View Full Version : Bacolód City and Negros Occidental Province
sigayboy April 1st, 2011, 11:39 PM Just going over this thread, grabe na guid ang developments sa Bacolod that 5years ago who would've ever thought these projects would even materialize. Even people from other places are slowly noticing the progress of the city.
In fact one close friend of mine from Manila is so fascinated with Bacolod that they are planning to send their kids to study there in college (imagine they're from manila pa). According to them bacolod is one of the place that is both clean, safe, and conducive for their kids to study. Now they're looking for a 2bedroom apartment, townhouse, or simply house to stay near USLS. I would like to offer my small place but it's still under construction. So please bacolodnons, if you happen to know a place for rent near USLS and its surrounding area and just kindly pm me the contact nos. and i will forward it to them.

'North Terminals should operate by June'
By Carla N. Canet
Saturday, April 2, 2011
BACOLOD City Councilor Dindo Ramos reiterated his stand that the Northbound Terminal at Barangay Bata, Bacolod City should operate by June.
His latest statement on the issue stemmed from the letter sent by Chrispin Chua, contractor of the terminal, seeking clarification on provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) separately entered into by the city with Chua and Ricardo Yanson of Vallacar Transit.
Vallacar Transit, operator of the Ceres Liner buses, is also constructing a separate northbound terminal for the exclusive use of its own buses.
Ramos, who chairs the City Council committees on transportation and traffic management and on laws, ordinances and good government, said the budget for the construction of the northbound terminal by Chua and Yanson, based on the MOA, should amount to no less than P7 million for each party, and that there should be simultaneous construction so that both can operate simultaneously.
Deadline for the completion of the construction is supposed to be by June.
Ramos said the city could rescind the contract if the structure is not finished on time.
He said Chua and Yanson had been given sufficient time to comply with their obligations under the MOA.
Ramos lamented that despite reports of Vallacar Transit's plan to construct a "world-class" terminal for its buses, the start of the construction has yet to be seen.

Kami tumandok nga Bacolodnon
Bantug kag dalayawun
Mainuswagon kag malipayon
Kami nga Bacolodnon
Sa kalisud kag katawhayan,
kasakit, kalipayan
Ang Bacolodnon indi malingkang
Sa diyos ang kina-adman
Koro:
Bacolod ikaw (aton) halungan
Kag dapat gid nga dampigan
Isinggit sa kalalawran
Bacolod, kong natawhan
Bugal sang Negros kag Pilipinas
Bulawanon ang maragtas
Maghikot-pandot kag pasidunggan
Bacolod ang halaran

‘Muse of Media’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III
An Accountancy student of the University of St. La Salle Bacolod bested 23 other candidates and was named the Muse of the Media during the press presentation of the Lin-ay Sang Negros 2011 bets at the lobby of Casino Filipino Hotel at the Goldenfileds Commercial Complex in Bacolod City yesterday.
Jessa Beronio Costelo, of Brgy. East Candoni town, got the vote of members of the Bacolod media, when she said that public service should be given wholeheartedly and without expecting something in return.
During the press presentation, the candidates came down the hotel stairs bringing placards with their slogans on how to promote the Negros First 11-point agenda of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.
Costelo’s slogan was “Ang putli nga pag-alagad sa tagsa ka Negrosananon atun ihalad (Let’s offer Negrenses genuine service)” that, she said, means that officials should serve the public, not only because they are being paid but because they want to help.
Costelo, who is into gymnastics, declamation and cartoon drawing, said she joined the Lin-ay search because she wants to be a role model to her fellow Negrenses and part of the prize she will get is intended to help her family.
The Lin-ay sang Negros candidates will showcase their talents at 6 p.m. tonight at the SM City event center, while their photo-shoot is scheduled on Sunday at the organic garden in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod. They will have their festival costume parade at the SM city event center at 4 p.m.
The coronation night of the Lin-ay sang Negros, one of the highlights of the weeklong Panaad sa Negros Festival, will be on April 8 at the Panaad Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan.
This year’s candidates for Lin-ay sang Negros are Mary Catherine Abayon of Bacolod City, Kristel Mae Araneta of Bago City, Angela Joy Jihns of Cadiz, Tiffany Grace Getnica of Binalbagan, Kier Ann Ochea of Calatrava, Jean Rose Elbabuena of Cauayan, Harlene Balbon of EB Magalona Cindy Aulinn Tolentino of Escalante City, Abby Tendencia of Himamaylan City and Quelch Ann Federez of Hinigaran;
Ann Marie Malayo of Hinoba-an, MAriell Puertas of Isabela, Joy Mgielen Jontilano of Kabankalan City, Glocelle Dimaandan of La Carlota City, Kristel Kay Dequillo of Murcia, Ruby Pearl Aloro of Pontevedra, Mary Grace Unabia of Pulupandan, Nicole Canlas of Sagay City, Janine Eborda of San Carlos City, Ma. Lourdes Acot, Nathalie Porsilada of Silay City, Frances Keith Torres of Talisay City and Saiphil Nipales of Victorias City.*APN

