Another example of "all Arabs" hating Pakistanis?

This step should've been taken a long time ago. for greater co-operation among arabs and non arab muslim states. we should all stand united not divided. and we should not be racist towards other nationalities.

these type of projects are pure business. but you should how the Pakistanis and the Indians are treated in UAE..

"inta bakistani walla hindi" .. and all that stuff.. man its just sad. anyways. i dont wanna talk about this.

i was born in UAE. my dad has lived there for 42 years. but now i'm in Canada. why ? for my higher education. cause they wont let me live in UAE after i'm 18, and when my dad went back. he still needed a visa. even after working in the arab lands for 42 years. damn..

anyways.. drop it.

Look, you're absolutely right in having grievances. We all have grievances of some form or another with something or the other in life. I would say that your father probably deserves citizenship in this country because of the fact that he worked and lived here for 42 years.

My father has been here for more than 25 years and he too hasn't received citizenship. I've been living here for 18 years...no citizenship for me either.

But, that's a government policy...something you and I have no control over. What really bothered me was what some people were saying in the Pakistan forum about "all Arabs". Those remarks were disgusting and unfair. We should avoid all such generalizations. Tragically, this incident has made me lose interest in the Pakistan forum, which is why I chose to post this here, rather than there.

Yes, there may be some Arabs (Emirati or otherwise) who mistreat South Asians and/or other nationalities. But, how can you judge the entire Emirati population and the entire Arab race based on individual incidents?

I am almost 20 and still live in the UAE (legally). I am studying at a university here. So are alot of my South Asian friends (Pakistanis, Indians, Bengalis, etc.), Alhamdulilah.

And even if you (and some of the other people in the Pakistan forum) were mistreated by the Arabs, does that justify generalizing about them and making racist comments about them (I'm not saying you did or didn't do this...just making a general comment)?

You said I know what goes on here (with respect to the plight of South Asians). Yes, I do. And I'm also saying that as unfair as it may seem, it does in no way justify your (or anyone else's) hatred/dislike towards the Arab/Emirati people.

We are all brothers and sisters in Islam. If they mistreated you, then forgive them. But please do not forget that Islam has established brotherhood between all Muslims. Even if the Arabs have forgotten this (and they have not), then does that mean the Pakistanis too should forget it? I just wish you guys at the Pakistan forum would understand this.

Anyway, take care.

I am an Emarati , my Father is Yemani , and we come from a famous Yemani Tribe . We all have Passports and the family papers are by law , HOWEVER

We have no land , no homes , no nothing

My father saw his friends grow up and get land , houses , money to get married and nothing for him

Now that i`m 20 i`m starting to see the same pattern , but hopefully i wont end up like my father moving from on rented home to another

And again THIS IS LIFE

I was mistreated on many occasions by Local Guys from so called better more powerful tribes , you know what , just smile to their faces

Coz i know i`m better than them al hamdulelah at almost everything + i have a better stronger family al hamdulelah

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh THIS IS LIFE

LOL @ the Bur Dubai and Deira thread. Believe me, that thread shocked me...hehe.

I don't think we're here just to discuss skyscrapers (although that's the main reason we're here). Look at most of the forums. People discuss (and are allowed to) all sorts of things (in their respective bars/bazaars or whatever). There is the skybar, then there is the North American Skybar, there is the sky bazaar in the Asian Skyscrapers forum.

I don't think it's wise to limit discussions just to skyscrapers. We should discuss all issues relevant to the country and the region, don't you agree? Yes, the majority of the discussions would/should always be on skyscrapers and related stuff.

Perhaps we should have a Sky Souq? Discussions of this sort could perhaps be carried on there?

I personally believe this discussion (on racism) was very important.

Anyway, take care.
Bye.

