di pwede matawag nga "waterless" ang Bacolod since our water source is within our city limits mismo. BACIWA's major source of water is in the springs of Bocal-Bocal and Buro-Buro in Alangilan. So matawag mo gid aton water as "spring water". We aren't using our rivers yet for water supply.

Kita mo, during the drought of 1982-1983 and 1998-1999 indi gaano ka affected ang Bacolod City even though nag nubo man gid ang mga water pressure sa iban nga areas.

P2.2B proposed for road network

MANILA - Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) yesterday said he is proposing an about P2.2 billion road network in the third district to boost the tourist destination areas of Silay, Talisay and Victorias, Negros Occidental.

Benitez recently met with city and town development and planning officers and representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways to synchronize their plans and identify areas conducive to tourism and agriculture.

He identified the three tourism areas, as the Gawahon eco-park in Victorias City, Patag in Silay City and Campuestuhan in Talisay City.

Benitez said the national government has already approved P300 million for the Silay-Lantawan-Patag ring road, the construction of which is expected to start in January next year.

He also revealed plans to continue the access road, that will link the Silay airport road to Victorias, as soon the airport access road from Bacolod to Silay is completed.*GPB

Tourism leads investment priorities in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY, July 26 (PNA) -- Tourism and agriculture remain the top investment priority areas in Western Visayas and common to all provinces and cities in the region.

This was bared by Estela F. Paredes, OIC assistant regional director of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) during a news briefing on the 2011 economic performance of Region 6 on Thursday, July 26.

The region posted a 5.5 percent gross regional domestic product growth rate in 2010-2011 as compared to the national gross domestic product growth rate of 3.9 percent. The region’s performance is a jump higher than its growth rate of 3.7 percent in 2009-2010.

Paredes said the five-year Western Visayas regional development plant for 2011-2016 showcased the blueprint of economic planning and investment areas for business locators and investors.

Tourism in the region contributes more than one third of tourist arrivals in the country with a target of 4.6 million arrivals by 2016 enhanced by the island of Boracay as the top beach destination in the world.

The tourism sector is strong in the provinces of Aklan, Guimaras and Negros Occidental while agricultural activities take center stage in Antique, Iloilo and Capiz.

Paredes said the provincial development and physical framework plans for five years only cover those provinces which had submitted earlier their comprehensive land use plan (CLUP).

The investment priorities are tourism, aquaculture, business process outsourcing and agribusiness in the province of Aklan; agriculture for rice, muscovado sugar, and fishery, micro-cottage weaving, tourism and mining for the province of Antique; cutflower and foliage production, eco-tourism, food, seafood and abaca processing in the province of Capiz; tourism, mango and cashew production, food and fruit processing, lime quarrying and processing in the island province of Guimaras; agricultural production for palay, livestock raising for swine, fishery, tourism, business process outsourcing, mining and agri-business for the province of Iloilo; and tourism, mining and agribusiness in the province of Negros Occidental. According to our sources from Ayala Mall, the Ayal Lifestyle Center in Talisay is expected to open in time for this year’s MassKara Festival from Bacolod.

A source said the target date is sometime on October 15,2012 and the mall is currently doubling its time to train their staff.

Initially stores that will locate would include Starbucks, Marks and Spencer, Bread Talk, Penshoppe and Bench. But the source said locals will expect more branded store to come in.

To make shopping experience even better, Ayala, is also looking at the possibility of extending the routes of Bacolod jeepneys up to the mall. But this may take sometime since it involves arrangement between the two cities, Bacolod and host city- Talisay.

U.S. Made SEWER JET Now In Bacolod

Hi Vac Ohio’s heavy-duty Sewer Jet is finally in Bacolod and brought to the Bacolod New Gov’t Center this morning, the second such in the country, as recommended for use by the city's Disaster & Risk Management Office to Mayor Evelio "Bing" Leonardia and approved for purchase by the SP headed by Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

117’s and Disaster & Risk Management Office's head ,Joe Marie Vargas, told this morning’s interview that the green-colored unit, worth 2l.8 million pesos in cash and funded from the city’s General Fund, is out for inspection and that his personnel will be trained to man the unit which will clear the city’s drainages of debris before the rains or floods worsen.

