salamat amigo sa pag appreciate sg amn ciudad.
ive heard diretsoina sa Talisay ang pag reclaim.not sure lg )

Hehehehe...di migs ah....actually ang BREDCO nga original plan is to reclaim from Magsungay at the mouth of Lupit River up to Brgy 1 and 2 sa mouth sang Mandalagan River

but now I think ang BREDCO will be reclaiming until the Mirasol Wharf sa Sto Nino Stop at BS Aquino Drive-San Juan intersection.....the shoreline properties sang Pilipinas Shell and other fishing magnates are not yet willing to give up to the reclamation. But maybe kun ma develop na gid ang Banago ang they decide to reclaim the shoreline for a coastal road connecting BREDCO and Banago te mas better.:banana::banana::banana:

Good morning Bacolod, good morning Negros! Daw damo ta good news today

3 Bacolod markets need major repairs (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2012/May/08/topstory6.htm)

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Market Committee, said they have a budget for the repairs the three major markets in Bacolod.

Distrito said that P7 million is needed to repair the damaged stalls at the Burgos market but they only have P3.5 million available, for it out of the P12 million budget of the city.

He said that P1.5 million has already been allotted for the repair of the central market, while P7 million is intended for the reconstruction of the Libertad market.

thats why the local government right now is discussing on how to improve our public markets...too bad lang gid kag gamay ang budget alloted for these 3 major markets in Bacolod..There is one in Sum-ag, nga manugtapos naman ang renovation...I think it was funded by DPWH..so far ok na..:)

BREDCO is an international seaport for almost a decade na...thats why may quarantine office na dira. I have been seeing some seafarers from Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar kay naga pa consult sila sa OPD namun

Ang gina mean nga boulevard from Bacolod to "RN's huring-huring" Talisay's International Container Port is San Juan Street mismo nga palaparon kag padakuon halin sa Mambuloc thru Banago and accross the mouth of Matab-ang River and to Talisay

24-classroom building for NOHS soon to rise
(http://thereflector-nohs.journ.ph/2011/11/04/24-classroom-building-for-nohs-soon-to-rise/)

http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/s720x720/154582_264997206931516_100002637171750_495692_1557291804_n.jpg

A two-storey, 24-classroom building will soon rise at Negros Occidental High School.

The structure, which is a priority project of Gov. Alfredo G. Maranon Jr. and Vice Gov. Genaro Alvarez Jr. is in response to the need of the school for claarooms for the MAPEH classes which will be forced to vacate their present classrooms in the Paglaum Sports Complex building while the latter is undergoing rehabilitation.

NOHS principal Mr. Mario S. Amaca said that the building is somewhat a blessing in disguise because the loss of the old MAPEH classrooms gives way to the construction of a new and much better school structure.

“The proposed school building will be constructed on a now vacant lot along Libertad-Hernaez streets, which has , for many years, been occupied by the Mansor Security Agency and more or less five houses,” the Principal added.
The vacant lot is a donation from the Provincial Government in lieu of the agricultural lot located at Barangay 39 which is about a half kilometre away from the school.

“The Province Government has donated a lot for our agriculture classes. The said lot, however, required students to walk along the highway to and from school. This was not only a hassle to both teachers and students because precious minutes for lessons will be wasted but also very dangerous to them because of the traffic especially when students have to cross the streets, “ said Mr. Amaca.

It can be recalled that the agreement for the swapping of the lots was effected between NOHS former principal Nilda M. Monge and the late governor Alfredo Maranon Sr.

The construction of the proposed 24-classroom is expected to commence sometime on the first quarter of next year.

The Mambukal Mountain Hot Spring Resort
Submitted by Rolly Espina on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 06:53 Negros Opinion Rolly Espina The Monitor

Few are aware that the current project of the Mountain Hot Spring Resort in Mambukal is actually creating a major stir in Japan. The reason - working on it is the fifth most famous Japanese landscaper of the country - Kuchi Yamaguchi.

Yamaguchi has gained fame in Japan as the country’s top fifth landscaper firm’s owner.