Linguine April 2nd, 2011, 06:25 AM proud champion....
Nietes confident of a win
against Mexican pugilist
Not used to facing the media and answering questions about his skills or that of his opponents, Word Boxing Organization minimumweight champion Donnie Nietes, nevertheless, quietly assured everyone of a good match and a victory when he faces Mexican Armando Vasquez on April 9 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.
In a press conference yesterday, Nietes said defending his title twice in Mexico against their local heroes Eric Ramirez and Manuel Vargas gave him valuable insights on how the Mexicans fight.
In terms of training, he said, Filipino fighters are more advanced than the Mexicans but the latter packed power punches and have great stamina inside the ring.
The April 9 bout at the USLS will be the first time for the Negrense boxing champion to fight in the 108-pound division. A win against Vasquez in their scheduled 10-round duel automatically qualifies him to bid for the WBO light flyweight championship belt.
Although he has yet to see any of Vasquez’s fights, Nietes said the Mexican has a record of 18 wins with four knockouts, and five losses.
The April 9 bout at the USLS, dubbed Pinoy Pride 5: Battle of Champions will also feature WBO Youth Asia-Pacific Junior Welterweight champion Jason Pagara of the Philippines, who will fight against African Deo Njiku, and WBO Oriental Featherweight champion Lorenzo Villanueva against Indonesian James Mokoginta.
Pagara and Njiku are scheduled to fight in the 140-pound category for 10 rounds, while Villanueva and Mokoginta will slug it out in the 126-pound category for 12 rounds.
The boxing event at the USLS will start at 3 p.m. with six other bouts in the undercard.
Special attractions include an 8-round fight between Philippines’ Roli Gasca against Thailand pug Ngaotawan Sithsaithong (118 lbs) , Bacoleño Arthur Villanueva against Cagayan de Oro’s Mark Anthony Geraldo (115 lbs), another Cagayan fighter Albert Pagara against Bohol’s pride Robert Awitin (115 lbs), Boyce Sultan of Zamboanga del Norte against Negros Oriental’s Jeno Raymonda (120 lbs), Roma Rate of Mandaue against Negros Oriental’s Crispin Salvador (110 lbs), and Reymund Tabogon of Cagayan against Bacoleño Tongkie Balalitan.
Pinoy Pride 5: Battle of Champions is co-presented by ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.
Ticket prices are pegged at P100, P150 and P300 for bleachers seats, and P1,000, P1,250, and P1,500 for ringside seats.
The public may purchase their tickets at SM City Bacolod Events Center, ABS-CBN, Skycable Office, Bascon Hotel, USLS, Bob’s Café Lacson, Bob’s Café Robinsons, Bob’s Café Gaisano City, Bob’s North Drive, and the Panaad Stadium.*NAB