The U.S. supplier’s representative, Troy Wolf, will solely train Vargas' men the rest of the week. Troy revealed that 2 to 3 people can efficiently run the jet, which has a capacity of 5 cubic yards, in vacuuming solids and debris for some four standby trucks at any given location in the city.

Troy revealed that a population of some 500,000 in the U.S. makes use of four larger Sewer Jets, unlike the city's newly-acquired medium-size unit and that in Bacolod a secondary unit is appropriate. Metro Manila has been using one unit for the past 3 to four years, he added.

The unit, which will be used to clear storm drains and clogged lines, uses a 95- horsepower Kubota engine, a vacuum pump and giant water pump plus a Hino chassis. All other parts are U.S.-manufactured, Wolf pointed out.

Secretary to the Mayor Moises dela Cruz was assured that the unit is complemented with spare parts and that there are available men for any repair requirements at any given time. (CMO/PIO July 23, 2012)

Bacolod tchoukball team grabs 3rd place in APYTC

The Bacolod’s Pilipinas Ilahas M18 (Team Philippines) bowed to Singapore in the semifinals but prevailed over Macau in the battle for third place to finish with the bronze medal in the Asia Pacific Youth Tchoukball Championships held July 20-22 in Melaka, Malaysia.

Despite yielding to Singapore in the semifinals by three points, the the boys from Bacolod bounced in their final match against Macau to finish third. Chinese Taipei successfully defended their crown, while Singapore settled for second place.

Joining the tournament as a rookie team, Ilahas team officials said the Philippine squad manage to deliver a sterling performance during the competition and drew good feedbacks from other rivals.

The Talisay City government is looking into a public private partnership for the development of its public market, plaza and old city hall into a heritage park under a long-term development plan, its city administrator, Jovim Entila, said yesterday.

A private partner will be sought for the overhaul of the whole public market, Entila said.

The new market is envisioned to include space for jeepney and tricycle terminals, offices, a food court, a wet market and a dry goods section, he said.

The only problem with these Government agencies is eherm the proposal would pass through... "you know where".. then they would junk and introduce the idea to their universities and "own" it. Just like what happened to Chicken Inasal and Ati-Atihan. So I think MBCCI as a private sector wing would act on it considering that if thats the case, there will be a "real" PPP, Private and the implementing body would be the Three Cities, ( Bacolod, Silay, and Talisay )...

This can be a Local Initiative. Because honestly, mahal mag kalkal Tamburong once maglitik kag ma infiltrate ang sa sulod. unless may kwarta para ibakal steel pipes.

Superstations have tremendous power backed up with multi-links systems. This links content pipelines from one province to another with video coverage. The Sto. Tomas superstation is now considered to be the precursor of other superstations in the Philippines under GMA with the one in Manila as the mega-station. Other superstations are in Bicol, Dagupan, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and Negros’ very own Mt. Kanlandog.

VP for Transmission and Regional Engineering Dept. Elvis Ancheta said that the Mt. Kanlandog superstation is a 20-kilowatt transmitter project serving the entire western side of Negros Occidental. It has been operational since March 2012 and reaches Manapla to the North and Cauayan to the South.

Not only do the waves reach farther points of the province from the center but the transmitter has already been measured i.e. activated to broadcast to Guimaras Island and Iloilo province up to Sara.

One supertransmitter costs somewhere on the safe side of P100 million with the equipment alone costing P60-80M while P20M is spent to outfit the station. GMA President Jimmy Duavit and VP Ancheta themselves designed the wider coverage areas.

The only problem with these Government agencies is eherm the proposal would pass through... "you know where".. then they would junk and introduce the idea to their universities and "own" it. Just like what happened to Chicken Inasal and Ati-Atihan. So I think MBCCI as a private sector wing would act on it considering that if thats the case, there will be a "real" PPP, Private and the implementing body would be the Three Cities, ( Bacolod, Silay, and Talisay )...

This can be a Local Initiative. Because honestly, mahal mag kalkal Tamburong once maglitik kag ma infiltrate ang sa sulod. unless may kwarta para ibakal steel pipes.
