We are also great in our own way you know. We will catch up. I know it will happen, not as great as yours but i know it will.

German firm eyes hydro plant in Mambukal
Wednesday, June 1, 2011
A GERMAN company is eyeing to construct a three-megawatt mini-hydro power plant in Mambukal Resort, Murcia.
Hannes Mueller, director of Hydrotech Renewable, presented Tuesday to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. their plans to tap the water from Mambukal Resort for their mini-hydro power plant.
He said they are presently conducting a four to six weeks data analysis of the characteristics of the water at Mambukal Resort.
Mueller assured that they will secure all the necessary permits for such power plant and that they will present their project proposal to the Provincial Board soon for approval of the project.
He added they are very much aware of the Mambukal residents’ sensitivity about environmental concerns.
On the other hand, the governor said he welcomes all independent power producers, which are eyeing Negros for their power plants.
He said the investors are already convinced of the power potential of the province and that the Provincial Government is just waiting for serious investors, which could deliver the power projects for the province. (TED)

Capitol to turn over new jail to BJMP
Wednesday, June 1, 2011
NEGROS Occidental Provincial Jail Warden Dionisio Silva confirmed that the turnover of the Provincial Government’s new jail facility in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is set on June 15.
The transfer of about 430 inmates from the old provincial jail is set on the last week of June.
At present, the Provincial Government shoulders all the expenses for the provincial jail, including the salaries of the jail guards and food ration of the inmates.
"This would be very historic because, after about 100 years, the provincial jail will be finally transferred," Silva said.
The old provincial jail was established in 1910.
The new provincial jail has the capacity for 600 inmates. It has 24 cells, which can accommodate 20 inmates each.
Silva said the new jail is very convenient for the inmates. It has cells for minors and separate cells for male and female inmates. There will also be cells for those suffering from illnesses.
The new jail is located at the three-hectare property of the Provincial Government in Bago City.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. pointed out that the new jail is a very ideal place for the rehabilitation of the inmates. They will have space for livelihood projects like gardening.
The jail guards will have six well-lighted security towers. The jail compound also has a double wall to make sure that the inmates would have no opportunity to escape. (TED)

Bacolod eyed for Batang Pinoy games
Wednesday, June 1, 2011
PHILIPPINE Sports Commission (PSC) Commissioner Jose Luis Gomez said that Bacolod City is being eyed to host another national sporting event this October, the Batang Pinoy.
This after the city successfully co-hosted the just-concluded POC-PSC Philippine National Games from May 22-29.
However, Gomez stressed that they will still discuss this possibility, after Naga City also bid for the hosting of this youth games.
The Batang Pinoy’s comeback following a seven-year break will be jointly staged by the PSC and POC.
Meanwhile, Gomez also said PSC and the POC will soon meet with top officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) to consolidate the country’s grassroots development programs.
DepEd has been handling the Palaro while the just-concluded PNG held here was a joint effort of the PSC and the POC, along with the Olympic body’s national sports associations.
Gomez stressed that they will try to see how they can align all the games together.
He added the host of the unified games must have Olympic-standard sports facilities. Moreover, it should have enough accommodations for the expected huge turnout of athletes, coaches and officials. (JSG)

What i meant was, even if they have great investments, we can still catch up because even if we are just a Provincial Captial, we can bring something great into our own backyard.

I am referring to the WV as a whole. Not the capital title. Yes, they need catching up with other regional capital. We don't need to with the other provincial capital since are on top from the other provincial capital.
My whole point as Bacolod City to the other cities (and the other island), if they even lead the region, we can always catch up in the sense that we can also bring such big investments. I hope you got my point.
Im sorry, its my second day here and i came from such different upbringing and it takes time for me to warm up in this thread.

