View Full Version : There's Grass Growing in the Desert
womfalcs3 January 3rd, 2011, 09:00 AM What's this all about? Is somebody engineering this, or is it completely natural?
There are patches of grass and other plants along the freeway leading to Madinah from Jeddah. There's one area I remember where if you look from a certain angle, you wouldn't even be able to tell you're in the desert.
I'm not talking about the chicken farm.

Seriously, though. It's really cool to see large patches of bright green grass along the freeways. That's a great picture, Rody. I've shown it to several people, and they couldn't believe that was in the outskirts of Jeddah.

How do you think our ancestors survived in this country for thousands of years? The whole idea behind being a bedouin is that you can graze your livestock on the grass that forms in the springtime after the rain.
(The green patch you encountered between Riyadh and Khobar is Si3d National Park, btw.)
Rody69 January 9th, 2011, 12:06 AM R U sure this pic taken between Jeddah and Makkah???
