Can any cool nice people please please go to Little Genting and take a good picture of night KL skyline on Merdeka night?

I saw the one last year it was fabulous with all the lights on and spotlight and stuff, sadly the quality wasn't sharp enough, otherwise we, Malaysia, will beat many in the contest of the best night skyline~

MOTORISTS driving along the Federal Highway can catch a glimpse of Malaysia's past and present Prime Ministers through a display of lights and colour on Menara Telekom.

Telekom Malaysia remembers the country's leaders via a giant slide show displayed on its 77-storey building in Jalan Pantai Baru in conjunction with the 47th National Day celebrations.

The show, themed 'Telekom Malaysia's Merdeka Glory (Gemilang Kemerdekaan Telekom Malaysia), is a giant slide projection using high impact display and state-of-the-art intelligent lighting projection system.

The sophisticated technology show, from 7pm to midnight daily, features the five Prime Ministers against a backdrop of Menara Telekom.

With the images, Telekom Malaysia hopes to instil the spirit of Merdeka in Malaysians.

The slide show will be interspersed with product offerings from Telekom Malaysia group such as Celcom services, tmnet, streamyx, Ring Ring Card and i-Talk Card that will be in rotations of 24 images per show.

The intelligent lighting projection system is the first of its kind in the country. The projection equipment is stationed 300m in front of Menara Telekom at a height of 30m.

Consultants from Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom are on hand to supervise the show.

The projection began on Aug 24 and ends on Sept 24.



First Prime Minister - Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (1957 - 1970)



TUNKU Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj was named the country's first Prime Minister after the country gained independence from the British rulers on Aug 31, 1957.

He is often called Father of Independence (Bapa Kemerdekaan) or Father of Malaysia (Bapa Malaysia) for it was during his leadership as Umno president that efforts for independence bore fruit.

During his tenure as Prime Minister, Malaysia was formed in 1963 with Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore.

He served as a magistrate and later president of the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur after being called to the Bar in 1949.

Tunku signed the Independence of Malaya agreement with the British on Feb 8, 1956.

Tunku was born on Feb 8, a royal prince, the son of Sultan of Kedah Sultan Abdul Hamid Halimshah.

He resigned as Prime Minister in 1970 and died on Dec 6, 1990.



Second Prime Minister - Tun Abdul Razak Hussein (1970 -1976)



TUN Abdul Razak, the father of current Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, introduced the National Education Policy and formulated the development policy known as The Red Book.

Known as the Father of Development for his contributions to national and rural development, Tun Abdul Razak is also renowned for the New Economic Policy that was launched in 1971.

Tun Abdul Razak was instrumental in the formation of Barisan Nasional.

He was born in Kampung Pulau Keladi in Pekan on March 11, 1922.

Tun Abdul Razak died in office on Jan 14, 1976.



Third Prime Minister - Tun Hussein Onn (1976 - 1981)



TUN Hussein Onn, the Father of Unity, is known for his efforts in promoting goodwill among the various communities.

The son of Umno founding father Datuk Onn Jaafar, Tun Hussein got his early education in Singapore and English College in Johor Baru and later studied law in London, qualifying as a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn. He returned to practise law in Kuala Lumpur.

He became the first Umno Youth chief and in 1950, he was elected secretary-general but in 1951, he left Umno to set up Independence of Malaya Party with his father.

Upon Tun Abdul Razak's persuasion, Tun Hussein Onn rejoined Umno in 1968.

On Jan 15, 1976 after Tun Abdul Razak, died, he was appointed Prime Minister.

Due to health reasons, he retired as Prime Minister in July 1981.

He died on May 29, 1990 at the age of 68.

Fourth Prime Minister - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (1981 - 2003)



THE fourth and longest serving Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir is well remembered for his visionary goals in bringing modernisation and technology to the country's forefront.

Born in Alor Star, Kedah on July 10, 1925, Tun Dr Mahathir studied medicine at the King Edward VII College of Medicine in Singapore.

He joined the Malaysian government service as a medical officer, leaving to set up his own practice in 1957.

Tun Dr Mahathir is known as Father of Modernisation (Bapa Kemodenan) and some of his achievements include modern-day monuments like the Petronas Twin Towers, KL International Airport and Putrajaya.

Soon after taking on the post of Prime Minister, he instituted the Look East Policy - to bring in the assiduous work ethics of Japan and South Korea.

He is married to Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and they have seven children - Marina, Mirzan, Melinda, Mokhzani, Mukhriz, Maizura and Mazhar.



Fifth and current Prime Minister - Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi



DATUK Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi succeeded Tun Dr Mahathir on Oct 31, 2003.

Born on Nov 26, 1939 in Penang, he is the MP for Kepala Batas and is fondly known as “Pak Lah'' among the people.

He received a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies from Universiti Malaya in 1964.

In the 2004 general election, he delivered a stunning victory for the Barisan Nasional, winning more than 90% of all parliamentary seats.

Since coming into power, he has come down hard on corruption and has made it easier for the public to reveal corrupt practices to the authorities.

He is the chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) since he became Prime Minister.

Abdullah is married to Datin Paduka Seri Endon Mahmood and they have two children - Kamaluddin and Nori.

Nvm..the thread u opened was in the world forum :)

Komtar ah like normal loh..nothing special!!!! But what is special in Penang is they closed the penang bridge for 10 mins, clebrate National day on the bridge..cool..ah too bad i'm not on the bridge, if not can take night pic with nice skyline + firework!!! :) :) :D

This year's Merdeka eve is quite hazy so no nice-nice panos.

I'll see if the weather improvises in the next few days then I'll go there to take pics again ;)

Anyway these are taken from one of the nearest suburb to town where there are some apartment buildings where I go up to the stairways and took these shots.

The lights at the Petronas Twin Towers are dimmed by midnight for the fireworks display as it doesn't wanna be distraction ;)

I was watching the fireworks in ikano on that night with my gf, though... The display there went on for 20 minutes, longer than the one after the 2002 World Cup final! Any1 got pix of the ikano fireworks?

I took these pictures from a Miharja Apartment in Cheras. ;)

There has always been fireworks for new years eve in KL since like a decade ago.

Usually the fireworks are at:

- KLCC
- Bukit Bintang
- Sunway Lagoon

These are the venues that sometimes have and at times not:
- 1 Utama
- Genting Highlands
- Bangsar
- Dataran Merdeka
- Putrajaya

I took it form the 11th floor. There are no buildings blocking the apartments so the view is fantastic :okay:

Going to Little Genting would be futile as the sky is kinda hazy and the road up there by 11+pm woulf be clogged up......so no pictures from there ;)