Marañon to inaugurate
P5M feeds and meat lab
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. is set to inaugurate a P5-million provincial government owned Feeds and Meat Laboratory at Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City this morning.
The laboratory building costs P1 million, its equipment – P3 million and its chemical reagents – P1 million, Marilyn Manuel, provincial government consultant, said yesterday.
This is the first laboratory of its kind in Negros Occidental, she said, pointing out that they only exist in Manila and Cebu.
With a laboratory in Negros Occidental needed tests for feeds and meat will have faster results and will be cheaper, she said.*CPG

Negros Occidental Sets ICT Summit
The first information and communications technology (ICT) conference in Negros Occidental is expected to yield the provincial roadmap of the province in the ICT industry this week.
Dubbed as “Negros First ICT Summit”, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. has invited national resource speakers from the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) to guide local stakeholders in the preparation of the Negros Occidental ICT Roadmap 2011-2013.
The summit will take place on June 2, 2011 at the Social Hall and Governor’s Hall of the Provincial Capitol. It is designed for participants coming from the government, academe and business sector to learn about the Philippine Digital Strategy 2011-2016 and the Philippine IT-BPO Road Map 2016.
The summit also significantly marks the observance of June as National ICT Month.
Governor Marañon recently created the Negros Occidental ICT Investments Program to support the goals of the Philippine government in increasing IT/ Business Process Outsourcing Industry (BPO) jobs in the regions, and generating more jobs in the higher value-added segment such as the Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO).
As chair of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and consultant of the provincial government, former Bacolod councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue will help facilitate the conference and planning along with officers of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT).
Under the Negros First agenda of Marañon, the summit specifically aims to conduct and inventory of all efforts of all local stakeholders and consolidate the same in synergy with the initiatives of the province and the national and international strategies, and to provide a venue for all stakeholders to share in the preparation of a Negros Occidental ICT Roadmap 2011-2013.

Linguine June 1st, 2011, 09:28 AM Negros Food Fair needs improvement: Governor
By Danny B. Dangcalan
Despite considering the 1st Negros Food Fair a success, Governor
Alfredo Maranon Jr. yesterday admitted that “it needs to improve.”
He said many people still did not know about the just concluded
activity, and local government units (LGUs) can “learn from their
shortcomings.”
“I am happy with the participation of the LGUs. For starters, it was
very good enough,” he said.
Maranon said there will be more Negros Food Fairs, and they plan to do it quarterly.
For the next quarters, they are thinking of featuring food by Asian
region, like Chinese food, he said.
The Food Fair only shows we can do a lot of activities that feature
food, he added.
Meanwhile, Maranon said they will celebrate OISCA (Organization for
Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement) Days on August 23-25 this year.
This is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of OISCA, and will
feature a football tournament between Filipinos and Japanese, Maranon, president of OISCA-Philippines, added.*DBD

thanks for posting this one to linguine..Negros is more than just a sugar indeed. Sufficient man ta sa "bugas" as mentioned by Gov. Maranon. Energy wise ok man kay we have these newly-planned projects like in Mambukal. Kung sa pawarat lang naman. I think halos tanan amu man na. I can't help myself na di magtawa the way other people think ultimo sa dalan gina gaan isyu. Ay noy, biskan diin na lugar indi na safe!:lol::lol:

But what about the rumored 24 strorey building inside CDIP is it true or rumored i hope its not a rumor i hope its true by the way sanparq tower 2 its construction is so fast i think they are working on the 9 floor now!
I would rather keep hush and mum on the CDIP and the Capitol thing or whatever is being cooked up in our construction sites. Capitol announced its on bidding so hulat....CDIP never said of a number-of-storey-building yet...hulat lang ta...KALMA UTOG EVERYONE!!!...I better wait for the press releases and announcements....budlay na ma sulay kag ma wasi kag mag nobenaryo sang di sa oras...if its an HH...better keep it...if its a press release announce it...if its an ongoing construction...FLAUNT IT!!!
I think we all understand dagyang_grandson that we are the capital of the Occidental Negros province and your city lead the economy of WV. We also know that you now have the huge investments to-date. And we are also proud that we have investments that can support our province. I am not fighting against your city. We are also great in our own way you know. We will catch up. I know it will happen, not as great as yours but i know it will.
Hmmmmm.....Let me put it this way....we have caught up and we are running neck and neck with them....A Provincial Capital at par with its Regional Capital. They may think we are behind their back but they just didn't realize we have stepped on their tail and the train of their "queenly gowns".
^^wow Kabankalan is gearing up to be the education hub of the north.
Of the South migs...
Any updates about the land behind the capitol building when is the bidding again?
the bidding has been set and negotiations are on the run....let it run and roll...maluto lang na kag ma gwa sa toaster....
Bal-an mo, budlay kung naagawan corona kag daw layo na guid mabalik. Si amiga ta Sugbo na bi ang bag-o nga reina so gapaupok na lang sa kalain sang buot sa iya manghud nga princesa na si Bacolod.