jedai_blaze April 2nd, 2011, 07:22 AM Azkals game vs Sri Lanka at Rizal?
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Football Federation announced Friday that it will decide by April 15 which between the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila and the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod City will serve as venue for the Philippines’ 2014 World Cup qualifying first-round match against Sri Lanka on July 3.
But after inspecting the Rizal Memorial field, PFF officials appear inclined to hold the match there.
On Thursday, PFF president Mariano Araneta, Azkals team manager Dan Palami and coach Michael Weiss inspected the 77-year-old Rizal Memorial Stadium and made some observations that seemed to favor playing there.
“We might just play there at around 4 p.m. so the lights would not have to be installed,” Araneta said.
But Araneta hastened to add that “There’s no decision yet,” noting that they still have more than one week left before informing the Asian Football Confederation in Kuala Lumpur of their decision.
What is certain, he said, is that there won’t be any free-seating for the public in the venue, whether it is in Manila or Bacolod. He said the PFF needs to raise funds to cover for the expenses of hosting the event.
“We don’t know if we can get any subsidy from FIFA (international football federation) for the hosting so kailangan makabawi man lang tayo sa gastos,” Araneta said. “Siyempre we have to rent for the field and shoulder other expenses”.
When the Philippine Azkals beat Mongolia, 2-0, in the first leg of their AFC Challenge Cup pre-qualifier at the Panaad Stadium last Feb. 9, the PFF allocated 10,000 free game tickets for the public.
Meanwhile, Araneta said he is already coordinating with his counterpart in Qatar for the Azkals’ possible training in the Middle East country which is part of their preparation for the home and away World Cup qualifier. Sri Lanka will host the first leg of the first round on June 29 in Colombo.

bacolodchamp April 2nd, 2011, 11:39 AM Ayala Land unveiling
integrated community
The country’s leading developer, Ayala Land launches yet another integrated, master-planned and mixed-use community in Negros Occidental, a press release from the firm said.
Known for its master-planned communities the likes of the Makati Business District, Bonifacio Global City, Nuvali in Laguna and the Cebu Business Park, Ayala Land is set to unveil North Point at Talisay City tonight, a press release from the firm said.
Recognized as the choice residential address in Negros, with the communities of Ayala North Point, Verdana Homes Plantazionne and Verdana Homes Asyana already in place, North Point will soon have even more components to make it a truly mixed-use community, the press release also said.
More options for affordable living will be available with Avida Village North Point and Amaia Scapes North Point. To offer the complete live-work-play convenience, a BPO campus starting with Ayala North Point Technohub, a PEZA-registered IT Park, is also being developed. And to serve the needs of the growing community, a retail area will soon rise within the community.
This emerging 200-hectare master-planned estate will have a full-line of residential villages, plus commercial buildings, a retail center, landscaped parks and educational facilities, the press release said.
Today, Ayala Land showcases this developments with open house activities and tours for Verdana Homes Asyana, Avida Village North Point and Amaia Scapes North Point. In the evening, North Point will be formally launched in a grand fête along Gen. Aniceto Lacson Ave., it added.*

^^baw a...what an honor for bacolod/negros occ. to be in the big league. what's unique with bacolod is that it started with a horizontal residential component before everything else. so, it is already assured of a market for other businesses to thrive.
maayong hapon bacolod:)
_CONFiDENTiAL_ April 2nd, 2011, 12:04 PM Hello Bacolod, I'm new here.
Anyone here subscribed to New Bacolod Cable TV?
http://newbacolodcable.com/
480.00 a month 100 channels - and you can choose 2 package here.
How is the reception? Thanks
DUDE, NBC subscriber here.....the reception's awesome...almost all of the channels are HD...although some channels are still blank because it is still under installation...as of now, there are NO packages....As their promotion, you can watch the 680 Diamond Package for a fee of only 480...that means, there are 135 channels for the 480 package because they are still promoting their new company... so far, no problems....awesome channels! :)

