Kung ano man ya ang mag-abot nga grasya sa Bacolod/Negros Occidental. We always celebrate it, as one.

i think it is really better to have Negros as one..

I do not see any reason why the province of Negros Occidental should rely on Iloilo, where in fact, if it is not because of Negros Occidental and the VAST Sugar Plantations of Negros, IloIlo would never be IloIlo.

Beside, it is not the Ilonggos who Harness Sugar, it was the pioneering act of the Gaston's of France..

Where does these rich Ilonggo's get their Money? -from Sugar Trade.. Where did the sugar came from? - Negros..

If it is not because of Sugar, can these hypocrites send their children to good schools? Put up business and establish a so called Capital who is sourcing its income from Negros?

What we see now, is just the product of the past.

If it is not because of the convenience of being an established port. Negros could have had enjoy the fruits of the labor, without the Rip-off Regional Capital..

Good news mga migs! I know kabalo na ni si migo underoath..but im proud to say that almost all sang newly accepted company sponsored cadets for this coming school year in John B. Lacson- Bacolod halin sa Negros, as based from their own performance, (academics/ APRO test/ computer-based exam/ written exam and interview) , evaluated by our own company's representative from norway and our general manager. Anyway, tanan nila nga expenses while they are studying at own company's dorm/building in John B.-Bacolod asta makasakay sila will be shouldered by our company. Free tanan but i think may 10-year contract sila sa company.

actually, 13 sila tanan:

3---Negros occidental science high school
3---Negros Occidental High School
1---Sagay National High School
1---Kabankalan National High School
1---Don Bosco
apat sila valedictorian..
Congrats tanan..

and the rest sa pyak na isla.
Pero im not satisfied gid diri kay some of them gin pasulod tungod apo sang tag iya sang John B. kag mga bata sang board of directors. Actually daw deal ah ang natabu. While sa Negros grabi ang screening. So be it!

Congrats sa tanan. I do hope na this batch maging ok kag indi tig a ulo labi na gid na ara gali ang apo sa tag iya. You know what i mean.:)

It's not easy to accept a painful truth. Let's empathize and put a stop to this perennial arguments. (Hope so :lol::lol::lol:)

Being the dethroned queen is a tragic fate. Being left behind as a regional capital is even much wretched and appalling. It hurts the most when one is compared to Cebu (the queen city) and Davao (the king city) so the best way to deal with it is to rival with her little sister who is transforming into a major development area of the region.

We used to lag behind and the recent growth and elaboration of the city of smiles, resilient and robust, is a hard reality for some. These baddies who are not accepting the realism are resistant to admit that the progress we enjoy should be theirs and not ours. We worked hard for it, dude. Can't you get it??? :lol:

Just imagine, if all our intensification and expansions inhabited their city, they could have been much progressive than Cebu and Davao. The sad truth is, this dream is so aloft and hazy.

They had their fair share of progress in the past. Why can't you be happy for us???

As the saying says and i quote "Acceptance of others, their looks, their behaviors, their beliefs, brings you an inner peace and tranquillity instead of anger and resentment"

Question, how do you define development? Is it reflected on the capital or should it be distributed to the involved areas?

If the Capital is boasting its urbanity, why is it within its Metro there are still 5th class Municipalities?

So far Negros Island, does not have a 5th class municipality, we make sure development is well distributed to the countryside..

That is how we can achieve sustainability.. Dululungan kita tanan uswag.. Wala sang ipaulihi..

I will leave this to linger for a while. Because for me, The success of Negros Occidental was never e proponent by its Capital, rather, the island is the product of its own ordeal..

This is 2008 btw.

We used to lag behind and the recent growth and elaboration of the city of smiles, resilient and robust, is a hard reality for some. These baddies who are not accepting the realism are resistant to admit that the progress we enjoy should be theirs and not ours. We worked hard for it, dude. Can't you get it??? :lol:

Just imagine, if all our intensification and expansions inhabited their city, they could have been much progressive than Cebu and Davao. The sad truth is, this dream is so aloft and hazy.