In short, he has also gained prestige as one of the country’s best rice producers. Yearly, he is given audience by the Imperial Couple. He is admitted to their Royal Presence to present his first rice harvest for their imperial household. A rare privilege. But the surprise is that Yamaguchi has accepted to work on the project sans any compensation from the provincial government.

"It’s simply because I believe that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. really has dreamed of a Japanese type hot spring resort for the place," said Yamaguchi.

"Even if somebody had offered me to do something else with a big portfolio, I would not have accepted it. Instead, I opted to take on the provincial job without compensation," said Yamaguchi.

Members of the Bacolod Capitol Lions Club Saturday visited the site he is working on. Yes, Yamaguchi is working on it himself. Not just supervising the workers. He is personally working on the project, working on it from morning until evening. That’s the Yamaguchi trademark which has earned him the reputation among his Japanese fans. He personally picks the various stones used in the project. He measures them meticulously. And makes sure that they are properly placed.

For the Japanese, however, each stone has its symbolic meaning. And each size is fitted to a particular site.

A few years back, while he was personally working on the Filipino-Japanese Friendship Garden at the Bacolod Plaza, Yamaguchi was almost smashed by a giant stone he had taken from Bago River. My son (I was charter president of the Bacolod Capitol Lions Club) alerted him to the threat of a cable threatening to split. He managed to scamper to safety before it broke.

Yamaguchi said he intends to name it the Mikawa Mountain Hot Springs Resort in memory of the late Yukie Honda, a former Mikawa Lions Club member, who had joined the Bacolod Capitol Lions Club. Honda had then dreamed of putting up that kind of resort in Mambukal. He died before that was realized. But now, his son, a member of the Mikawa Lions Club, will be able to see the ambition of his father realized.

Incidentally, Honda had served here as member of the Japanese medical corps during the last war and fell in love with the place. That’s another reason why Yamaguchi willingly worked for the project sans compensation from the provincial government.

Yamaguchi is worried somewhat that the Filipino workers cannot seem to understand the translated instructions for them. Another, like in most instances, they tend to work in spurts without the deadline-consciousness of the Japanese. That’s why, the original deadline Yamaguchi had set for the project had to be postponed repeatedly. Of course, there is the other problem of heavy equipment not being able to get to the area. Thus, Yamaguchi and the workers had to improvise their own cable equipment made of bamboo. Of course, it’s not as efficient as a cable car.

Despite the setbacks he had encountered, Yamaguchi is still confident that sometime in June, the project may be finished. And, perhaps, the inauguration should be in September or October.

Even now, he admitted that a lot of Japanese spa resort enthusiasts are already in a tizzy when they learned that Yamaguchi is handling the project.

He admitted modestly that Mikawa club members have already discussed the possibility of chartering a jumbo jet to attend the inauguration in October.

That means a big delegation of Japanese travellers coming in. And they intend to stay for a while to savor the handiwork of Japan’s famous landscaper.

And, yes, he had a surprise for us. We did not notice that Yamaguchi had already put up steps leading from the hot spring pond to the cool Mambukal River below. As he explained to us, that will enable the bathers to get off the hot spring, then dip in the cool water of the river. After that, they can go back up to the Hot Spring pool for another dip into the soothing and calming impact of the hot water.

"Actually," he pointed out, "this was a perfect example of a place for a Japanese-type mountain springs. You are fortunate you have such a wonderful natural place," said Yamaguchi.*

^^so, do we see our first charter flight from narita coming this october. another first for BSIA.

^^cool, I hope the entry of BPO companies will make Mr. Tan to give PNB a major renovation.

^^tani ma tapos na ang pag reclaim sang Bredco kag ma dayun ang sa Talisay.

That would be great! This will build another excitement for BPO in the province if its real and could be a possible hearth crushing HH for the Snakes roaming around here. But surely,it will give PNB a new lease of life and could liven up the area.

Business: Talisay on the Way to Being Balanced City

Another mega-project would possibly be a replica of the Enchanted Kingdom such as they have in Manila. Just a few days ago, a representative of the playground discussed with him if possible for their expansion in Negros Occidental province with the building of another one in the old site of the Talisay Sigar Mill (TASIMICO), owned by the Aranetas.

