Saturday Night Special: continuing urban diversions theme ... others will know much more abt this, so i'll just kick it off with three famous melbourne venues:

starting, of course with 'The Espy', Esplanade Hotel (1878) Upper Esplanade St Kilda, home of
Paul kelly, Angels, appearances by
people such as Nick Cave etc.etc.etc.

this was Fred Negro's wall board for his appearance with the band
of that name, and many others. I missed Taj Mahal in April:

adding...Beaconsfield Hotel St Kilda handsome, historic, heritage- listed venue whose Perth-based owner, however, has some rather serious problems atm with the David Hookes inquest coming up, compounded by VCAT mediation/possible hearing listed next week over local residents claims that it has been exceeding planning permit (rather then liquor licence) hours for years:

Piles of 'em out there: see crowds lining up to get into the Queensbridge Hotel ('QBH) in our Southbank skyscraper precinct: pics will be rare i suspect, but let's know what's good. Bronte

he probably called it that because we have a suburb here called Beaconsfield (my dad lives there actually)
