Miami CBD STREET PICS

So I went downtown last week to buy a cheap suitcase (to pack up for college next week) and fortunately had my camera...while there, I realized that the Central Business District (north of the Miami River) was a more significant district then I had previously thought. While there is alot of improvement that needs to take place, what we got IS pretty great!!

I think that is 25 SE 2nd Ave. If your ever near it again check out the interior lobby. It has really nice gold leaf work all over the ceiling.

Its nice to see some renovation occuring there. I'd like to see a more extensive tour through these streets sometime. It would be awesome to see the South Beach ambiance filling up these streets; cafes, tables, chairs everywhere. Are any of the towers set to go up within the historic area here?

Great thread. Miami has a lot of historical crown jewels that are overlooked due to the huge construction boom taking place there.

I really love what they did with the Carrion as well. No pictures of the other recently renovated Commonwealth Building? I havne't seen it in person yet, but supposedly they've done a bang-up job of it.

Can't wait for Flagler First to get going either.

Yes skydive, both Loft I and Loft II are going up in the areas I took pics....and of course around the supertalls, there will be the Dupont Towers, the Metropolitan highrises, and One Miami, and 50 Biscayne

also, as far as the South Beach Ambiance, this is what I'm hopping all these projects will bring forth in Downtown Miami...(of course not exactly like south beach, but a lively, desirable, urban neighborhhod of its own)!!

I have shopped and walked numerous times downtown and I'm glad so many older buildings have been preserved.I just wish more would people explore the heart of our city and realize what a dense & urban city we really have.

I think the old Burdines building should be renovated....don't you think a very nice Macy's downtown could be a catalyst for the attraction of dowtown by more retailers? If Macy's prospers downtown, other retailers may flock at the opportunity of having a business downtown!

Well i`ll be, Miami does have a history, that Secruity Building that is so pretty, most attractive ive seen in Miami, even if it is a little run down at the moment, can`t wait to see it done up!

wow, how did I miss this one...it was probably b/c back then, I think it was before the Miami forum and it probably got lost in the mix. great shots... I think Miami-Dade has the most buildings on the national historic register in FLA.