Better than Enchanted Kingdom would be better but nevertheless Enchanted Kingdom alike is good enough to lure more tourist into the province especially from the neighboring islands of Negros particularly from the suba.

Kiwi farmers eyeing partnership with Neg. Occ. in dairy program

Four dairy farmers in New Zealand expressed interest in partnering with and investing in the province of Negros Occidental in dairy production, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena said yesterday.

The dairy farmers from Auckland and Hamilton, New Zealand visited the breeding centers and the Negros First Ranch in Sta. Rosa, Murcia and were impressed by the way the province started project for livestock raisers, Decena said.

“They want to provide their dairy farming technology and transfer it to Negros and they are very interested in the dairy project of Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr.,” Decena said.

He said the investors were from Challenge Livestock, Dutchy Farm Ltd, and the two dairy farmers from Hamilton.

He also said they are drafting an agreement with the four investors but also need to see the technology they will get from them as New Zealand uses more advanced technology in dairy production compared to other countries.

He also said they plan to bring five farmers to New Zealand to be trained hands-on in dairy production.

The investors learned about the dairy project of the province through Petrus Nicolaas Smit, director and owner of Dutchy Farm Ltd, whose wife is a Negrense, Decena also said.

Smit was one of the guest lecturers during the Negros First Livestock and Food for Peace Festival in December 2011.

He added that these investors supply dairy animals to China, Malaysia, and Fiji.

USDA eyeing collaboration in Neg. Occ.
BY CARLA GOMEZ

US agricultural counselor Philip Shull and Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday discussed agricultural collaboration efforts and the province’s purchase of frozen cattle semen from the United States to improve the quality of locally produced beef.

“The governor clearly knows so much about agriculture and has a wonderful agriculture plan for Negros Occidental,” Shull said.

^^M for maranon..hehe. this is what we get when we have a non-lawyer for governor. :okay::okay:

USDA eyeing collaboration in Neg. Occ.
BY CARLA GOMEZ

US agricultural counselor Philip Shull and Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday discussed agricultural collaboration efforts and the province’s purchase of frozen cattle semen from the United States to improve the quality of locally produced beef.

“The governor clearly knows so much about agriculture and has a wonderful agriculture plan for Negros Occidental,” Shull said.

Shull said among the things they discussed was the purchase of frozen cattle semen from the United States by the province.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena, who was recently sent by the governor to the United States, said he went to Houston Texas, to look into the possible purchase of Brahman cattle semen for the provincial cattle genetic program.

The Department of Agriculture has promised to give the province a semen processing plant and liquid nitrogen plant for the breeding of livestock that will be built at the Negros First ranch in Murcia, Decena said.

Decena said Shull also the discussed with the governor rice technology assistance and US soybean sale to the province for feeds.

Shull yesterday also reiterated that the US last month increased the Philippines share of the US sugar quota for this crop year by 75,540 metric tons raw value.

This translates into an additional 73,373.653 MT commercial (shippable) value for the Philippines, Sugar Regulatory Administrator Ma. Regina Bautista Martin said earlier.

This is on top of the 138,000 MT US quota share allocated to the Philippines for this crop year, which has already been shipped out, she added.

Manuel Lamata, president of the United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines, who accompanied Shull during his meeting with the governor at the Capitol yesterday, said they are thanking the US agricultural counselor for the additional sugar quota granted to the Philippines.

Shrimp industry recovers
BY LISA GAPAC

The Department of Agriculture sees that the Philippines will be at par with its neighboring Asian countries in terms of shrimp export and production in two to three years time, DA Assistant Secretary for Fisheries, Salvador Salacup, said yesterday.

He recalled that, 10 years ago, shrimp products were among the export winners of the country before the outbreak of shrimp diseases, but it has started to recover and is the 6th export product of the Philippines that trades with Korea and Japan. He added that these two international markets are interested in purchasing Philippine grown quality shrimps.

