Actually last year pa waswas obra nila, hopefully this year makaoperate na ang new line para dugang obra. Sir Linguine indi na ma deny that we are the most industrialized in the region kay almost every month may ga fieldtrip di nga taga tabuk usually taga antique, kalibo kag capiz, when I ask them why here hambal nila ang mga planta kuno sa Lilo may ari man di so tingob na lang kay damo ta di nga wala to sa ila hehe.

Agree gid ko mig nga tahum gid ang bacolod kag hipid tan awon, yesterday I got the chance to lurk to other threads in Mindanao and visayas, naka yuhom man ako to see nga bisan medyo behind kita in terms sa infra developments but I'm proud nga nami ka city ta tan awon. they may have tall buildings in their cities but tinlo kag hipid kaayo ang bacolod, ka fresh pa tulukon kay damo greens. sa akon lang ni ya panan aw ha basi may mag react.

The congressman said repair of the roads, that have a six-month contract for completion, cost close to P200 million.

The steel works for the new Himogaan bridge has also began and is expected to be completed in 18 months or by August 2013, the solon added.

The new bridge and road that will cut travel time to Sagay City proper by 2.15 kilometers, Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. said earlier.

Rojas favors agro-eco sugar zones

The creation of integrated agro-industrial economic zones for sugarcane will benefit the industry because it will result in economy of scale and make sugar production more cost efficient, Enrique Rojas, president of the National Federation of Sugarcane Planters, said yesterday.

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) Wednesday said he is filing a bill that aims to raise the value of sugarcane through the creation of integrated agro industrial economic zones that will not only produce sugar, but fuel, power and other by-products, to enable the industry to survive trade liberalization beyond 2015.

To set the record straight, Paulino Alcántara Riestrá was not the first Filipino to play in Europe. Manuel Amechazurra was the first Filipino who joined the Football Club Barcelona from 1905 to 1915. FC Barcelona also won The Pyrenees Cup four times, from 1910-1913, with him. The Pyrenees Cup is the first football international in Europe. But the tournament stopped due to the beginning of World War 1 in 1914. It’s sad because our bisabuelo is not recognized here in the Philippines despite the fact that he brought so much glory to the country.

P400-M infra projects ongoing in 2nd district

SECOND District Representative Alfredo 'Thirdy' Marañon III said about P400 million worth of infrastructure projects are now being implemented in his district.

Marañon said the projects include P200 million for the construction and repair of various roads, and another P200 million worth of construction for the diversion road and bridge in Himogaan River in Sagay City.

The 3.5-kilometer diversion road will start in Hacienda Maya to the upper portion of Central Lopez in Fabrica, Sagay City.

The construction of the new bridge and diversion road was approved by President Benigno Aquino III, when Thirdy's father, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., presented the project to the President.

The roads under construction include the highway in Lag-asan, Cadiz City to Fabrica, Sagay City and other parts of the second district.

Meanwhile, Thirdy said he still has to think of some options on his political plans. He is now on his third and last term as representative of the district.

THE United Nations Population Fund, through the facilitation of the Rafael M. Salas Park and Nature Center Foundation Inc. (RMSPNCFI), has approved a P2-million grant for the Institute for Negros Development of the University of St. La Salle to implement a youth leadership for environment project at the Rafael M. Salas Park in Guintobdan, Bago City.

The project, entitled Youth Commitment for Sustainable Development, aims to organize and mobilize at least 50 youth leaders of Guintubdan and its neighboring communities and provide them with the needed knowledge, skills, orientation and support in order to realize their role as effective leaders and change agents for a more sustainable future.

It will challenge them to take the lead in conserving the forests and natural resources of Negros and in advocating for sustainable human development in their respective communities.

“After the duration of the 12-month program, these youth leaders are expected to have become highly aware of the principles of sustainability and apply these as a tool at individual, organizational and community level,” project leader Rhoderick Samonte said.

The project seeks to develop and strengthen the capacity of the youth necessary to conduct sustainable development projects in their own communities and link them with the wider youth community working together for more sustainable future.

A pledging ceremony was held during the launching of the said project on Thursday at the RKM Park and Nature Center. (TE)

Many hotels and pension houses in the province do not submit accurate figures of their guests. Their staff does not know statistics or they are afraid of taxation. Please, believe me. Tourism officers are interested with the number of your guests. We want to help you by telling future guests that your rooms are not for ghosts only.

Cristine Mansinares of the Provincial Tourism Office enlightened the stakeholders on the mission and vision of Negros Tourism Program based on the Negros First Policy. Board Member Nene de la Cruz assured everyone that the Provincial Board has approved a budget for the creation of Negros Occidental Tourism Council which will steer the oar of the industry through public – private partnership. Really, there was the outpouring of brains and many braved the storms for Negros tourism.

