30 a.m. March 19 at its covered court in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, Cheryl Pagunsan, chairman of the Career Maritme Showcase, said yesterday.

The companies are Jo Tankers Philippines, ODFJELL Philippines and the Norwegian Ship Owners Association, and more companies are expected to join it.

The activity will focus on graduating high school students and highlight maritime career opportunities and privileges from shipping companies in the country and abroad, she said.

I hope Manny Pangilinan would take Panaad again into consideration, since most of the Azkals now host their games at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Based sa huring-huring nga nasagap ko sang una plano abi tani ni Pangilinan mag ex-deal with the Prov'l Gov't to improve Panaad Stadium and be one of the venues of the games of Azkals from time to time but they will be changing the name of Panaad Stadium or attaching "SMART" to the name of the complex. But wala nadayun ^^

^^makit-an ta man migs sa mga projects and programs ni governor maranon nga gov't funds are well spent and to be fair, daw wala man kita nabal-an nga kamala-malahan sa pag-usar sa sini nga gov't funds.:)