_CONFiDENTiAL_ April 2nd, 2011, 04:36 PM migo just curious to ask this...is the whole Bacolod covered by this new cable company?particularly Alijis area.kay kon may ari na ti baylo naman eh sa bag o kon nami man lang.katalaka na gid sang SKY ah.
dude, if you'll visit their site, you'll see it under the tab "Subscribe NBC" -> "FAQ" -> "Areas Ready for installation". sad to say, alijis is not yet covered by the new cable. they are focusing on northern parts of bacolod such as Sta. Clara, Sta. Clara Executive, Villa Valderama, Capitolville, Las Villas de Hervias, Shopping Area, Eroreco and La Salle Area. just try to update their office located at Terra Dolce, Shopping. so far, i can rate this cable company "110%" because of the High Definition Channels.. :D
@dark spirit April 2nd, 2011, 04:41 PM ^^
Mas mayo tani kun whole Bacolod na guid ang covered sang NBC, mas mayo pa guid kun included na ang Talisay!:okay:

Servando repulses De Vera in badminton ranking tournament
(The Philippine Star) Updated March 29, 2011 12:00 AM Comments (1) View comments
MANILA, Philippines - Bacolod’s Nikki Therese Servando upstaged a Phl junior member while national team mainstay Philip Joper Escueta sustained his fiery form to lead the Round of 32 winners in the U-19 singles events of the P1-million Philippine Badminton Ranking System (PBaRS) at the Powersmash in Makati City yesterday.
Servando of Pohang Badminton Club rallied back from a one-set deficit to thwart Janelle Gloriane de Vera of the Phl juniors team, 19-21, 21-9, 21-9, and advance in the distaff side of the meet, the kickoff leg of a four-stage nationwide ranking circuit.
Escueta, seeking to add the PBaRS crown to his Prima Pasta Open and last year’s National Open titles, lived up to his top billing, whipping Christian Crisostomo of UP-Diliman, 21-9, 21-4, to spearhead the march of the favorites in the next round.
Similarly nosing out a Phl juniors bet was Joshua Monterubio, who scored a 23-21, 21-9 triumph over Theodore Christopher Co.
The rest of the national juniors squad – Carlos Antonie Cayanan, John Kenneth Monterubio, Gerald Sibayan, and Danica San Ignacio – moved forward in the eight-day tournament sponsored by MVP Sports Foundation-Goal Pilipinas!, Bingo Bonanza Corp. and Victor PCOME Industrial Sales, Inc.
Cayanan defeated John Paolo Santos of JLTC, 21-17, 21-12; Monterubio turned back Sean Kevin Chan of JC Badminton, 21-13, 21-8; Sibayan prevailed over Jesschard Piol of Whackers BA, 21-15, 21-18; and San Ignacio dominated Michal Dei Duquilla of Escoses Training Camp, 21-16, 21-9.
Also advancing were Jon Jelson Masonsong of Whackers BA, 21-10, 21-9, winner over Miguel Luis Ramos of Golden Shuttle; Lance Bautista of Allied-Victor, 21-17, 21-12, winner over John Nourbert Orellano of Golden Shuttle; and Christian Sison of Whackers, 21-14, 21-12, winner over Jose Lorenzo Yason of JLTC.
Other Round of 32 victors were Golden Shuttle Foundation bets Justin Wilbert Natividad, Karl Jeffrey Foronda, Kyle Patrick Gosiaco, and Clarence Filart; and Allied-Victor aces Kevin Michael Cudiamat and Ethan Joshua Malelang.

