TheAlmightyFuzz August 27th, 2004, 09:15 PM I tried a lot of pizza restaurants like Pizza pizza, pizza hut,241, mama's, pizza nova but the best in my opinion is Pizza 2-4-1. Travis007 August 27th, 2004, 09:20 PM edit Are Be August 27th, 2004, 10:02 PM Pizza Pizza? 241? Best pizza? This is a joke, right? Try your local pizza guy! Find me a strip mall, and I'll find you a pizza place! Of the chains, Pizza Nova is the best, but, I lik pizza from various small, local pizza places. PIZZA PIZZA?!?! I pay money not to eat it. SD August 27th, 2004, 10:03 PM 2-4-1 is kind of gross. If you're talking best Pizza Place in the city...there are scores of places that are better. If you're talking best chain...that's a different story; but 2-4-1 still isn't the best in that category. Buster August 27th, 2004, 10:07 PM 2-4-1 makes me ill. The Amato's chain is my fave. John's classic at college and clinton is pretty good too. TheAlmightyFuzz August 27th, 2004, 10:13 PM Oh well, everyone has their own opinion. Pizza 241 was the first pizza I ever tried, the one down my street on Dufferin and davenport. It might not be the best pizza I ever tried but I grew up with it and I started loving it...that's why its my favorite. KGB August 27th, 2004, 10:15 PM yea...i like Amato's too.....great toppings...and the locations are great...it always makes for a great late-night snack along Queen West. The one at Queen & Bathurst is my fave...hang out on the bench...or try their back romm...it's a great full restaurant to boot. KGB Homer J. Simpson August 27th, 2004, 10:57 PM There is a place on Dundas not to far from High Park called Visuvio's. There pizza is pretty good. On Queen St W, there is a place called Terroni's (something like that) that has great pizza too. I'm pretty sure its on Queen. Mr Man August 27th, 2004, 11:15 PM 3. The big slice 2. Amato 1. Pizza Nova 2-4-1... Is that a joke? I prefer 3-4-1 myself. DanfromTO August 27th, 2004, 11:57 PM I Agree With You I Looooove Pizza Nova Sweet KGB August 28th, 2004, 12:11 AM I used to live a few blocks from Vesuvio's. Apparantly, they were the first pizza joint in TO. I used to grab a slice there all the time....it's not bad...not the best I've ever had though. But everybody has very different ideas on what good pizza is. KGB ganjavih August 28th, 2004, 12:16 AM Mamma's Terroni's Amato Homer J. Simpson August 28th, 2004, 12:34 AM I have a friend who lives close to Vesuvio's, we used to go there to pic up some lunch from time to time. Terroni's is really cool because they offer such a cool setting as well as good pizza. TS1 August 28th, 2004, 12:54 AM The Colliseum at Yonge and Elm. It's been a while so I'm not even sure if it's still there or if the same people own/run it. As far as chains go - Pizza Nova is the only one I'll touch. salvius August 28th, 2004, 03:10 AM Mamma's Terroni's Amato yep, this is the definitive list right here Filip August 28th, 2004, 02:48 PM Il Padre's on Royal York in Etobicoke, sublime pizza. Can't get it anywhere else! indian August 29th, 2004, 01:38 AM It's gotta be Pizza Hut, the one near Dufferin Mall. Event the Pizza Hut on StClair Ave West is pretty good. Pizza Pizza sucks. They don't have that much variety. RRo August 29th, 2004, 04:49 AM terroni is my personal favourite, it is the most authentic italian to me (and i am italian). for the chains i personally think pizza pizza is the least greasy, which to me is a better pizza. turboskyline August 29th, 2004, 08:20 AM Bitondo's!!! amazing cheap pizza and the best panzorotto I have ever tried. Mr Man August 29th, 2004, 08:26 AM I always found Pizza Pizza a little dry... Homer J. Simpson August 29th, 2004, 07:25 PM Once I saw a 3-4-1 Pizza in Rexdale area! Now thats good value! You do not want to be eating pizza or any other food in Rexdale. I live not to far from Rexdale so I see some of the crap that goes on there. KGB August 29th, 2004, 08:53 PM I haven't had any in years, but I used to work with a lot of jewish people...and they swore by Camarra's (Dufferin & Lawrence area)....I remember it being good...just can't say it was outstanding. I've heard good things about Dante's in Thornhill too. Via Allegro (out on the Queensway), is more known for it's incredibly expensive dishes...and it's even more impressive wine cellar( 47,000 bottles)...but I've heard many times they make the most authentic pizza this side of Naples. Price and location doesn't excactly make it convenient for a quick slice after the bars or clubs close though. KGB turboskyline August 29th, 2004, 09:11 PM lol, a friend of mine is a waiter at Via Allegro. It ain't in Toronto but its relatively close, if