MANILA, Philippines—With a couple of national team standouts and stars from the UAAP bannering its campaign, National Capital Region-A looms as a favorite in the PFF Suzuki Under-23 National Cup at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod and the University of the Philippines pitch in Los Baños, Laguna, from May 6 to 10.

NCR-A has been drawn in a tricky group that includes Visayas champion Negros Occidental, Mindanao titlist Davao and Luzon qualifier Masbate that will play in Panaad.

NCR is actually fielding two teams with its “B” squad seeing action in another group playing in Los Baños against Visayas runnerup Iloilo, Laguna and Dipolog.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the crossover semifinals on May 15 and 16 in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

National players David Basa and Yannick Tuason spearhead NCR-A along with UAAP Most Valuable Player Stephen Permanes and best defender Deo Segunial of the UP.

But one of the stars of UP’s run to the title, striker Jinggoy Valmayor, will not be seeing action in the tournament for academic reasons.

Still, NCR-A, which will be coached by La Salle’s Hans Smit and FEU’s Rodolfo Alicante, has plenty of firepower with Negros Occidental-born standouts Ryan Lerio and Gerard Pacquiao also in the squad.

The bulk of the NCR-B squad will come from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

The PFF is using the tournament to search for more players who may be included in the Under-23 side seeing action in the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia late this year.

Question, how do you define development? Is it reflected on the capital or should it be distributed to the involved areas?

If the Capital is boasting its urbanity, why is it within its Metro there are still 5th class Municipalities?

So far Negros Island, does not have a 5th class municipality, we make sure development is well distributed to the countryside..

That is how we can achieve sustainability.. Dululungan kita tanan uswag.. Wala sang ipaulihi..

I will leave this to linger for a while. Because for me, The success of Negros Occidental was never e proponent by its Capital, rather, the island is the product of its own ordeal..

This is 2008 btw.

THIRD district Representative Albee Benitez asked the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to hold the Banago port development project and instead spread out the budget intended for it in his district.

Benitez said Bacolod already has an existing port, the Bredco Port.

"The question here is that, do we need another port in Bacolod, considering that we already have an existing one here? Do we use public funds to compete with the private sector?" he stressed.

“What I am proposing is that we have to spread out the port in other areas, like the third district, so that we can also spread out the development," he added.

Bacolod to host Philippine Suzuki Cup quarterfinals

MANILA -- After weeks of tough elimination games, the Philippine Football Federation Suzuki Under-23 National Cup enters the quarterfinal stage with Bacolod City's Panaad Stadium hosting one of the two group stages.

Set from May 6 to 10, the 15,000-seater Panaad will be the venue for the group of Visayas' top seed Bacolod, National Capital Region-Team 2, Mindanao second placer Dipolog, and Luzon topnotcher, Masbate.

The University of the Philippines-Los Baños pitch, meanwhile, will be the site for the other group that includes host and Luzon second placer Laguna; Mindanao overall leader Davao; NCR 1, and Visayas' number two seed, Iloilo.

Four seats are up for grabs that will bring them to the semi-finals of the first major national football tournament in years.

PFF earlier hoped to find gems among the competing teams who will beef up the country's Under-23 national team that will compete in the 26th Southeast Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia in November.

The current senior team has few players who are eligible to compete in arguably the Asean region's most prestigious football competition.

National team head coach Michael Weiss and team manager Dan Palami will be overseeing the Azkals' campaign in Indonesia.

Current national players seeing action in the tournament include NCR's Yannick Tuason and David Basa, and Dipolog's Jerry Barbaso.

There are also numerous players seeing action in college tourneys such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the United Football League. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)

^^yeah gusto ya may ara man port ang Talisay, he might have a point there kung may ara na ang Talisay may competition dyapon and cost will be lower too...the banago port technically is private and spending public funds, I think is not appropriate it should be renovated by the company themselves, ang BREDCO amo gid na ya dapat e improve into an international port but the problem is that its not owned by the city daw Palanca man dyapon. :)

THIRD district Representative Albee Benitez asked the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to hold the Banago port development project and instead spread out the budget intended for it in his district.

