Two districts
TIGHT ROPE
WITH MODESTO P. SA-ONOY
Reports have it that the proposal to divide Bácolod into two congressional districts is already in the hands of Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and some quarters think that the proposed measure would pass when Congress resumes session next month.
Inside information confirms this report but whether the Senate will pass it with four other proposals of the same nature is another matter, because there are senators who oppose the plan, at least in the case of Bácolod. The other proposal could pass but that of Bácolod can be in doubt. An influential senator is reported to be against it.
Although I was told of the reason for this alleged opposition this information has not been validated. The source is a credible one, however.

JuanBisaya June 29th, 2012, 05:00 AM sin-o naman ni ang senador nga ini?

JuanBisaya June 29th, 2012, 05:09 AM I think we should not assume and comment on this until proven who that Senator is. If He's Influential, so are We. We are Negrenses. :D
let the voices of the people be heard.we have all the rights kay nag boto kita ya sa ila sa national elections.remember some of us here indi lg sa Negros ang influence.bsi indi pa sya magpadalan thiis 201.wait and see until next elections kay madumduman nila kita sina.trust me :)

batusay June 29th, 2012, 07:49 AM DA commits support to Negros Occidental farmers
ILOILO CITY, June 29 (PNA) – The Department of Agriculture (DA) is working to provide support services needed by Negros Occidental farmers under the auspices of Task Force Mapalad (TFM).
DA regional executive director Larry Nacionales confirmed that an action plan has been agreed to enable the farmers, mostly sugar farmers, to have access to the department’s support services until the end of the year to start this July.
Nacionales said that among the proposed services are seed banking facilities for rice farmers and farm implements such as hand tractors and rice threshers.
“We will give them registered seeds so they can produce seeds in the future. This will also have a training component,” he said.
The farmers are also asking for carabaos that they can use in tilling their farmlands. Nacionales said that funds will be sourced out from the Livestock Development Council to purchase small ruminants.
Meanwhile, crop diversification will be introduced to farmers in the sugar commodity. They will be provided with white corn, vegetables, livestock and poultry.
The TFM, meanwhile, is expected to come up with a counterpart such as in the mobilization of their farmer-members and provide them capability building training.
TFM farmers here to recall met with officials in Manila to include Agriculture Secretary Proseso Alcala to air their concerns.
Nacionales, however, said that it is now up to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to look into the issue of land distribution. (PNA)

bacolodchamp June 29th, 2012, 09:35 AM USLS, UniGames Signing MOA on July 6
Submitted by webmaster on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 07:31 Bacolod City Sports News
University Games, (UniGames) and University of St. La Salle (USLS), the home of University Games will ink a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 6 in the holding of this year’s UniGames slated on October 22 to 28, 2012.
Banzuela has sought admission of USLS administration to host last year’s event but the University begged off as some improvements have been taking place including the oval which was replaced by rubberized oval in time for this year’s competition. Instead, the event was hosted by Roxas City, Capiz.
The Technical Committee is also studying the inclusion of Mountain Run from Bacolod City to Mambukal Resort as part of Sandugo-UniGames sports tourism project supported by the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
More than 50 colleges and universities in the country are expected to participate as invitations have been readied by the Technical Committee.

Buklod-Buglas June 29th, 2012, 10:02 AM SkyScraper City Bacolod
This may well be the face of journalism in the future – interactive, pro-active, participative. And Bacoleños are some of its most ardent practitioners. Here, netizens from Bacolod wave the banner of their city’s development in cyberspace, heralding the symbols of growth here as they mushroom one by one.Bacolod’s is one of the most active threads therein and those interested can access it under cities, places, travel and geography of the Visayas in the Philippines Forum platform. Its readership base? It is difficult to pin down the specifics, but some 22 to 25,000 hits are recorded each week, a significant fraction of which come from Negrense expats all over the world. “This is the venue where I can do whatever I want for the love of Bacolod and Negros,” said Anton Manson, a registered nurse and considered the de facto leader of the SSC Bacolod group. “Because of SSC, people all over the Philippines and all over the world get to know Bacolod City even more, that we are not just all about sugarcane,” he added.
Another active member, Dr. Dominic Alojado, said, “This is where you know what’s new, what’s in, what’s out…in Bacolod.”
The site is unabashedly pro-Bacolod; there is hardly any pretension there about journalistic distance and balance expected from the traditional media. As Alojado puts it, “This site promotes Bacolod, it shows the good side of Bacolod.”
Efren Pomperada Jr., another active member who works abroad, said, “Since our main goal is to promote Bacolod and the province as well, we always make sure that we preserve the good vibes of the thread by posting positive news, construction updates around the city, or any related tourism activities.”
“It's our own way of selling Bacolod to the cyber community,” he added.

