Website of 2012 MassKara Festival now online

BACOLOD City – The website for the 2012 MassKara Festival,www.themasskarafestival.com (http://www.themasskarafestival.com/), is now online, festival director Eli F. J. Tajanlangit announced.

People around the world can regularly visit the website to get official updates on the events and preparations for this year’s festival, Tajanlangit added.

This website will be updated regularly to inform Filipinos and tourists here and abroad of the exciting events leading to October, the official month of the MassKara Festival.

The website’s masthead bears this year’s logo, which was created by nine emerging Bacolod artists, assisted by three creative consultants.

The logo is a statement on Bacolod’s vibrant, dynamic and thriving art scene, and depicts our unique lifestyle, such as our food, places, and culture, he said.

Accompanying the logo is this year’s theme, “Life’s Good in Bacolod,” meant to highlight the unique lifestyle, including the arts, in Bacolod City as a tourism draw.

“Life is good in Bacolod not only because of its dynamic economy that is now changing its landscape and skyline, but also because of everyday details like a thriving art scene and unique cuisine, the confluence of the best of the urban and rural lifestyles, and of course, the warm hospitality of its people so endearingly reflected in their smiles,” Tajanlangit said.

Online readers can also revisit the pomp and pageantry of the past MassKara Festivals by viewing the stories and photos of the festival from 2007 to 2011 in the website’s gallery.

Grabe ah. Do or Die guid mga tawo d ya. Biskan amu ning gainulan kg baskog hangin, mabutang guid led sa babaw pa taytay.
Hindi parehus sa iban na lugar. (Wala ko may gina igo ha?)
Mabutang naguid LED TV sa Dalan, anay inugbutang na, nagdecide indi nalang kay basi magastuhan lg kung ma guba ka hangin or ulan. :) :) :) :)

Mahal2 na katama mag LCD billboard, not to mention dasig maguba since outdoor nga installation. Wala pa ko kakita LCD for large billboards :)

i have read here nga before may ari na di sa la salle pero gnkakas...not sure...:) and isa pa ang LED nga makita sa la salle gamay lng xa kag rectangular nga laba...just for marquees...they're not really big...i just don't know about this new LED board nga na-mean ni migo SmilingFace...

Kahilidlaw sang SM City Bacolod bah. Damu bago -- expansion meaning OverUtilized. Damu bi shoppers mo. Same with Robinson's Bacolod... Ang iban bi nga malls nga ginakagtu-an koya, "NEITHER" improved NOR expanded. meaning, "Not worth to comment" :cheers:

CISV always have their camps regularly in the city galing wla lg na publish for the protection of the participants.some delegates are sons and daughters of the elite.the son of the president of India was once a delegate.i think the campsite that time was in Patag.and civilian police of india were scattered all over the place.

FYI lg.Bacolod chapter of CISV is one of the oldest in the country after Quezon City and Baguio i think and only Bacolod chapter send leaders abroad for free :)

‘WV still up in agriculture, tourism'

he agriculture and tourism sectors continue to be the main thrust of Western V isayas because these provide the region a very competitive advantage over other regions in the country, a government press release said.

Economic and Development Authority OIC assistant regional director, Estela Paredes, cited the region's performance in these two industries from 2009 that served as basis for the formulation of the 2011-2016 Regional Development Plan of WV.

The region, Paredes also said, was first in sugar and carabao production; second in palay and municipal fishery and third in commercial fishery.

Cool. So lain na gali ang location sang LED Board? It was placed sang una sa may Gate 1 nayon (in between the Entrance and Exit points for the cars) but I guess it was removed due to technical problems. Haven't been to USLS lately.

Mahal2 na katama mag LCD billboard, not to mention dasig maguba since outdoor nga installation. Wala pa ko kakita LCD for large billboards

if it looks pixelated and (often) monochromatic, (usually) in red color, just like that electronic billboard between gate 1 and 2, then its an LED (light-emitting diode) electronic billboard...if it looks like a typical TV (flat) screen, w/ all those detailed images, then most likely, its an LCD (liquid crystal display)...or possibly plasma display..:lol:

i have spoken to an Akeanon and hambal ya problema gd nila ang aiport.kung matagaan sila tani attention basi mataas pa gd na ila stat.

good job Neg Occ. more efforts pa to increase tourist arrivals!ang nnamian ko lg kay indi lg focused sa city tours like silay, beaches and resorts ang tourism sg province.we have conventions and sport events!food and dining is another emerging tourism sg Bacolod:banana::banana::banana:

Basi ginatago pa para may surprise, hehe.