I believe there is an "unofficial agreement and/or understanding between Robinsons Place and Proxima Centauri...I think basi i-assimilate dira ang Automobili Dettaglia kag PITZWORKS (which is also a Yanson Property)...and basi pa man lang abuton ang SANPARQ and would open their rear property and have their road interconnected with CDIP.
Te ara...not a a fake and daw wala man di guro may nag palak-palak....
And were not contented with tarps and scale models anymore...here we are bringing you real-time pictures and so called "evidences" that these developments are really unfolding...KAGAMAY MAN LANG AH...

bacolodchamp April 3rd, 2011, 09:52 AM ^^well, looking at the mix of guests and the number of vehicles parked along the wide street, i can somehow see that those who came have the 2C's (capacity and character) to buy. that's the reason why lots are sold out even before the project begins. take for example the "hi residences" project which was 80% sold upon its launching. amo na ya....that's why real estate business in bacolod/negros thrives.

jayjay6100 April 3rd, 2011, 01:11 PM Grabe man nga pics.Daw Halo-halo special with leche flan Kag two scoops sang ice scream.
thesugarfairy April 3rd, 2011, 01:40 PM ^^di man magpa ulihi ang central district....its like saying, "hey i'm here...watch out" hehehe. make it good then so you can give RPB's citywalk and ayala's north point a rum for their money.
RPB and Proxima Centauri is undergoing talks to compliment both projects and they are doing it by connecting both developments to give Bacolod City a Greenbelt Feel... :)
^^notice ko lang, every ayala land's launching becomes a big community affair. does this hold true with all other ayala communities? daw bacolod lang ya pirmi may amo sini.
^^ According to sources in Ayala... Only in Bacolod because they said, pleasing a Bacolodnon Investor would mean sold out ventures... so there you go... :) They can never go wrong with a Negrense Investor and they should never underestimate a Negrense's love of good life that is why AYALA Negros is a Negrense in Everyway... :)
HUGE lang ah.....lain na ya ang massive...karon ma koreksyonan naman ta na sang experts dira.
Have you noticed guys:
ROBINSON'S PLACE BACOLOD CENTRAL CITYWALK
CENTRAL DISTRICT I.T. PARK
Thanks guys...the pics shows that SSC Bacolod is "almost OR/AND always" a part of Bacolod/Negros Occidental's rise to progress.
PADAYON MGA INANAK NI PAPA ISIO !
^^ Yes doc, RPB and CDIP are going to interconnect both "Central" Developments... :)
Bal-an mo migs ang mga tawo diri sa Negros nga ga attend sa mga launching sang Ayala or any high-end real estate properties are "genuine buyers" and future residents...:banana:indi lang sila mga usisero nga mahilig lang maki-kaon, maki-chika para abi daw sosyal pero hasta man lang sa pangayo brochure kag pamphlet :nuts::bash::nuts::nuts:
^^ With exception to me... hahahaha pero honestly, I am looking forward to the day where I can already afford to buy a property in Ayala Negros... :) and its a promise to myself that I need to fulfill... :)
:) @Doc Boy, received your PM!
Mahambal ko lang, we'll see ah!;)
^^ PWEDE man ako maka pangayo sang PM??? Puhleaseeeeee

Jamie Baloyo (Sugarfairy)
April 02, 2011 is a date which for someone like me is worth remembering for. As an avid enthusiast for developments in Metro Bacolod and Negros Occidental, this has been the day I have been waiting for so long. I have done many crash interviews and official interviews regarding this Colossal Project in Negros and as I can still clearly remember the Phrase from one of the Project Executives of ALI “Everything will unfold right before your very eyes.” And it is really happening now. I am excited more than ever.

Jamie Baloyo (Sugarfairy)
From my very first attendance in an Ayala Land Negros gathering, they never failed to amaze me and this time all praises to the organizers for a very successful Launch of North Point.
My night started with beautiful sights around North Point. It is 5:30PM, The beautiful North Highway with Lush Trees as the center island and a feel that makes you think you are somewhere in South Luzon Expressway going to Laguna. Everything around you looks beautiful. 5 Minutes ago, I was in a bustling District of Mandalagan in Bacolod City, and now, the feeling is different...