http://www.sunstar.com.ph/bacolod/lifestyle/2012/06/30/water-garden-and-forest-park-taculing-229488
The Park is the official game site of the Negros Airsoft League.
While the place has its recreational value, the educational experience for the kids deserves merit as they study the different animals in the mini-zoo.
In the outer premises of the Water Garden, I noticed that there are villas for those who prefer to stay overnight. The villas are complete with amenities plus more like board room facilities, Wireless Internet Access, audiovisual equipment, and other features for a businessman or career person who must have a dose of work even while on a holiday.
The Water Garden and Forest Park is part of a retirement village which is total concept for the area.
Indeed, the ambience of Forest Park is quite relaxing. I never realized that, in this highly urbanized city we call home, which is slowly turning into a concrete jungle with all the buildings that are daily mushrooming, there is such a place called Forest Park where one can avail of rich forestation and so within the city limits.

BACOLOD City lone district Representative Anthony Golez Jr. said on Wednesday the repair of the Pahanocoy-Sum-ag-Bago City road might be implemented in July.
“Funds were already allocated for the project and the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) has already received a notice to proceed,” said Golez about the project, which involves about P300 million, and covers the widening and improvement of the roads and possibly the bridges in those areas.

right, because i remember somebody once said nga lagpas Mirasol whrf is deep water na.ok na ina ah.lapit na gyapon sa Banago Port
Nope...wala deep water area on the shores bordering Malogo River in EB Magalona down to the northern bank of Bago River in Bago City so that means Bago, Bacolod, Talisay, Silay and EB Magalona don't have natural deep water for large ships to berth. Rivers like Mandalagan and Lupit dump lots of silt in our shores thus the shallow shoreline. The Banago, Mirasol and Silay Wharves are testaments to that reality wherein they need to stretch far out from the shore in order for large ships to dock. Thats why before Pulupandan Port was established, we need to bring our sugar to a bulk depot in Jordan, Guimaras or to the large bodegas of different sugar companies (A.Chan, Lopez Sugar, San Carlos/Ledesma, etc.) in Muelle Loney Wharf.
^^no...that is not acceptable. are there other things more important than pursuing the development of city for the greater good? all he needs to do is endorse it. it doesn't cost him anything.
I have to agree with that....if politicking is the gauge of evil...Cong Golez is quite "of-the-lesser-evil" as of the present time. At least daw indi sya obvious magbutang sang iya guya kag ngalan sa tanan nga projects and he acknowledges that the beautification of Lacson Street is part and parcel of Sen.Koko Pimentel's project and DPWH, as shown by that gigantic tarp at the PNB not so long ago. Indi man obvious ang iya pag continue sang CLMMRH West Wing (which is still being claimed by somebody else nga "AKON, AKON kag AKON")
Tani i-pursue na lang na ang redistricting sang Bacolod para Golez and Leonardia will have less to squabble about and more funds to pump into city projects. If matabu this would be a nice competition since mapa indis-indis ang 2 ka distrito sa padamu-damu kag panami-nami project.:ohno:
I hope Leonardia realizes that he has already reached the pinnacle of his term as mayor as the longest serving, the most awarded and the mayor on bacolod's boom-time. Wala na realize ni Bing nga tungod sa ila nga pag pa-iway sang political and personal differences in 2010, both Golez and Bing won the elections. Actually the city council of Bacolod (Sanggunian) has already endorsed the Capitol Civic Center last year as a major investment in the city. And wala man da nag pamalabag si mayor.
In fairness to Bing Leonardia he managed the city well since 1995, but the wave and stiff competition in politics during his return to office in 2004 was the avenue to give power also to his "sobalternos" and big-time supporters.
so in gratitude gid tanan....greediness begets greediness....pacquiao is just a superficial issue and doesn't give any bearing. Ang mabudlay kay tanan nahanungod sa "utang na loob". Imbes magpahuway na sya with a grand exit as the chief executive of Bacolod...nag eye pa sya for congress....hunger for power naman siguro.....
manami gid nga mayor si Leonardia, whether you guys like it or not. The problem was the last two terms na lang when he was swallowed and eaten up by the system in politics.

Tani indi sila mag sagad dinalok since both of them will benefit from their cooperation. :ohno:
thanks sa info doc.so most probably makabos gd ang BREDCO sa Banago Port.pero ok na ina nga developments ah.we need to strengthen our ports for trade and commerce :banana:
