View Full Version : Bacolód City and Negros Occidental Province
markee May 28th, 2012, 04:43 PM miga, SM City Cebu was under construction when I went to Cebu in 1989. Kita ko gid na ang day and night nga work sa reclamation area sang Cebu and I was so amazed how big it was. Dira kami abi ga stay sa cousin ni Mama sa Subangdaku in Mandaue so kitaon gid ang masanag nga construction.
I am not sure basta it was in 1991 or 1992 when SM Prime showed interest in constructing SM City in Bacolod, ang choices nga gin offer was the Reclamation Area or the present site of Triangle Island Plaza. I think in 1992 daw na kuha gid sang BREDCO ang SM but I think there was instability with the politics (Montelibano, Palanca, Guanzon) and the strong opposition of the local businessmen (Lopue, et al) so SM Prime stalled. Instead they opened up SM Supermarket at Cineplex, Convention Plaza and BS Aquino Drive (present Grace Pharmacy)....at that same time naga gear-up na ang SM Prime sa Iloilo for a mall planned in Mandurriao as Gaisano was starting its clearing for construction of its mall in La Paz. Then Robinson's entered the scene in 1995 and opened in 1996 (Grand opening 1997). When hard times hit in 1998, SM closed its Supermarkets in Bacolod (and became La Botica under the Luzuriagas) and focused on the construction of its mall in Mandurriao, the planned malls in Davao and CDO and the forseen "Mall Of Asia".....mga 2002 or 2003 during "tiyay Joy's" admin when SM planned on the Bacolod mall na. Then in 2006 nadayun gid man :lol::lol::lol:
triangle island plaza was one of the choices man sg Rob sir gling gusto nila sakupon pati mga residential areas sa tabok pa gd sg triangle but wala gn baligya sg iban ila lots so didto sila sa Mandalagan...as verbalized by a friend whos property was supposedly gusto baklon sg Rob :):)
Alric May 28th, 2012, 04:44 PM mig dont forget Libra and Consuelos hahahaha
small scale businesses but they all contribute to Bacolod's fast emerging economy :banana::banana:
Yep, the Epic Consuelo and Libra -- ang bilihan nang mga Tyange2x sa Bacolod -- hehe
maximizer May 28th, 2012, 04:49 PM Regarding Amaia Steps (Midrise Condominiums) and Amaia Skies (Highrise Condominiums), all of those will be replicated here in Bacolod ... In Due Time...

boy muscovado May 28th, 2012, 04:54 PM Thanks for your post. Tingala ko man nga nagsarado man ang La Botica sa Roxas way back late 90's..:okay:
I think there was a spat between Sy and Luzuriaga which later became bitter enough for them to split-up and go the ways of their own.:ohno:
SM went into cost cutting at that time and focused on their projects and existing malls that were "on the move" and were gaining big despite the Asian Crisis
Amo man na ang istorya sang akon cousin who formerly worked in the accounting department of SM in Iloilo
markee May 28th, 2012, 04:55 PM ^^ You know what guys, I prefer discussions like these... wherein we can share our ideas at the same time provide an avenue to gather ideas as well as information... there are some point in our lives that we really believed in things we think was correct but later on found out to be a null.
^^ These kind of discussion reminds me of the Old School SSC ... no sugar-coating at all... i hope we can go back that kind of SSC most of us loved... PLUS MORE MORE PHOTOS of course! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I can vouch for that tale. When I was still studying, my prof used to tell us students how much USLS saved when the Coli was being constructed because VMC was not able to meet the deadline. VMC had to pay USLS a certain amount of money per day until the construction was finally finished. In the end, the project was accomplished and the opening of the Coli was star-studded (Ex-Pres Aquino graced the occasion). Amo lang na galing, the delay contributed to VMC's decline.
*Coli stands for Coliseum gali ha, indi lain nga meaning.

maximizer May 29th, 2012, 05:55 AM I can vouch for that tale.