blue martini June 1st, 2011, 03:53 PM Bacolod farmers, fisherfolk
to get over 400,000 in aid
Bacolod City’s 162 beneficiaries of the Cash for Training/Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, in coordination with the city government of Bacolod, will receive P233 per day for 11 days as cash assistance for small scale farmers and fisher folks during the lean months, a press release from Councilor Em Ang’s office said.
The program is a short-term intervention for small scale farmers and fisherfolk and their families who need assistance during lean months and the effects of increasing prices of commodities and fuel.
This will be done by allowing them to participate in community activities which will enhance food production, planting methods for palay/corn/vegetables, environmental related projects, the press release said.
River dredging and embankment, digging and dredging of canals and drainage, repair of small scale irrigation, tree planting or reforestation projects are among the activities.
In exchange for the training attended and work rendered, recipients are provided with cash to meet their requirements for food and other basic necessities, the press release said.*

blue martini June 1st, 2011, 03:55 PM Training held in Bago City
for better rice production
Twenty-two agricultural extension workers from Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and Antique participated the live-in training in Sustainable Rice Production at the Integrated Correctional Agricultural Technology Center in Bago City.
Dr. Antonio Alacapa of the Agricultural Training Institute said the initiative aims to equip trainers with technical competencies in rice production and in facilitating the farmers’ field schools.
Alacapa said this is a seed-to-seed training where they start from seed selection to harvest period and with various farming techniques and practices, technologies, and farming facilities that will help them increase production at a lowest cost are being taught.
Alacapa said that natural farming technology system, like the use of concoctions, is also discussed. He added that farmers are also trained to produce their own planting seeds so they do not have to buy seeds every planting. Based on the feedbacks and common problems of farmers, he said land leveling and preparation is one of the most important practices for famers.
Meanwhile, the trainers conducted focus group discussions with farmers in five barangays of Bago City to organize the farmers’ field school, to determine the farming practices that farmers use in the five pilot barangays, Alacapa added. *LTG

Hmmmmm.....Let me put it this way....we have caught up and we are running neck and neck with them....A Provincial Capital at par with its Regional Capital. They may think we are behind their back but they just didn't realize we have stepped on their tail and the train of their "queenly gowns".
Of the South migs...

Ha hahahaha....can't count my fingers and toes Sir sa nagahambal sina, mga sikat pa gani ang iban. Even though nightlife in their city improved a lot, its a different thing here....night life here isn't simply party and drinking by everyone from all walks of life....it has built cliques, enclaves, societies that are collectively grouped by social strata, age group and "trip"... :D
So even if you meet similar people from time to time, they are about your age group, alumni, social clique and our "trip-trip"...hehehehehehe...its not the fraction of the city at one place at one time.

yeah that's right... i hope with what is happenning right now (not in the thread) but in the real economic scene, ma challenge man sila to play their role as the Regional Center... and not just to be called as center because of the presence of the REGIONAL OFFICES..... they should prove their worth beyond than that... be in sports, in pageants, in talent competitions, in conventions, and all other events... Sorry but that's I PERCEIVE what a regional center should be....