They actually slightly showed it (daw nip slip, :lol: ) in a video they created for the 60M@60 project, in what seemed to be a typical USLS campus map...However, one would have to pause the video in order to see and understand the picture w/ all those overlapping clips all over it...Upon seeing the video and pausing it on that part, I realized that it was not just a campus map but a campus redevelopment masterplan w/ all those new, taller structures (5F-7F) in the IS (integrated school) area and new landscaping, road network, etc. :cheers: I just wish we could have a clearer version of that pic. :)

Director Edgardo Esperancilla of DOST-8 who is chairman of the ICT Committee of RDC-8, said that this activity is conducted in partnership with the Information and Technology Office of DOST, National ICT Conference of the Philippines (NICT), Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (Benefit), NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority), and DOST-8.

Esperancilla disclosed that there is an emerging movement to jumpstart the growth of the information and communications technology- business process outsourcing industry in Eastern Visayas.

The ICT conference will feature technical inputs from Alejandro Melchor and Monchito Ibrahim of DOST-ICTO and lawyer Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, NICP president and convenor-founding chair of Benefit.

thats around 15 kilometers or around 20-30 minutes by car/shuttle bus.

Hmmmmm....you may commute via a shuttle van from the airport arrival that will bring you to SM City (Php 100) then proceed to SM City Bacolod South Wing main entrance where you may take a taxi(direct to Grand Regal is around 10 minutes around 50-55 pesos) or take a jeepney (if you dont have much luggage) plying Airport Subd.-Cent Market or Pta.Taytay-Cent. Market or Sum-ag-Cent Market. then get off Gaisano City. Across Gaisano City is Grand Regal Hotel.:banana:

The Philippines needs to push biofuel and biomass energy production to increase the income of the country’s sugarcane farmers, and pass the Sugarcane Act authored by Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) to ensure long term reforms, he said.

Zubiri said he met with Mark and Charlie Cojuangco at the airport, who said they plan to put up a biofuels plant in Negros occidental that will produce 3,000 liters a day.

“My dream is to see Negros as the Brazil of Asia where all the vehicles are running on E85 fuel,” he said.

Zubiri also stressed the need to promote biomass energy production under his renewable energy law, noting that Negros can produce as much as 1,000 megawatts of electricity with the use of bagasse and cane trash.

The Glory of Negros if indeed some defunct Centrals will be utilized for Ethanol Production.

what i saw in Palawan is something like these.with almost the same size installd sa ila street posts together with solar panels.i hope may amo man kita sini sa mga open areas or kung diin lg sya pwede ah :)

We have for the few farms, Danjugan Island and some private islands. But those are privately funded, I hope the Province would invest together with Negrense University's in developing this type of energy source to provide source of Cheap Power to our Rural areas.

I think we have the Best Practice in providing public facilities like concrete farm to market roads. But still some communities doesnt have electricity.

Another thing, I hope our LGU's would be very mindful to be strict when it comes to Traffic Rules and Bury those Cable Wires along the main thoroughfares...

Dapat gd mig, kay it should happen first before La Salle Main could proceed to redeveloping the whole main campus kay it involves the vacated Integrated School area...Anyways, we were told by 2014 daw the whole integrated shcool will be transferred (that's according to the D.O we have talked w/)...That means, construction and land development should begin, anytime soon...:)

The National Food Authority in Negros Occidental has collected P2,294,060.47 from its licensing fees, surcharges, and fines from 1,437 applicants from January to July, Cynthia Luz Chua, NFA senior grains operations officer, said yesterday.

The NFA also issued licenses to 53 grains businessmen who are qualified grain retailers, wholesalers, and millers generating a total revenue of P49,483.57. The agency also conducts apprehension and surveillance on all its members to avoid violation of the selling and retailing of NFA grains, Chua also said.

All grains establishments are subject to apprehension and fines for non-compliance of regulations like license display and renewal, putting the price tag and signboard, and securing the grains retailing license, aside from their business license, she said.

Meanwhile, a total of 67,057 bags of NFA rice were sold to various NFA market outlets as of July in Negros Occidental that comprises 9 percent imported and 91 percent local rice, she said.

All NFA outlets sell rice at P27 per kilogram while commercial rice is sold at P28 to P35 per kilogram for regular-milled rice and P36 to P38 for well-milled rice.

NFA also generated an additional of 2,481 bags of rice to the rice stocks of the agency coming palay procurement program of the agency, she added.*LTG

PRC eyes centers at SM malls

Working professionals no longer have to endure long lines at the cramped Professional Regulation Commission office in Manila as they may now renew their licenses at SM malls.

"Our offices are not getting larger. We want our professionals to have a more convenient means of renewing their licenses," PRC Commissioner Jennifer Manalili said.

With the system in place, Manalili said they are hoping to lessen the daily renewal request in PRC offices by 50 percent.

Manalili said 66 renewal centers are expected to be set up in SM business centers nationwide.

"We're still in the initial stages, so renewal centers will be set up in Metro Manila first then in the provinces. We hope all 66 will be set up until September," she said.

In Metro Manila, the first PRC renewal center will be set up at the SM Mall of Asia.

The setting up of renewal centers in malls nationwide is part of the commission's e-Services project.

Applicants for ID renewal may claim their ID's during mall hours seven days a week. *PNA
