Sultan August 25th, 2004, 01:23 AM its at Kalma Chowk

Its_Waqas August 25th, 2004, 01:49 PM hmm i see some improvements in the design, the most noticeable is the increase in the number of storeys.
Its good to see Gulberg taking shape, Eden Towers just looks amazing from Bank Al-Falah chowk. Gulberg just needs 3-5 buildings with 16+ storeys, then it will be truly awsome.
pakboy August 25th, 2004, 02:58 PM its in garden town not gulberg, and eden tower has failed. but the building is nice. and there are more the 5 buildings in gulberg under construction which are 16+ storeys.
Its_Waqas August 25th, 2004, 04:02 PM i know its in New Garden town, Eden Tower has failed! i think its too early to say that. and i havent seen any underconstruction 16+ storey buildings in gulberg can i have there information and exact location.
pakboy August 25th, 2004, 10:21 PM there is big city mall 17 storeys, sadiq trade center, 16 storeys, aashiana center, construction just started, and there are a few more which are gona start later this year.
eden tower has failed, the tower is nice and is good from inside too with shiny marble floors, only about 10% of all there shops were sold. and the 10% shops which were sold are also closed and up for sale.
cntower August 25th, 2004, 10:34 PM Wow that not good. Still I think you have to give it time it may work out eventually, but 10% only?
pakboy August 25th, 2004, 11:22 PM the roof for ahad tower is awsome
http://www.powermarketings.com/ahad/maps/r.jpg
Sultan August 26th, 2004, 01:21 AM the roof top looks impressive.
so what is the status on this project? has construction commenced yet ?
pakboy August 26th, 2004, 02:43 AM well when i saw them last week they were digging the ground out, so it just started.
Sultan August 26th, 2004, 02:51 AM what about the century tower ? is it good ?
Its_Waqas August 26th, 2004, 10:41 AM Century tower is average, nothing special. Big city 17 storeys? at present only 11 (above ground) have been completed and aashiana isnt going to be more than 7-8 (above ground) and siddique trade center is 14 storeys (above ground) and city tower is 12 (above ground), Gulberg still needs some 16+s.
Sultan August 26th, 2004, 08:05 PM Good stuff. a lot of construction going on.

Waqas, since your in Lahore, can you get the brochures or advertisements from the papers, and scan them, upload them, and share them with us, because most of the on going projects in Pakistan are mostly advertised through newspapers, television ads, radio, and brochures.
but.. now advertising projects on the Internet has started. still we need to get more info. so if you could do that. it would be great.
Its_Waqas August 30th, 2004, 12:58 PM hey pak boy i see two different designs, which 1's the final i hope that its the 1st one with more storeys.
pakboy August 30th, 2004, 03:19 PM hey pak boy i see two different designs, which 1's the final i hope that its the 1st one with more storeys.
i think its the second 1 as they added the roof later and also streched the center to make it longer. but you can go to there office and ask them and get some more pictures for us :) .
Sultan September 2nd, 2004, 03:39 AM i like the second design, the building looks big and nice :D
zuhahmed September 2nd, 2004, 06:13 AM wow this is nice, the building should have been taller though

zuhahmed September 2nd, 2004, 06:43 AM are all the 17 floors for the mall
Sultan September 2nd, 2004, 06:46 AM well no majors cities downtown is really dead.
sorry. come again ?
but . in Pakistan they have that Downtown thing, but they dont have the downtown concept going .... yet.. i'd love to see a few skyscrapers come up in almost every major city, like a cluster of them in one area, that would give a skyline view, and plus would look cool.
zuhahmed September 2nd, 2004, 06:48 AM no sorry man that was for other thread, i accidentaly posted it here. lol :bash:
Sultan September 2nd, 2004, 06:59 AM but still. you got an answer ! ;)