Amaia Scapes North Point
All smiles na with Amaia's newest project, Amaia Scapes North Point. Every Amaia home has well-crafted, unique and stylish designs. Right in front the house, the community thrives with its relaxing environment courtesy of the Patio Green. Above all, it has easy and flexible financing scheme that can truly empower the Negrenses to say "Kaya ko na!"
Price Range: P605,000.00 - P1.25M
Land Area: 19.1 ha
Units: 1550 House and Lot Units
Location: Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental
Seems rational if we calculate it, 19.1 hectares = 191,000 SQM. If let's say, the 91, 000 SQM will be dedicated for amenities and roads, pavements etc...
The remaining 100,000 SQM can still be divided to at least 1000 lots at 100 SQM though lot sizes in Amaia Scapes vary and do not really reach 100 SQM, usually at 75 SQM so, possible gd ang 1550 units for 19.1 hectares.

bacolodchamp May 29th, 2012, 07:36 AM Guv happy with ethanol breakthrough
BY CARLA GOMEZ
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he is very happy with the breakthrough in the production of fuel ethanol in Negros Occidental from sweet sorghum and added that will be a boost to small farmers, especially agrarian reform beneficiaries.
The breakthrough has been described as a “first” in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
Department of Energy Renewable Energy Management Bureau Director Mario Marasigan yesterday congratulated those responsible for the production of fuel ethanol from sweet sorghum in Negros.
"This could be the breakthrough that we have been waiting for to enhance our biofuels initiatives," he said.
He said the breakthrough came at a most opportune time for the National Biofuels Program.

Heritage Museum in Negros inaugurated
The Museo Recoleto de Negros was blessed and inaugurated at the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos in Bacolod recently, a press release from the school said.
The museum houses the cultural, artistic and missionary heritage of the Recoletos, that started their missionary evangelization in Negros in 1622, and established communities in 1848, through the construction of churches, convents and parochial schools in various towns of Negros.
These include the artifacts of old churches, and church documents like the books of baptism and accounts, and the book of the dead dating back the 1700s to early 1900s. There are also pages in the books proving that Bacolod was then called “Pueblo de Magsungay”, the press release also said.
“You can trace your ancestry and family lineage in the pages of the Book of Baptism”, Modesto Sa-onoy, a Negros historian, said.
More than a heritage museum, there are two 20-year-old mahogany trees at the facility. Br. Jaazeal Jakosalem, who is in-charge of the museum, said the existence of the trees provides an environmental message and concern; gives importance to the possibility of integrating architecture and environmental protection; and enhances the interior of the museum that is open to the public, the press release added.*

Sugar project in N. Occidental bags incentives
THE BOARD of Investments (BoI) has granted tax perks for a P21.5-million sugar production project, a statement on Tuesday showed.
The proposed plant of Forever Nutriliving Corporation (FNC) will produce soft sugar and sugar-derived antioxidants. The plant will be located inside a sugar mill complex in Sagay, Negros Occidental owned by Sagay Central, Inc.
FNC will source its raw materials from Sagay Central and export 70% of its production. The company is expected to produce 32,400 kilos of antioxidants and 7,020 tons of soft sugar a year.

Wow! another museum for Negros.

Blocks bounded by Rosario Street, Gatuslao Street, Mabini Street, Locsin Street, Lacson Street
Burgos Street from the market to corner Lacson
Rosario-Yulo Streets (Yulo's Park)
buildings surrounding the Central Market and those bounded by Rizal St., Locsin St., Luzuriaga St. and Gatuslao St.
Galo Street in its entire stretch from San Juan (BACIWA) to Lopez Jaena - but most of them are in a sad state already

The City should start on encouraging Owners of these houses to make a good use of our Heritage to promote tourism.
Heritage Metro Bacolod?
After all the four Cities (Bacolod, Bago, Silay and Talisay), Shared the single catalyst for building Cities and Lifestyle. Just because of a grass called Sugarcane.
Damo ancestral houses sa Bacolod, Bago, Silay and Tsalisay nga naging victims sang irresponsible development. Anyway, I am currently here at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan, home to ancestral houses saved from destruction like this one saved from Mexico, Pampanga:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/385764_3600221037471_1031890580_3156078_590759875_n.jpg
Why not ayhan sa mga ancestral houses na wala na plano ang owners mag maintain, baklon na lang sang isa ka entrepreneur kag ibutang somewhere as a resort with Metro Bacolod. At least that way, ara giyapon sa Metro Bacolod ang mga heritage houses than maguba or i-ship sa Bataan. This resort is only currently being marketed pero good sell guid, especially for honeymooners and heritage-interested foreigners. :D