anyone ever has the chance to check out Manhanttan's in Geulph, it's probably the best high end pizza I have ever had at a restauraunt. KGB August 29th, 2004, 09:24 PM "a friend of mine is a waiter at Via Allegro. KGB Mr Man August 30th, 2004, 12:29 AM I think there is one thing we can all agree on: Toronto needs more Pizza Places and Coffee Shops... seriously. TheAlmightyFuzz August 30th, 2004, 12:31 AM Well there's plenty of cafe's in Toronto, just look at Dundas west and the Portugal Village. Grey Towers August 30th, 2004, 07:06 AM No question about it, Napoli Vince's near Bathurst/Finch. Best pizza in town. salvius August 30th, 2004, 08:02 AM I think there is one thing we can all agree on: Toronto needs more Pizza Places and Coffee Shops... seriously. Pizza places, maybe, although there is tons. I can think of many small ones that I can't think the names to. Coffee shops, sure, the more the merrier, but I think that we're not really missing anything. There's still enough. SD August 30th, 2004, 08:33 AM I think MrMan was being sarcastic guys... salvius August 30th, 2004, 09:00 AM Really? :bash: lcohen999 August 30th, 2004, 03:39 PM Dante's is really good, just really $$$ I dunno, I still find Toronto pizza kinda of blan compared to some other cities (Montreal) SD August 30th, 2004, 08:15 PM Really? :bash: Sure...pizza places are everywhere. And coffee shops? You can't escape them! Ed007Toronto August 30th, 2004, 08:43 PM Pizza Hut??? My god how could anybody pick them. Terroni's Amato Casa Di Georgio at Jarvis and Esplanade is a casual family run sit down place that does Italian almost as well as my mother. It is reasonably price and delivers. Pizza GiGi used to be pretty good. Haven't been there in a while so who knows. There's also a place on the north side of College just west of Spadina that's pretty good. Can't remember the name. Buster September 1st, 2004, 03:22 PM There's also a place on the north side of College just west of Spadina that's pretty good. Can't remember the name. Massimo's? I've always dug that place untill it mashed up my stomach the other day. I won't be going there for a while. Ed007Toronto September 1st, 2004, 05:53 PM Yes that's the place. It's been a while since I've been there so perhaps they have gone down hill. rapideye95 May 2nd, 2005, 06:51 PM the best pizza PLACE in TORONTO IS ...IL PAESANO on Browns Line and Horner...if you haven't been there try it...it's been around longer than all of the pizza places in toronto...so y'all oughta try it algonquin May 2nd, 2005, 07:29 PM Cora's and Amato's. apchrist May 2nd, 2005, 07:43 PM Amato's urbanspy May 2nd, 2005, 08:26 PM The best chain is Pizza Nova... but there are a lot of good resteraunts that make good pizza. Il fornello makes good pizza. JARdan May 2nd, 2005, 09:03 PM haha, I have a story about pizza places. A few years ago, my brother, dad, and myself were eating pizza in a small pizza place on the east side of Yonge St. We were located towards the northern portion of the Eaton Centre. We sat down at the window seats so we could have a view of the street "action." Boy, did we get more than we bargained for. Within a few minutes a small Pizza Pizza delivery car drives by, honks its horn, and the driver proceeds to direct his middle finger towards the establishment we were eating in. LOL, it was hilarious at the time. I guess he hates free market competition. Hogtown May 3rd, 2005, 04:43 AM Amato's John's Classic Papa Ceo's Cora's Pizza Ahhh, Cora's and Papa Ceo's, the best cure for munchies at 5am, although their pizza seems old sometimes... one of my favourites is Pizzaiollo down on queen, about half a block west of bathurst. Try "the godfather", you will not be disappointed! CrazyCanuck May 3rd, 2005, 07:12 AM Cora's is pretty good, and I thought it wasn't that popular, I was way off. dtx03 May 3rd, 2005, 08:21 AM "one of my favourites is Pizzaiollo down on queen, about half a block west of bathurst. Jaye101 May 6th, 2005, 05:19 AM I wud have to say PIZZA PIZZA!!!! neilio May 6th, 2005, 04:42 PM 2-4-1 is the crappiest pizza i hate it...pizza hut is the best!!! especialy the pizza hut buffet its %$#%&@ awsome! neilio May 6th, 2005, 04:43 PM when i was at my uncles in Chicago last he bought me a crap load of deepdish pizza..Its so amazing!! Mechie May 6th, 2005, 07:46 PM why would anyone mention pizza pizza or anything in answer to this question? people obviously knwo about the big chains. we want to know about the smaller lesser known ones. Roch5220 May 6th, 2005, 09:38 PM i tend to prefer the basic cheese and sauce think pizzas you find at most italian restaurants, but when I go slumming it for regular pizza, I tend to like Boston Pizza, and Pizza Pizza. I've also liked the Pizza Panzorotti chain store on Yonge, just south of Welsley as they made really good Panzorotti (not the crap that the rest of the franchises sell), but l believe they closed down a year or so ago. salvius May 6th, 2005, 09:51 PM magic oven by far. Amatos is not even close. How could I forget Magic Oven. Thinking of that place makes me salivate. A bit pricey though. samsonyuen May 6th, 2005, 09:54 PM Oxey's used to be good, at College, just east of Bathurst. Amato's is the place I bring all newcomers to the city. Best variety and quality (usually). 