well, this is cool too ..... how can u be so sure ?
pakboy September 10th, 2004, 07:22 PM yeh i think its the other one not this one,
HasanB September 10th, 2004, 08:06 PM this might sound like a stupid question ... but what are all those poster type things on the bottom floors of Ahad tower. They should take them off its look much better with only glass and steel !
pakboy September 10th, 2004, 08:44 PM this might sound like a stupid question ... but what are all those poster type things on the bottom floors of Ahad tower. They should take them off its look much better with only glass and steel !
those are the boards of the shop with there name on it, but yes they should have made it fully glass.
cntower September 11th, 2004, 02:37 AM Just wondering...will this also be a office tower...I mean the higher floors..
Sultan September 11th, 2004, 05:02 AM i would like to see two or three of these type of buildings a bit taller (office towers) turn into an IT park.... that would be great!
Its_Waqas September 11th, 2004, 10:37 AM this is the final design i saw the advertisment in news papers. i think they wanted some parking space thats y they made it smaller but this design is much better. hey as any 1 seen CRESCENT STANDARD BUILDING its amazing, i think its the best looking building in Pakistan but its short only 8-9 floors :(
Sultan September 11th, 2004, 10:41 AM Yaar, get me a pic of that Crescent Standard Building ! I wanna see :(
Sultan September 11th, 2004, 10:42 AM if you see more ads of different projects, please scan them and share them with us...
Its_Waqas September 11th, 2004, 10:57 AM I dont have a pic of it, but it sure looks good glass and aluminium great design i wish it was taller,it should have been a 16 storey, hey Pakboy have u seen it?
pakboy September 11th, 2004, 04:01 PM I dont have a pic of it, but it sure looks good glass and aluminium great design i wish it was taller,it should have been a 16 storey, hey Pakboy have u seen it?
yeh i went pass it about 200 times when i was in lahore, its diffinatly the best building in lahore.
cntower January 19th, 2005, 11:02 PM add this
cntower July 10th, 2005, 09:04 PM I have seen the construction at Kalma Chowk in Lahore; it seems like they have stopped for some reason why?
Tagga July 11th, 2005, 12:46 PM They have blocked the cut that links main boulevard garden town to ferozpur road and they are using it as a storage place for construction material, the project belongs to some MNA.
pakboy July 11th, 2005, 04:05 PM so wats gona happen to this mall then.
Tagga July 12th, 2005, 05:39 AM it will be completed but after a LONG, LONG time.
Techno-Architect September 17th, 2005, 03:18 AM any news or updates??
Techno-Architect September 17th, 2005, 03:21 AM http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a381/Techno-Architect/Khalid%20Abdur%20Rehman/AaFaT-Lahore-AhadTower102-103Garden.jpg
cntower September 17th, 2005, 03:09 PM Ahad Tower should really wake up and move some of the stuff off the street; Tagga is right it's creating chaos at that intersection as if people don't already have enough problems there. Kalama Chowk is such a pain; the signal lights take forever and on top of it Ahad Tower's construction material is taking up a lane.
Plus whenever it rains all that sand turns to MUD; it's horrible. Either they finish the building now or move the material...!
huit September 18th, 2005, 07:17 AM I'd be happy if the govt decides to demolish the structure... somebody should do something!

Roadside debris creating problems
BY IQTIDAR GILANI
LAHORE - Builders continue to carry on with impunity construction activity by blocking service lanes and at certain places even the roadsides despite repeated warnings from the City District Government.
The government is seemingly helpless in controlling the menace, arising out of dumping building material and debris on roadsides and forcing the builders to abide by the prescribed rules and regulations.
It is obligatory on the citizens to heap building material and debris within their property premises. Dumping of materials on roadsides in violation of law causes inconvenience to general public.
Besides causing inconvenience to the motorists and pedestrians, the practice of putting building material and debris on roadsides is damaging the road infrastructure itself especially during rainy season.
The phenomenon of encroaching upon roads and streets during construction activity is not confined to residential areas only. This nuisance can be seen even at important and busiest roads in the city.
The glaring example of this practice is under construction Ahad Tower at Ferozepur Road, where the builder has blocked the entire service lane and causing great inconvenience to the traffic.
Motorists going toward Canal Bridge at the Ferozepur Road have to wait at the signal at Kalma Chowk due to the blockage of service lane resulting into long queues of vehicles.
The construction activity and digging of basement at the said Ahad Tower has already damaged the road besides adversely affecting the sewerage and water supply lines. Accumulation of water at the service road due to putting building material and debris on roadside has completely washed away the road surface causing huge economic loss to the government.
Sources revealed that sewerage and water supply lines were completely damaged during the digging of basement at Ahad Tower.
This digging caused over Rs 1.8 million loss to the Water and Sanitation Agency. WASA, however, restored the said facilities to the residential and commercial localities in the surrounding areas through temporary arrangements. The sources believe that WASA officials are helpless, as the said under construction plaza belongs to an influential politician.
The sources in the Lahore Development Authority have however revealed that a committee has been constituted to probe into the matter and action would be taken in the light of proposals submitted by the committee.
The illegal activity of putting the building material at roads can also be seen near LDA Plaza. The builder has dug basement during monsoon while the building material has blocked half of the road right under the nose of LDA authorities. This nuisance has severely damaged the road and causing inconvenience to motorists.
pakboy September 29th, 2005, 07:42 PM any update, i really wanted to see this tower in real.
huit September 29th, 2005, 09:17 PM the freakin structure and the debris is causing massive traffic jams at Kalma Chowk! Somebody please shoot the owner - I'd love to see this project go down the drain!