We're glad coz Cebu is always there for us.......
It has been the foremost dream of a UNITED Negros. Its so ironic kasi that a single island is split into two different regions.
So I hope that time will come na ma realize ito....and in contrary to what the "queens" would always say that Bacolod dreams to be a regional center...hehehehe...well then they're wrong. Since the conception of the ONE NEGROS, ONE ISLAND, ONE REGION, it was never an option that Bacolod would stand as the regional center. It was agreed that it should be halfway of each side of Negros. hehehehehehe......Dumaguete and Bacolod would remain as provincial capitals but only one could be their regional center...that remains to be determined on the course of our future. Imagine two first class provinces with two of the Philippine's major cities...what more could we ask for?:lol::lol::lol:

Christendom June 1st, 2011, 11:33 PM Confirmed na sa October maabot da ang Hillsong? Wow! I have friends who works in Becca Music, Inc. and Praise, Inc., the one who holds the distributing and advertising rights of Hillsong in the Philippines. Maybe I can ask them for extra confirmation myself as well.
Reminds me of something...
The only church in Bacolod that has a possible capability to build a large structure, well not as humongous as that of Hillsong but the likes GCF or CCF here in Manila, is BCCB/Ikthus Bacolod. The church property is located in Lacson street, a hub of rising high-rises.
I wonder if the church will build a mid-rise worship center there, mga 5-8 floors. Indi bagay nga one floor lang e in a setting like Lacson St. Dapat they should make it higher so that they can finally have a more decent place for CAB and church conventions plus the facilities will not be flood prone anymore as what happened years ago that damaged Ikthus equipments.
By the way, I am a member of Ikthus. Any fellow Ikthus members here? :D
Ikthus bro is a baptist and founded in bacolod na gali, right?...GCF is Greenhills Community Fellowship and CCF is Christ Commission Fellowship? sa manila daw may ara nga midrise ila structure like sang Jesus Is Lord church kag Cathedral of Praise pero indi lang daku...sa gwa countries pang coliseum/stadium type ang churches sang pentecostal/charismatic and baptist churches like iya ni David Yonggi Cho of Yoido Full Gospel church sa korea, reach 1 million members,,,under ni sya sa Assemblies of God (pentecostal) denomination same as with of hillsong church...sa US is Lakewood church 50,000+ members...ang dri sa amon church is Bethlehem Charismatic church mga 200+ members lang under Assemblies of God man...

SWAT unit now ready to serve Bacolod
by Easter Anne D. Doza
BACOLOD CITY, June 1 (PIA) -- The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is reviving its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit with its 15-day training, which ends on June 9.
The 25-man Bacolod SWAT unit is set to be officially declared graduates by Police Chief Superintendent Cipriano E. Querol, Jr., regional director of the PNP in Western Visayas in a closing ceremony at the BCPO compound.
BCPO Director PSSupt. Ricardo Dela Paz said that the revival of the Bacolod City SWAT unit is one of the responses of the city government to enhance the city police’s crisis management capability to properly counter or address critical incidents like a hostage situation.
The SWAT unit trained under the Police Regional Office 6 on ladder entry, clearing corners, close quarter battle and just recently as part of their training, participated an entry assault on a bus.
According to Dela Paz, Vallacar transit lent the BCPO two CERES buses used during the simulation exercises and the police city director was satisfied with the performance of the SWAT unit during the exercise.
The local government of Bacolod spends for the training of the SWAT members and had earlier allocated P1.5 million for the revival of a SWAT team, P500,000 of which will be spent on training while P1 million will be spent on equipment.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
SUV111 June 2nd, 2011, 01:59 AM It has been the foremost dream of a UNITED Negros.
Imagine two first class provinces with two of the Philippine's major cities...what more could we ask for?:lol::lol::lol:
ha?!!! we dont aspire to be a regional center...what a pity!!! our regional center isnt doing well and needs to catch with the rest of the regional centers, the only prestige for our region is having Bacolod as city the top provincial capital in the country. amo na lang gid na ang pwede mapabugal sa WV:) i hope they can catch up....