Rough road? that would cost sa businessmen ta parts. Naton siguradohon nila nga hindi naton palpak ang ila contractor. a truck can carry as much as 12-13 tonnes of cane ( VMC trucks). Imagine kung mag park da sila.
I suggest ya, Truck Yard. Hindi pag i-allow sang city nga matambay ang trucks sa kilid dalan. Truck yard. parking lot nila. only for Cane Trucks or other heavy equipment. Parkingan nila, 100 per day. income pa sang tagiya sang duta.

boy muscovado May 30th, 2012, 09:18 AM agree.tani mahino sila another road for these trucks.ang rough road lg para d ta ayawan kay-o kay dasig maguba sa weight sg truck
Rough road? that would cost sa businessmen ta parts. Naton siguradohon nila nga hindi naton palpak ang ila contractor. a truck can carry as much as 12-13 tonnes of cane ( VMC trucks). Imagine kung mag park da sila.
I suggest ya, Truck Yard. Hindi pag i-allow sang city nga matambay ang trucks sa kilid dalan. Truck yard. parking lot nila. only for Cane Trucks or other heavy equipment. Parkingan nila, 100 per day. income pa sang tagiya sang duta.
Ang nabal-an ko there is a central road currently used by sugarcane trucks from Murcia to La Carlota City. Kun mag pa VMC sila dira sila ga agi sa Murcia then out didto sa Mansilingan and Alijis then liko sila sa Carlos Hilado Highway all the way to Bangga Pepsi in Bata
In the past maps of Bacolod, there was a proposed "outer circumferential road" that will come from the Carlos Hilado Highway at CEGASCO then will go straight to Handumanan then didto somewhere Hacienda Guanzon derecho na part sang Granada, lusot na didto sa Concepcion, Talisay

skurjhoey May 30th, 2012, 12:31 PM hmmmm...may I list down our established museums
BACOLOD CITY
Negros Museum, Gatuslao St.
Dizon-Ramos Museum, Burgos St.
Museo Negrense de La Salle, USLS
Museo Recoleto de Negros, UNO-R
SILAY CITY
Balay Negrense
Hofilena Heritage House
Bernardino Jalandoni Museum
SAGAY CITY
Museo Sang Bata - the only interactive and maritime museum in the Vis-Min Region
I know may ara mga cultural and heritage houses all over Negros Occidental like the Circulo de San Sebastian, Balay ni Tana Dicang, Hacienda Claparols and La Casa de la Cuchara (House of Spoons), that act as a repository of our local heritage, and manami if we could tap tourists and curious individuals to fuel this potential
We may not be the seat of culture and heritage of our region but we could attest our love and support towards our cultural identity and uniqueness
Di bala may ara branch ang National Museum sa Escalante City?

Bacolod is a city complete with the conveniences of a modern lifestyle yet set in a laid back atmosphere. It has many quality educational and medical institutions, hospitals, malls, entertainment and recreational centers, restaurants, hotels and convention facilities but still it has managed to be one of the cleanest and most peaceful cities in the country. These are the reasons why Bacolod was rated by Moneysense magazine as the Best Place to Live in the Philippines.
Bacolod also has a relatively low cost of living and ample employment opportunities. Many visitors to Bacolod have already made the city their home because of its alluring charm.
I so agree!

mayo mn na nga idea.that inner higherway from Cadiz to Kabankalan would be longer, i assume if this happens our main coastal highway would be spared from heavy sugarcane trucks.the ring road on the other hand would be shorter but coastal roads from the south up to Pulupandan will be used by these trucks since thr "ring road" starts from Pulupandan to Granada thrn Talisay.bisan diin lg ah basta my alternate route for the trucks :)