Linguine April 4th, 2011, 03:26 AM 1st 'fully integrated' Ayala Land community launched in Negros
Monday, April 4, 2011
RECOGNIZING Negros Occidental as a key growth area in Western Visayas, leading real estate developer Ayala Land formally launched the region’s first “fully-integrated and master-planned community” dubbed Ayala North Point (ANP) last April 2 in Talisay City.
Ayala Land head for Visayas and Mindanao (VisMin) Emilio Tumbocon said “creating integrated mixed-used communities is essential to our expansion plans. These developments incorporate commercial, residential, retail and office spaces which complement each other to provide a live-work-play convenience for the community.”
This fully integrated community, located in a 215-hectare prime land amid the bustling cities of Bacolod and Silay, features themed residential and commercial developments that “make up a robust business district and growth center” expected to “spur economic development and enhance the social landscape in Negros.”
These include the Plantazionne Verdana Homes (PVH), Ayala’s “first affordable subdivision in the VisMin region where the clustered lot design encourages community interaction among families and friends living close to each other. Plantazionne focuses on the needs of families, overseas workers, professionals, entrepreneurs and retirees for a secure and beautiful community.” As of the March 29, 2011 inventory, 586 of its 587 saleable lots were already sold.
Verdana Homes Asyana, on the other hand, is envisioned as a community “for active families and showcases the best of Asian designs through modern Asian architecture. Some 118 of its 247 total lot inventory are still up for grabs through various financing options.
Avida Village is an 18.11-hectare residential development offering house and lot packages with 945 total saleable units. Priced from P1.6 million to P2 million, it targets “young, established and successful Negrenses who want to live in an exclusive community with the ready convenience of buying a house and lot package.”
Amaia Scapes, a sub-land of Avida, “caters to the broad affordable market segment” with its house and lot (H&L) package price ranging from P650,000 to P1.2 million. There are 1,553 total H&L units available through Pag-ibig and other financing schemes.
For the office and commercial component, a BPO campus starting with ANP’s techno hub -- an IT Park that is already registered by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) -- is also being developed, Tumbocon said. Target completion for this two-level structure that has a gross leasable area of 5,000 square meters is on June 2011.
A two-storey building with 13 classrooms for nursery and office areas had also been developed in a 5-hectare lot. “Plans for expansion of this development include a sports complex and auditorium, among others.” There is also a gasoline station with a convenience store as well as other utilities provided within the community.
Tumbocon also committed “to continue to shape Negros’ landscape and to cater to the growing needs of the market in the region.” (CGC)