@dark spirit
I so agree, tanan na issue ihaboy nila sa aton ciudad pero nagabalik gihapon sa ila ang argumento and the clear fact is the regional capital of western visayas is really lagging behind other regional capitals that are even younger like CDO and Davao, that's why it's sad to see the siggy of migo dark spirit kay daw amo gid na ang feeling siguro sang kalabanan di na ssc bacolod forumers.....:(
Linguine June 2nd, 2011, 03:00 AM Ang ginhambal ko are based man lang na sa ila mga siggy.Wala ko na ginhimo-himo lang.:lol:
Sin-o na si Znet nga gapm pm pa sa akon.Ano na naman ang biniga nya.Since indi ko siya kilala trash bin ang pm nya.:lol:I dont read pm/mails sa indi ko kilala. So,Znet get off my face ,smart ass or sa ilonggo...shoo,shoo!
Baw daw langaw gali na gina shooo........:hilarious
kung sa nightlife ya, bacolodnons know how to throw the best parties in town...even a couple of decades ago, bacolod had already the nightlife which the other city did not have at that time...we had ventana, upperground, cyberazia and many others which became popular not only to the locals but also to the visitors who came here...goldenfield is still one of the party scenes in our city plus ang sa lacson-mandlagan area, east block, metrodome and even sa outskirt na sang city, ang North...if they will go here, they will surely have a good time...
So True Migs, for us nga part sang WV is considered as Disppointment nga ang aton ya Regional Center wigit and if ang Bacolod wala nag asenso, anu na lang ang matabo sa WV.They haven't really played thier role as the Regional Center.Paiya-iya man gihapon.
indi lang na guro kaagwanta si Z-net. mayo nalang na gani kay gina pm ya na. before he used to have the nerves to post in our thread with his uncalled for remarks... natubuan man guid sya guro huya this time to post in the thread...

JuIcYdUdE22 June 2nd, 2011, 03:50 AM I think it is just a waste of time to discuss Regional centers, in this thread.
We have nothing to do with their Rise and Fall.
We have to concentrate on how we can improve our turf.
We know already how the system works.

Kun sa Gross Regional Domestic Product lang (outside of NCR) second man ang Region 6 (first ang Region 3, Central luzon), at least as per latest regional data sang NSO (2009). Naunahan ta na actually ang Region 7 (central visayas). :) Pero kung rate of increase lang, unahan pa naton (248% increase since 2000) ang Region 3 (218% increase since 2000). So indi malayo nga malapawan ta man eventually ang Region 3.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia officially turned over yesterday the two-storey Bacolod City Eye Center to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital headed by Dr. Epifania Simbul, Chief of Hospital III.
The facility worth P3.2 million is located at the corner of Lacson-Burgos streets in Bacolod City.
Project engineer Aladino Agbones said the construction of the project started on March 15, 2010 and was completed on Nov. 30, 2010.
Leonardia said the project was funded by the city because they believe that eye care is one of the most important health concerns. They also hope it will serve the poor, not only those in Bacolod, but everyone in Negros Occidental, he said.
He said the facility is the second major project of the city since the lying-in clinic that has already proven to be effective and has served hundreds of people in Bacolod.
Based on the agreement, the CLMMRH will operate the facility, while the city will help provide nursing aides, Leonardia said.
Under the MOA they will provide four nursing aides but this will be flexible, depending on the circumstances, he said.
Leonardia said they will support the CLMMRH in the meantime that the city cannot afford to build one. They do not want to build a hospital and not able to sustain its operation, he said.
Since there is already an existing facility, they want to help it in as many ways as possible to facilitate faster and better service to the people especially because majority of the patients at the CLMMRH are from Bacolod, he added.
Leonardia said the city will also continue to provide assistance to the patients of the hospital.
The city received a Certificate of Acceptance from the CLMMRH during the turnover ceremony yesterday, while the mayor also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the hospital.
Present at the turnover rites were Health Undersecretary Dr. David Lozada Jr., Dr. Drilon, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, Councilors Em Legaspi-Ang and Caesar Distrito, City Health Officer Dr. Salome Biñas, Dr. Babylin Drilon, among others.
Meanwhile, Dr. Julius Drilon, the brother of Senator Franklin Drilon, promised Leonardia that by next week he will bring good news about the improvements in the Bacolod City Eye Center to service the needs of the whole province.

