The Rockwall group are about to start work on a 9 level/36 unit block on Grand Parade - Brighton le Sands in Sydney's south (Fabian territory)

Thanks Cul. I haven't seen or read anything on the development. I haven't seen signage on the site itself. Firstly it's the first highrise complex to be built in the suburb in seven years since Ocean View apartments was completed in 1998
It's one of the best residential towers ever to come Brighton's way. It's an excellent design. I won't have to travel into the inner city or Wolli Creek to be treated to such work. It's as tall as it can get as eight stories is the maximum for buildings around the town centre. There won't be many more
At present the site comprises a former flemmings supermarket (It closed two - three years ago) and I can see it will also include the site of the Brighton Fruitbarn, located next door. The map on the webpage shows the wrong location of the development. It's on Bay Street, but just to the west of Moate Avenue.

I noticed on the bus this afternoon that was a sign outside the former flemmings promoting a demolition sale for a clothing retailer which have rented out the site for the past several months. It means work is about to begin.
Also there has been marketing in the real estate pages of newspapers with a full page ad in the property section of the Inner West Courier this week. The Leader (the local rag) didn't have any in their's. :?

The Fruitbarn is now vacant meaning that demolition of buildings is about to begin.

I have heard that work has begun at last one the development. The buildings have been knocked down including the former flemmings supermarket and the tower will now be serviced apartments.
There is also an 8 storey apartment tower also being built in Bay St near Crawford Ave, on the site of shops that were destroyed in an explosion in 2000.

The D/A has since been changed significantly. It's now a two tower project of 9 and 5 storeys

And it looks like the Council has approved it.