Benitez said Bacolod already has an existing port, the Bredco Port.

"The question here is that, do we need another port in Bacolod, considering that we already have an existing one here? Do we use public funds to compete with the private sector?" he stressed.

“What I am proposing is that we have to spread out the port in other areas, like the third district, so that we can also spread out the development," he added.

Bacolod mayor goes to Las Vegas

BACOLOD City Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson will be acting mayor while Mayor Evelio Leonardia is in Las Vegas, Nevada for the welterweight title bout of Sarangani Representative Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao with Shane Mosley on May 8.

Leonardia was personally invited by Pacquiao to either serve as flag bearer or hold his championship belt during fight night. The Bacolod mayor accepted the invitation, since Pacquiao considers him as his "lucky charm."

"I invite you to join my few trusted friends to come into the ring with me for this forthcoming fight. May I count on your support once more as I face another tough fight with Mosley of the USA,” Pacquiao said in his letter to Leonardia.

Leonardia is also scheduled to meet with the Filipino community in the US.

Romy Niere, the mayor's loyal friend, arranged some of his engagements in Los Angeles where he will speak before the Filipino community to promote Bacolod and the MassKara festival.

Leonardia was also invited by Lorrain Datu, president of the Filipino-American Civic Organization in San Francisco Bay Area (North Bay), Northern California, USA to give updates on the Bacolod City and the upcoming MassKara festival.

Cristy Sampal, president of the Philippine Nurses Association of Nevada, also invited Leonardia to speak on what Bacolod can offer in terms of tourism and healthcare needs and the possibility of conducting a medical-surgical mission, which the group is most interested in.

Pinky Kelsey, president of the Livermore Filipino-American Organization, also invited the mayor to the Bay Area. "We wish you could meet with Bacoleños, Filipinos, and even American friends from the major areas such as San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Daly City, Livermore and others," Kelsey said in a letter.

Moreover, Adrena Golder, president of the Bacolod Society of America, also invited the mayor to visit them. "You cannot discount the impact of your visits to California in 2006 and 2007 when you spoke before our business communities here. You brought us up to date with developments in our country. Even more importantly, you gave our second and third generation children, born and raised here, a rare insight into what it meant to be a Filipino in a developing country," Golder said.

Meanwhile, Leonardia stressed that he will travel abroad using his personal funds. He said that since he was city councilor, vice mayor and until he became mayor, he never used even a single centavo of public funds for his trips abroad.

Balik-Bacolod task force formed

BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia on April 29 signed an Executive Order creating Task Force Balik Bacolod Sales Blitz to promote the city’s tourism program.

Executive Order No. 17 cites that tourism is one of the sectors being aggressively promoted and pursued by the city in response to the proclamation of the National Government declaring the city as part of the Tourism Belt of the country.

Entrepreneurs of Bacolod City have invested in many infrastructures projects and facilities, in response to the call of city government officials to make the city as a haven for tourists being the gateway to the province of Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod Tourism and Cultural Development Council (BCTC), a public and private partnership assisting the city in promoting the development and growth of the local tourism industry, has recognized the big number of Bacoleñoes and Negrenses now residing abroad as a good source of tourists for the city.

To tap this source, the BCTDC formulated the Balik-Bacolod Program aimed to bring Bacoleños and Negrenses residing overseas to the city during the MassKara Festival.

The council members decided to launch the said program immediately. Hence, there is a need to immediately conduct a sales blitz for the Balik-Bacolod Program in countries where there are a big number of "kababayans" residing.

It is for these reasons that the Task Force Balik-Bacolod Sales Blitz was created. The Task force is headed by Mayor Leonardia with Atty. John Orola as Assistant Head. Members are Councilors Homer Bais, Carl Lopez, Em Ang, City Administrator Roger Balo, Bacolod Tourism Head Imogene Kanaan, and private citizens Hugo Corral, Jr., Romeo Niere, Roberto Cordova and Edmund Cabrillos.