HRANO or the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental has higher figures since this association is in direct contact with hotels, motels and pension houses all over. They have the more accurate figure than the passed on stat-dependent DOT-VI. :cheers:

^^kag take note migs...sila ya ga-donate sa ila mga properties to the government. i make mention sa mga zayco's whose portion of land was donated for the present site of their city hall. the same man sa airport, donated man sya that's why, it did not cost them to buy the land where the U/C airport is built. well, the BGC also stands on a donated lot.

and who knows mig f mgka international flight pa ang kabankalan bisan seasonal lang.kay damu nice beaches sa south plus the roads nga well maintained,with markings,nice views along the way,mountains on the left,sea to the right.smooth ang byahe.mostly europeans mga owners ka beaches sa south no?

^^swiss and germans mostly. may ara man mga australians. i happen to meet the owner of takatuka before, who are swiss. grabe kabarato lang sa bakal nila sang beach front from the alejano's of sipalay. the son married a filipina from sipalay, they both met in palawan i was told, but decided to settle here.:)

Bacolod's land area is at around 160 sq km and the regional center of Western Visayas is at only between 60 to 70 sq km...considering the scope for future and maximized development, the WV reg'l center will lag behind Bacolod by 56% if land area will be the basis for future developments.

^^hmmm...good observation migs. that seems to be rather "minute" but the implication is that development is single-handedly supervised by a city unlike when 2 or more LGU's are involved. oftentimes, conflict in policies occur that scare away investors. short of saying, that too many hands spoil the broth.

^^gin tuod-tuod gid ya ni Dingdong Dantes ang pag eskwela sa WNU he's probably one of the few celebrities who went to WNU for their further studies, I believe he went to school in Lasalle integrated school - Bacolod in his elementary days. nice one WNU!

I heard the owner of WNU is a close friend of Dingdong. :)

After the completion of the airport developments in Kabankalan, San Carlos and Sipalay...Negros Occidental will have four (4) airports in operation, the most among the provinces of Western Visayas...this will boost tourism and spur economic development throughout Negros Island.

^^amo gid na basta taman ka excited, We can't blame them for that. these last 5 years Bacolod and Negros have become an emerging economy. although, provincial but it could go head to head along regional centers and we even surpassed some of them which they'll either accept it or deny it.:)

ang property sa lower left nga may swimming pool is owned by the lopue's.

It belongs to the Villasors mig, the lot of St Eziekel Monastery was also donated by them, ila man ina ang Gardenville Subd. and yes migo Buklod ang sa lower left is owned by the Lopues, we called that before Lopues pahanocoy ila na da nga rest house dira ko bi nag spend sg akon high school days sa florenceville so lapit lang gid na da sa amon.

Yes mig..pwede gid..para atleast ang taga south naga amat amat naman..ive notice bi ang ang development sang city pa north and pa east. Well, maybe one of the reasons ngaa daw turtle ang development sa south kay di pa tapos ang 6-lane nga dalan pakadto sum-ag and lack of political will i guess. Lets see what will happen kung magdaog si VM Sayson nga taga sum ag gid.

Talked to my brother in law whos also an engineer sa city ta, he said na ang bridge sa manville ayun maga sugod na. Ari na di ang mga koreans engineer. Thats good. Amat amat lang..pero expect na grabi na di ang traffic..hehhehe...

Migo Pompe,thanks sa mga clear kag katahum sang aerial shots mo.Mayo kay adlaw ang flight mo.Akon kay puro last flights,medyo dulom na.

Timing lang mig..actually take my flight sa ugto adlaw but never sa hapun kay may delay pa na daan as expected due to congestion sa NAIA. I tell you mig abi ko gani wala na tsansa kay naga ulan sang naghalin kami then somewhere sa panay area dampi we encountered thick clouds kag pirti nga turbulence..mayu lang sa guimaras na dampi..clear skies na..hehhehe..thanks mig..

Perfect timing ka gid Migs.Kalabanan pag abot na sa Bacolod dampi indi siya masyado cloudy.Paglampas Guimaras kit anon na gid ang slopes sang Negros.Thats why mostly makashot gid kita sa Bredco kag ang nami pa kay ang Piloto bala kis-a gina anounce gid ang view sa Bacolod kag ginapa hilay pa ang plane just like sang flight from Sydney to Brisbane gina anounce nga we are passingg the famous Sydney Bridge.Later on,manami na gid na ang skyline sang Bacolod.Subong okay naman kag makita na ang mga pag bag-o kag more masanag na sa gab-i.

Been here one time kag made me wonder nga wala man banda or show pero ang art district gutok to the point nga they need to put up additional tables para sa uhaw mag inom..love the place, affordable foods and drinks, kag pinakanami sa tanan..good ambience. Thats why Bacolod is not all about goldenfields this time kung nightlife ang storyahan..kay biskan sa south may ara naman..like ang Rogers along araneta infront of old airport.