QM May 19th, 2008, 10:33 AM It would be a terrible experience having apartment or shop in this plaza. its owner is really a sick person. he has 2-3 more plazas in lahore. and everyone is crying in them. My old office was also in Ahad tower Mini Market. And we left it because of countless problems in it. All his building have few Common problems.
1. NO MANAGEMENT
2. No Maintenance
3. No Responsibility
4. No Water
5. No Electricity(maintenance)
6. No Cleanliness
7. No facility like elevators etc.
8. and if you think other basic facilities are there, sorry brothers you are wrong
He just built it, sell it and gone for the next. same things with the ahad center in liberty. we had an apartment in ahad heights mini market. and for each problem we had to fix it ourselves. can you believe that no one was there to operate motor for water supply. and at last i had to take responsibility and i installed motor switch in my office :-( we also bought our separate water tank and when electricity problems used to happen i or my neighbor had to call or go to wapda office. Our another neighbor took the responsibility of cleanliness. and Many and many more problems we had to face just because of no central management. And at last we had to leave that shit place.
It was like hell in the heaven of MM Alam Road :-)
QM May 19th, 2008, 10:39 AM sorry i forgot another Really big problem.
9. NO PARKING SPACE.
not in front of plaza nor in basement. he made shops in basement and sell the parking space. A PLAZA without parking :-) he is a corrupt person. he joined Muslim league (Q) and then who can blame.
And i see no parking place in this plaza too. He blocked a part of the main road near kalma chowk for many months and no one could stop him.
KB May 19th, 2008, 10:48 AM Sadly, every second plaza has this problem.
And when every wedding can block a street and every house construction can do it, why single out this guy?
LDA ( and other city govt authorities) should make it mandatory to have a basement parking proportional to the occupants/visitors.
Intoxication May 19th, 2008, 09:59 PM Sorry to hear about that Qaiser! :(

i dont want to see that short building over there they should demolish it all then built some nice building there
Ahmad Rashid Ahmad December 9th, 2009, 02:02 PM The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday started demolition of five floors of the Ahad Tower at Kalma Chowak, which were constructed in violation of building by-laws.
According to details, originally only six floors had been approved for the building while the remaining five were constructed against LDA rules. Earlier, the LDA on Sunday started demolition of the four-storey Al-Rehman Medical Complex on Ferozepur Road in Naseerabad. The building had been constructed on land allotted for katchi abadis and such land could not be used for commercial purposes according to the rules.

brightside. December 10th, 2009, 10:26 PM It's good that they are demolishing inadequately designed buildings which don't cater to the parking needs relative to their size! Finally, some urban planning culture is developing here.

well this building shouldnt have been allowed in the first place, they way it was built was totally illegal, he was suppose to leave 10-20ft in front of the building which he didnt, it is built right next to the road and looks ugly
_BPS_ December 11th, 2009, 09:21 AM Instead of demolishing it, can't they reconstruct/modify the first few floors for parking?