Paglaum 98% demolished,

BACOLOD City – The ongoing demolition of the Paglaum Sports Complex has already reached 98 percent and is eyed to be finished by May 15, 2011.

Chito Magalona, chief security and head of the demolition team of the provincial government, said so far there is no resistance to the demolition and dismantling of the illegal structures at the Pagla-um Sports Complex.

Around 40 occupants along Hernaez street have voluntarily demolished their structures.

After the Hernaez side of the Paglaum Sports Complex, the demolition team will proceed to the Lacson stretch of the sports facility.

Only the pumping station of the Bacolod City Water District will be spared from the demolition along Hernaez street.

Magalona confirmed that the provincial government decided not to demolish the Baciwa pumping station because it is servicing the water needs in the downtown area as well as those at the Goldenfields area.

He stressed that by May 15, the provincial government will start fencing off of the area to pave the way for the construction of a 3-storey building envisioned by the provincial government.

Earlier, Governor Alfredo Marañon said the 3-storey building will consist of commercial spaces on the ground floor, call center on the second floor and dormitory for students from outside the city on the third floor.

The Negros Occidental Teachers Federation office and hostel which is located at the corner of Hernaez and Lacson streets will be demolished as

Marañon has already provided a lot in Brgy. 39 for the NOTF.

EB Magalona, Negros Occ. – Mayor David Lacson is pushing for the rehabilitation of the Tuburan port in this locality as it is vital for the sugar industry in the area.

Lacson made the statement May 1 in view of the move of Rep. Albee Benitez (3rd District, Neg. Occ.) asking Philippine Ports Authority to spread the funds intended for the development of Banago Port for the development of other ports in the province.

Lacson confirmed he has talked with Benitez about the Tuburan Port development, pointing out that the local government already has an existing development plan.

“So if there is a fund from the PPA for the rehabilitation of our port, well and good because it is badly needed,” Lacson said.

He also cited that Tuburan port is the nearest route access from Banate to northern Negros and “it would be a big advantage not only for EB Magalona but for the province as well in case the project will push through.”

Tuburan Port development needs P300 million, Lacson said.

The port can be used for RORO services, docking site for fishing vessels and the transport of rice and sugarcane for milling from Iloilo through Banate Port.

“It will be faster and it is nearer,” he stressed.

Victorias Milling Company has earlier mulled to help in the development of the Tuburan Port so they can transport sugarcane stalks from Iloilo to be milled in the said sugar central.

With the rehabilitation of the port, the local government will also work on the widening of an access road that would connect the route from the port to the main highway which is about 1.5 kilometers.

Most likely migs daw amo2x lang na guro for the meantime ..:) Market-wise.., most of our cities here in the province are capable of supporting this kind of investments so to speak ... Bati ko man gani sa Silay may gina plan man na SaveMore ... ambot kon tuod gid man ... entra man ko sa HH ah ... :lol:

^^that is so true, with population of more than a 100k including the surrounding localities, our cities, even some of our towns(esp. hinigaran, binalbagan) mka support gid sa mga amu sini nga investment as more people means more consumer... mabuhi gid sila so to speak.

^^ HHs after HHs subong na adlaw ba... and this time in Kabankalan naman ... :) Kabankalan is ripe for these HHs i guess..:) another balantayan naman ni .. :D :)

just wana share sg nabatian q nga huring2x sa kabankalan, ang robinsons my gna negotiate na nga lot for a possible robinson's mall in kabankalan, isa sa mga gn negotiate nila ang duta sg tita sg client q sa kabankalan...

and also ang SM knu aims for a lot accross the southern negros doctors hospital along the highway to mabinay...

for now huring2x pa lng but who knows bsi mkibot na lng kita...

basi may HH man da ngapatindog theme park di sa Negros hehehe nami tani sakay sa rollercoaster...

Sadya gani migs kon damo HH ah, ang importante wala kita ya naga palak palak dayon, sadya sadya kag yuhum yuhum lang ta ya gihapon...:)