The vouchers for Batch 5 were directly sourced by USLS from TESDA - PESFA, and the scholars were recommended by The Department of Local Government – Bago City which also provided a transportation allowance for the scholars.
The vouchers for Batch 6 were sourced from a scholarship grant from the office of the Rep. Anthony Golez entitled Training for Work Scholarship Program, the press release said.*

RepublicaNegrense June 2nd, 2011, 05:55 AM Ikthus bro is a baptist and founded in bacolod na gali, right?...GCF is Greenhills Community Fellowship and CCF is Christ Commission Fellowship? sa manila daw may ara nga midrise ila structure like sang Jesus Is Lord church kag Cathedral of Praise pero indi lang daku...sa gwa countries pang coliseum/stadium type ang churches sang pentecostal/charismatic and baptist churches like iya ni David Yonggi Cho of Yoido Full Gospel church sa korea, reach 1 million members,,,under ni sya sa Assemblies of God (pentecostal) denomination same as with of hillsong church...sa US is Lakewood church 50,000+ members...ang dri sa amon church is Bethlehem Charismatic church mga 200+ members lang under Assemblies of God man...
GCF is Greenhills Christian Fellowship, a Baptist Church.
When I moved to Manila, I also moved my membership there from Ikthus since my family settled na din in Manila.
GCF in Ortigas has a 9 floor structure pero ka confusing lang sang floors kung first timer ka since and floors G (Ground Floor), M (Mezanine), 2, B (Balcony - Sanctuary Balcony), 3, 4, 5, 6 kag may stairs pa topmost floor. The new building is stuck together with the Old building na 4 floors. The New Audi can sit 2,250 while ang Old Audi is 1,150. It has 10,000 members, 3,000+ registered and active in Ortigas while the rest scattered among 20 satellite churches or have gone to countries without a GCF satellite. The other GCF satellites with big congregations are South Metro, East, North and Toronto. There are four satellites in Canada. Not as big as Lakewood or Hillsong pero by Philippine standards, dako na guid na.
Mas dako pa guid ang CCF. They have built their billion-peso structure along C-5 in Tiendesitas which can sit I think 7,000 to 10,000 at one auditorium with a "smaller" 2,250 auditorium and an even "smaller" one which can sit 500 - 1,000. They will have more complete facilities than that of GCF. Their membership is 22,000 spread from their current St. Francis Square location to 15 other CCF branches, most noted is CCF Alabang and CCF Singapore. CCF's new structure is by far the most gargantuan one.
Ang hope ko lang guid sa Ikthus is that they'd follow at least GCF's structure example para space saving, aesthetically practical, bagay sa location and of course looking at future that the church family will really outgrow their current facilities and I think its beginning to outgrow them at the current moment and pace.

@dark spirit June 2nd, 2011, 07:39 AM Feeds and meat lab launched in Bacolod (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2011/June/02/businessnews1.htm)
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez led the inauguration of the P5-million provincial government owned Feeds and Meat Laboratory at Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City yesterday morning.
This is a component for our food security thrust for Negros Occidental, Marañon said.
The laboratory will enable the random analysis of feeds sold for farm animals use, for nutrient content, Marañon said.
That way the quality of feeds sold in the province can be maintained, he said.
The laboratory will also be used to determine the quality and safety of meat being sold in Negros Occidental.
It will also be used for research to develop locally produced feeds, and to conduct soil and fertilizer analysis for the sugar industry, the governor said.
The laboratory will be a deterrent against unscrupulous businessmen selling substandard agriculture products,he said.
The laboratory building costs P1 million, its equipment – P3 million and its chemical reagents – P1 million, Marilyn Manuel, provincial government consultant, said.
It is the first laboratory of its kind in Negros Occidental, she said.
With a laboratory in Negros Occidental needed tests for feeds and meat will have faster results and will be cheaper, she said.*CPG

And what do we fight for here? As a forumer, should i also join in the fighting/argument? because from what i think, it's not necessary. Just my opinion. I hope this is not something negative.
:lol:That's why I wasn't interested in reading pm's from the kampon ni Tagoy. They always have to say something back for any negative comments sa ila.For them to see themselves is to check the mirror ones in a while. So who's thier mirror?sadly its us.They don't intend to listen and consider your opinion. All they see is themselves as the righteous people.Just enjoy every time here in SSC Bacolod so that you're time will not be wasted.