Well.. its racism.. and now since I'm a Pakistani-Canadian. i can go to UAE without a Visa. and i get my passport stamped for 3 mths without visa stay. now how discriminating is that.

lets say this.. a country that is not muslim is being treated good. whereas a brother muslim nation is being treated as crap.

thats all i gotta say.

yeah sure, but didn't you notice that especially arabs and pakistanis start to "argue" immediately!! within 2 posts they already talk about racism and discrimination.

and i can't understand why - just like in this thread - the discussion goes on with the words "Another example of all Arabs hating Pakistanis?", although sultan was talking about internet city!!! this got NOTHING to do with it!!!

for christian people like me it's always hard to understand why people of the same religion start to talk about racism and stuff!!??

there you can see, that everybody tries to defeat his own opinion to the very last, so that it won't end! look through the dubai thread in the pakistan forum: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=127714
they are just talking about racism and discrimination!!!

but this is a problem created by the same religion! this is what is absolutely incredible!!! and the world has seen much worse things than visiting a country with visa! if you consider this as discrimination?! even germans had to have a visa when they wanted to enter the usa as tourists! and,... where's problem??

I was trying to be sarcastic, since alot of the people back there in the Pakistan forum were passing comments about Arabs never helping (nor interested in doing so) Pakistan, etc.

And, this phenomenon of Arabs and Pakistanis having such heated and racist arguments is something relatively new to me (both in real life and the internet). Most of the discussions I've seen Pakistanis (or even South Asians in general) holding with Arabs have been rather amicable and friendly. So, I was quite amazed to see the attitude of some of the Pakistani forumers here at SSC.

Is there anything wrong in condemning racism?

the visa thing has little to do with discrimination. if there are lots of visitors from a certain country that overstay their visa then that country would be considered "high-risk" and so they would need to get a visa in advance.

I don't want any more regulars at the South Asian forums posting anything here that's related to news of their country.

What is this blatant hypocrisy of condemning one nation and then posting a thread here about how they're good business partners?

Honestly, with some of the posts I see on these forums which talk about opening strip clubs, the backwardness of religion, or how the UAE locals are lazy and stupid.. I am starting to question whether I would be happy with having more foreigners coming in and whether some who are already here should stay.

All these residential projects should be cancelled.

DozerGirl, r u serious, cancel all these residential projects. I swear as much as I admire Dubai, but I think Dubai has opened a flood gate and forever the locals will suffer, if any do still exist in dubai in ten years. This all for more money and power for a very few ppl at the expanse of the local. Inshalla this doesn't happen in Qatar but unfortuantly slowly the policies of the gov't are starting to move this way.

And about westerners not needing a visa while pakistains need one. Well generally french, germans, or americans don't really overstay their visa in the uae and work illegaly causing alot of problems for the gov't like pakistains do!

I like the idea of a Sky Souq sounds great
any i believe we are here to discuss more than skyscrapers that’s my feeling
we do get of topic but that what happens in discussions more heated topics come to light and they become dominant ! we some times get of track but this topics are relevant if people have some thing to say here and are not just trolling
Visas in Dubai I have mixed feeling I mean I wish was easier and a am shocked well not shocked just find it odd that some can live here all their life and then at 60 years of working hit trouble or that some has grown up here when they are not working has trouble despite the fact they can support them selves I don’t know as i don’t know all the details so hesitant to say much.
Back to topic till we sway again
Why many ideas may have worked as a business model abit just to generate funds and interest in Dubai I think it may be to early to start exporting them yet ? Do you agree with this ?

Internet Media City to be set up in Karachi
Pakistan Times National News Desk

KARACHI: An Internet Media City would be set up in Karachi on the pattern of one that exists in Dubai.

Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Syed Mustafa Kamal, said this while talking to media here on Tuesday.

He pointed out that the government of Pakistan has signed an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the setting up of three internet media cities in the country.

The Locales

These would be established in Islamabad, Lahore and in Karachi.

The Minister pointed out that Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, has made arrangement of 200 acres of land in the outskirts of the metropolis for the setting up of internet media city, close to the proposed educational city.●