Linguine April 4th, 2011, 04:13 AM Hey, Brew! (Team Tikim visits Bogsbrew)
By Bersy Gazo
Saturday, April 2, 2011
WHO knew? If a teetotaler like me has no business trying out beer, then what was I doing in the newly built antiseptic brewery of Architect Bugoy Hagad?
Set on a 10-hectare piece of wooded land in Fortune Towne, the brewery is a small white structure - the new home of local beer brand Bogsbrew. He and his wife own and manage Art Energy, an architectural/interior design firm and furniture manufacturing company. So, if you know where Art Energy's factory is, you'll know where Bogsbrew brewery is located.
Started in 2007, Bogsbrew was a 25-year-old dream that refused to go away. Arch. Hagad says, "Back in college, a classmate tried his hand at brewing beer. It was an unsuccessful attempt, but it got me thinking: why don't I try it, too? That was 1982, more or less."
"I finally got hold of my first batch of brewing ingredients in 2007, and tried my hand in it. After about a year of trying, I was starting to get the hang of it, but I wasn't satisfied. On my third year, 2010, I've finally gotten good reviews."
Another reason why Mr. Hagad got into beer brewing was "geographical. Negros is a sugar-producing island, and one of the ingredients in beer is sugar. We have lots of sugar, why not try it in beer?"
"My hunch was right. I now make two beer variants, both of which use our very own muscovado sugar. I add to this organic rice, corn, and wild bee honey, and now I can proudly claim I have created an original Negros naturally-brewed beer."
A lot of trial and error had gone into perfecting the Bogsbrew recipe, considering that its creator is self-taught. His girlfriend then (his wife now nee Cathy Sicangco) was acquainted with a brewmaster in the States whom Bugoy corresponded with and "helped me get my act together."
At the brewery, Bugoy proceeds to show us around and explains the process of brewing.
"Beer making is challenging. You have to know what is happening every step of the way. I prepare my equipment and ingredients days in advance, because preparations cannot be done in one day."
For example, I like to sanitize my equipment the afternoon before brew day, because it would take up too much time needed for brewing if I did it on brew day. The brewing process takes about eight hours, by the way."
Barley, the base malt's main ingredient is germinated in water, just like bean sprouts, to release the enzymes. The whole process of beer making takes twelve days, including aging. The results are Bogsbrew which is akin to a popular beer's classic brand, and Primo which is a light-colored beer closer to the Pilsen that we know. Both have only four-percent alcohol content.
Bugoy shows me a bottle of Primo and points out to the sediment. He said I should drink that up because that's partly sugar and partly yeast, which is rich in vitamin B complex. In other words, drink up to be healthy.
By the way, products of small, independent breweries are also known as "craft beer."
Business is good, but because it's new and people are just trying it out, birth pains are likely to be experienced. The good news is, it's gaining momentum. Which establishments carry Bogsbrew? Bugoy enumerates, "A few establishments carry my beer, specifically Cafe Bob's Deli, Korean Grill and Bar, Cafe Uma etc. Bob's resto in Paseo de Magallanes, CaB Gelato in Kapitolyo-Pasig, and the organic fairs in Manila are the newest clients."
At the University Courtyard where we had an honest-to-goodness beer-and-pulutan evening, Team Tikim had the time of their lives. That was a cool Friday night under the stars when Bugoy entertained us with Bob's grilled classic Negrense offerings at student-friendly prices such as li-og (P18 for 3), wings (P38 for 3), even tokwa't baboy (P45/bowl) and the to-die-for fried isol (P55/order).
Never mind the cholesterol, the smells of roasting meat wafting through the chilly air made us all hungry. Bambi Borromeo, Glady Tumolto, and erstwhile member Raymond Bayot, and beer-drinking couple Raymund and Yves Javellana didn't complain at all.
If we have to die, this is the way to live. These we enjoyed with Primo beer. Whew! Busog gid ya.
But we discovered that we had room for more and "more" was Bob's Flat Iron Steak, called such because of the way it is cut... like a flat iron and against the grain. At P280 per order, we were served flame-broiled US Angus flank steak with buttered vegetables and a large cheese-topped baked potato.
By this time, our tongues were loosening, thanks to the second bottle, this time, of Bogsbrew. As the evening progressed (hic) the group became louder and more boisterous (hic). Of course, it paid to have Raymund J spicing up the night with all his "hirits". He just loved picking on me and I didn't mind. I felt so magnanimous that evening and felt like kissing everyone including the waiter. Must be the beer.