The DA has also partnered with feed manufacturers in the country to have an efficient feeding system for the shrimp farmers, he said.

LOCAL MARKET

The shrimp industry in the Philippines is trying to develop its local market after a notable increase of 5 percent in shrimp production in the last two years with Western Visayas as the biggest contributor, Roberto Gatuslao, president of the Philippine Shrimp Industry, Inc., also said yesterday.

An environmental awareness, interaction and clean-up drive called the “3rd Taklas Dagnas sa Patag”, at the Northern Negros Forest Reserve, will start today until May 13 at Barangay Patag in Silay City, Negros Occidental, a press release from the city said.

The 90 participants will convene at the Silay Outdoor and Eco-tourism Area in Patag, and trek through the jungles to Tinagong Dagat and Sulfatara, picking up trash and debris left by other hikers while clearing the trail for future trekkers.

The forest reserve, also known as the Northern Negros Natural Park, is home to the largest forested area in Negros Island and to many rare, endemic and endangered flora and fauna. It straddles the boundaries of six cities and seven towns in Negros Occidental, the press release added.*

Well, it just shows that amidst language differences, you are one Negros Occidental which is by the way, the most important thing of all!:cheers::cheers:

This is actually a competitive advantage if I may say so, having two languages in one province. I for one grew up with Cebuano-speaking neighbors who migrated to Bacolod from Bayawan. So kasabot ko Cebuano, but I could not speak it well. It helps a lot especially when you go around the Philippines, Tagalog, Hiligaynon and Cebuano are three of the most dominant languages so you can virtually go everywhere and still be able to communicate.

Great news regarding BMW Bacolod however just to fact check I don't think it's the 2nd dealership in VisMin. According to this article, besides Cebu there's also a BMW dealership in CDO.

http://www.businessweekmindanao.com/2011/10/02/bmw-opens-first-showroom-in-m%E2%80%99danao/

What's weird tho is that CDO is not (yet?) showing among the listed dealerships in the country (which incidentally does not yet list the Bacolod entity either) according to the BMW Philippines website.

http://www.bmw.com.ph/asia_dl/ph_en/index.html

But of course proof is in the pudding as the showroom is already being constructed. I am sure once the business is up & running it'll be among the official listed dealerships of BMW Philippines.

Oo nga. nagtataka rin ako kung bakit nasali sa Negros Occidental ang mga predominantly Cebuano speaking towns/cities like Escalante, San Carlos, Calatrava, Toboso, etc. p

Well, it just shows that amidst language differences, you are one Negros Occidental which is by the way, the most important thing of all!:cheers::cheers:

. I for one grew up with Cebuano-speaking neighbors who migrated toThis is actually a competitive advantage if I may say so, having two languages in one province Bacolod from Bayawan. So kasabot ko Cebuano, but I could not speak it well. It helps a lot especially when you go around the Philippines, Tagalog, Hiligaynon and Cebuano are three of the most dominant languages so you can virtually go everywhere and still be able to communicate.

^^ Bitaw oy... Sugot dayon ah.:)

Kung ang San Carlos kag Escalante migs nga Cebuano-speaking nga kabalo mag Hiligaynon, sa ina nga mga lugar, Hiligaynon-speaking naman nga kabalo mag Cebuano since Cebuano ya ang lingua franca sa Dumaguete City for trade and commerce. :)

i know how you feel sa experience mo mig.i also speak 2 filipino dialects excluding Tagalog and a bit of 2 foreign langauges excluding english.kis-a ga sala sala nko  na notice ko bla mig going north sa Sagay and Cadiz hiligaynon pero may tono na tpos asta na Escalante cebuano na ila dialect.though taga south ako but i havent been to most parts of southern Negros.Campomanes na siguro pinaka tayog nakadtuan ko :)

^^30% of Negros Occ are Cebuano speaking mig. so we are the only province that speaks the 2 dialects.

I believe South Cotabato (Hiligaynon is the main dialect of Koronadal City , in Gensan it's Cebuano) , Sultan Kudarat, and Bukidnon are also provinces that speak both dialects...