2-4-1, 3 for 1, and Pizza Nova are amongst the worst. I hate Mamma's Pizza, even though my friends love it. It's just a big pile of grease. Roch5220 May 6th, 2005, 09:57 PM That reminds me. Mothers pizza was the best. That salad bar was fantastic. To bad it went under. The 'Sauga May 7th, 2005, 12:08 AM There's one in the new Vaughn Mills Mall called Vanieri's or something like that. Quite good. I'm not sure if there's another one in Toronto? Also, I've tried the deep-pan pizza at Gino's East in Chicago where the pizza is like 2 inches think. It cost $30 but hell it was worth it. Boy was I stuffed after. Try "the godfather", you will not be disappointed! The godfather will make you shit your pants. Don't get me wrong, the pizza's great if you haven't eaten for a couple of days but lordy, they put way too much cheese on their slices. Yikes! samsonyuen May 7th, 2005, 09:01 AM I remember Mothers... The 'Sauga, do you mean Mrs. Vanelli's, which is almost all food courts in Southern Ontario? There used to be a branch of the Chicago deepdish pizza chain Uno's in Toronto, but I never liked it, even at the first Uno in Chicago. rapideye95 May 7th, 2005, 10:44 AM IL PAESANO>>>>IL PAESANO>>>>>>>IL PAESANO #1 #1 Roch5220 May 8th, 2005, 04:50 AM but I never liked it, even at the first Uno in Chicago. I eat Unos basically every 2 months. Theres one 11 streets and 2 aves from me. Its decent for a chain, its a lot better than Pizza Hut, which I like as well (well, I think the combos for 2-3 people are good value). The crust at Unos is pretty good. I really hate Papa Johns. I tasted it in the Cayman Islands, and the ingrediants was too fresh that it made the pizza sooggy. I refuse to try it in the US, why waste a meal there. oakland_PA May 31st, 2005, 07:36 PM I liked the private pizza places most, tho they're not as clean as the franchises(if they are clean at all) current March 7th, 2011, 02:34 AM Pizza Gigi is open again. National Post article: Hallelujah! Pizza Gigi Back After Police Raid Peter Kuitenbrouwer March 3, 2011 – 7:32 pm Hallelujah — the Annex (and points west, such as our house) can eat again. Pizza Gigi, a fixture on Harbord Street since 1973, unceremoniously shuttered after a police raid on Feb. 13. Police arrested the founder and owner, Salvatore Crimi, 57, charging him with 15 counts, including possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, and trafficking. A news release said, “police seized a quantity of marijuana, valued at $1 million, 1/2 ounce of crack cocaine, Oxycocet, Oxycontin, MDMA and $8,000 in cash.” On Thursday Mr. Crimi was back behind the counter, smiling, looking none the worse for wear. “The police, they made a mess,” he said. “They break all the ceiling. They were looking for something. We decided we might as well renovate a little bit.” So they put new drywall on the ceiling, repainted the walls and put in a new front door.” After Gigi’s closed I received an email from a worried mother on the parent council at Central Technical Institute, just across Harbord, concerned that the pizzeria was supplying something other than slices to their kids. “They blame everything on me,” Mr. Crimi said. “I don’t sell drugs to kids. I never sell drugs to kids. They are just bullsh—ing.” I let that hang a bit and had to ask, “So do you sell drugs to anyone?” “I don’t sell drugs at all.” He declined further comment on the charges.... I'm wondering, does Pizzeria Libretto really deserve all the hype its been getting in some media? I gotta go check it out finally. Epi March 10th, 2011, 07:24 PM Cora's is my midnight go to place (rats and all)... they are one of the very few places that use good cheese, the kind you would find in Italy at least IMO. The best has got to be Pizza Libretto though. Just awesome, awesome pizza. Funny story about Dante's in Thornhill... I have a friend who used to live behind there, and one night there was a limo parked behind it that BLEW UP at 2am. Nuff said. They do make an awesome (if expensive) pizza.