Ayala North Point Assured of Sufficient Water and Electricity
By Gil Alfredo B. Severino
Who are the investors in their right minds would locate in an area without sufficient water and electricity supply? Where will the Local Government Units (LGU) learned how to build and run a city?
For investors and LGU governance alike, the 200 hectare Ayala North Point fully integrated, master-planned community in Negros which was launched over the weekend is assured of an all sufficient deep well water sources augmented by the Talisay City Water District, according to its General Manager Therese Borromeo.
Sufficiency of water is a "non-negotiable" basic essential service for the survival of a community, not just a subdivision, composes of Ayala North Point, Verdana Homes, Plantazionne, Verdana Homes Asyana, and soon, the affordable homes of Avida Village North Point and Amaia Scapes North Point.
Water is not just available, Borromeo explained, but that the flood-free Ayala Land North Point Community has excellent "after use water drainage system" which releases water to its vicinity river, "cleaner than the water of these river itself."
Indeed, a microcosm of what a city should be in terms of maintaining ecological balance needed to sustain life, which is the mission of the Ayala Property Management Corporation (APMC) which is the "preservation of the environment and the development of the communities we are doing business in."
Ayala Property Management Corporation (APMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ayala Land, Inc. engaged in integrated property management services including building administration and maintenance, lease administration activities, commercial center and subdivision maintenance, and special technical services.
Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) on the other hand said that as a matter of their social responsibility, the employment component of the Ayala North Point fully integrated master-planned community like any other employment generation entity within its franchise area, is assured electricity supply priority allocation, for as long as Negros is assured of electricity generation supply within the Visayan Grid.
Part of the integrated master-planned community is the construction of the Ayala Land North Point Technohub envisioned to be a fully integrated information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services community backed by several low-rise Business Process Outsourcing facilities with a total gross leasable area (GLA) of about 40,000 square meters.
Other than the Technohub the construction of which is almost done and presently has eight prospective locators therefore projected to generate some 15,000 jobs will be supported by a retail commercial center component near the main entrance of the North Point. Borromeo, while leading the tour of the Technohub and the Ayala low cost Avida Village North Point and Amaia Scapes North Point disclosed that the former is now presidentially proclaimed under the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) as the first IT Park outside of Bacolod.
The presence of the Ayala investments in Negros Occidental marks an addition to the regional economic growth through the BPO industry, not just in the Island of Negros but for the entire region as well.*

TUBO KAG MADAMO PA
By: Rogie Bacosa
Chorus 1:
Dali na sa Negros magbisita
Agud mapamatud-an ang pagka-anyag niya
Pasalamat kag Sinulog, Sinigayan, Dinagsa
Pasaway, Bailes de Luces, Tigkalalag, Pintaflores
Sa Panaad kadto na kay pwerte ka sadya!!!
Chorus 2:
Dali na sa Negros kag mamyesta
Agud nga mabusog sa pagpalangga niya
Dali na agud aton makita
Sa Negros may tubo kag madamo pa.
Apang bisan ano pa man nga mga pagkabutang
Ang tunay nga bugal kag kalipayan sang tanan
SA Diyos, sa banwa, kag sa pamilya, mapinalanggaon
Daw tubo sa katam-is, gugmang Negrosanon
(Repeat Chorus 1)
Dali na agod aton makita
Sa Negros may tubo, sa Negros may tubo, sa Negros may tubo.......kag madamo pa!!! (Kag madamo pa!)

P200M set for north roads
but fund release delayed
BY CARLA GOMEZ
Rep. Alfredo Marañon III Saturday said he is waiting for the release of P200 million from the 2011 budget so repairs on roads in the third district of Negros Occidental can begin.
Roads in Manapla, Cadiz and Sagay will be repaired, he said, but noted, that there has been a delay in the release of funds for infrastructure projects nationwide, although Congress had passed the national budget in record time.
“The condition of the roads after Cadiz going to Sagay is really very bad and, hopefully, we can fix them this year,” he said.
A road is also being built from crossing Manapla to a port under construction in Punta Salong, he said.
The port, estimated to cost P23 million, will link Manapla to Ajuy in Iloilo.
Meanwhile, Marañon said the suspension of the expanded Value Added Tax on oil will help mitigate the rising prices of fuel, but needs to be weighed against other needs.
“Government also needs a lot of taxes to support social services, if we suspend that (VAT on fuel) one sector will also suffer,” he said.
Marañon said he is not sure if suspension of VAT on fuel needs legislative action or can just be done by the executive branch.
Marañon also said he is against the Reproductive of Health Bill, and has been consistent in his position since the 13th Congress,
“I am pro-life,” he said.*CPG
