SP ratifies Bacolod-DepEd MOA

The MOA covers the construction of a three-Storey 24, classrooms building to be financed and procured by the participating local government, or the City of Bacolod.

The MOA states that DepEd recognizes that the city has the managerial and technical capability to undertake the procurement and implementation of construction projects involving new school buildings.

Bacolod City will put up the ETCS IV on its property at the Reclamation Area, under the 50 / 50 scheme of the DepEd. This is a 48-classroom building to be built in the 2-hectare property of the city

P3 million 7-cock derby starts in RGG Coliseum

Cockfighting enthusiasts will have a rare treat today when medium scale gamefowl raisers and big time breeders meet for the opening day of the P3 Million Guaranteed Prize 7-Cock Derby hosted by Ricky Castillo and Monju Guanzon at the RGG Multi-Purpose Coliseum in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Rizal Robles of RGG said 40 entries from Negros and invited cockers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are competing in this five-day competition.

Action will start at 2 p.m.

Entries with at least two victories in the three-cock elimination phase will automatically earn a slot in the four-cock championship on March 30, while those with 1.5 points will try their luck in the pre-finals on March 28.

Also set at the same venue is a 6-Bullstags Clean Up Derby sponsored by the Negros Gamefowl Breeders Association.

P1 Million is the guaranteed pot.

Nat’l age-group triathlon kicks off in Sipalay today

The National Age-Group Triathlon sponsored by the city government of Sipalay headed by Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr., in coordination with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, starts today in the coastal area of the city.

Triathletes who are joining in the competition will swim 1.5 kilometers in the pristine waters of Sipalay, bike for 40 kilometers on flat road, and run for 10 kilometers along the beach.

Endorsed by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., the event is also supported by the Department of Tourism-Region 6 and supervised by the Triathlon Association of the Island of Negros and the Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

The race will showcase Sipalay’s scenic coastal areas and is expected to boost the city’s tourism program.

Guv may testify on SM vs Capitol-Ayala land deal case

Lamis on her part contended that SMPHI does not have a strong case against the Provincial Government, as far as the certiorari case is concern.

Lamis explained that the second bidding on July 7 ,2011 prior to the negotiated bid was declared a failure by the Committee on Awards and Disposal because both bidders, SMPHI and Ayala Land Inc., were not able to meet the appraised value or the floor prize fixed by the Committee on Award and Disposal.

She added that, contrary to the claims of Bayhon, the appraised value or floor prize deso not need the approval of the Comission on Audit.

The fixing of the floor prize is management responsibility, she further stressed.

Nag enjoy gid sila pag abot kay barato kag manamit ang pagkaon sa Merci harap sg bascon. Then go kami sa Ruins. Baw daw indi maghalin sg picture-takings. We spent almost an hour didto then go sa labador in front sg white house. hehehe, then go sa Panaad stadium. Sang gabi nagkaon kami sa Manukan sa Aida's. Baw nagdoble gid sila kan on kay super namit sg inasal. Then nagtricycle pakadto sa capitol for picture picture naman kag naglakat lakat sa lacson until 11:30 PM na. Ginbasul pa nila ako nga wala kuno pulos nga taga negros kay kanami sg bacolod pero wala ko ginpromote sa ila. At least I let them discover the beauty of our city than to boast myself only to be humiliated by what they see. Oh di ba bongga? The next day, baw nagpamilit gid nga makadto sa Calea para lng sa cake nga famous dahil sa TV. kaya go ang mga lola (three kami nga girlash). At hindi ako napahiya uli dahil all praises sila sa cakes and inasal naton. Yes gid ina sya. Ang sa aton dira barato kag indi matrapik. Cebu is like manila na sa trapik kag kagalong. Kon may naipon na tani ako dira na lng ako sa bacolod manegosyo kay indi stressful. One thing I like sa pag travel namon sa davao, ang airport terminal nila katahum compared sa cebu nga daan na abi mong. The last time I was there was in 1997 during our national convention for chemical engineers. Ang terminal sa pihak pa. Gintapan gid nila ang bukid sg una sa pihak sg runway.

How the Negrense Eat
We sampled Aida’s chicken at Jayvee’s wedding and it is, so far, the best chicken inasal I’ve had anywhere! We heard they don’t use frozen chicken and that they marinate them for a whole day in vinegar or calamansi. How awesome is that?
Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten Calea – the best cakes in Bacolod. Best to go there with a few other buds so you can get a bite out of all their cakes! Haha!
I’m fascinated at how the Negrenses prepare and relish the food they serve. It’s actually very frustrating to go back to Manila and eat the overpriced stuff here that don’t even taste that good. Oh well, here’s hoping someone could take more of Bacolod to Manila – or everywhere! Can’t wait to go back to Bacolod!
