Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance has announced that construction work on the Gulf state's iconic World Trade Centre tower has started and is expected to take two years to build. The 50-storey tower comprises 42 levels of office space, a business club, a podium of four floors for conferences, four basement car parking and services and a sphere structure, housing a multi-purpose auditorium. The total built up area is approximately 142,000 square meters.

I dont like it that much either. Im hoping that it will actually turn out better than the render though! Only time will tell :lol:

I hope that it will it snuggle between the great masterpeices of the Palms, Bidaa, Tornado, and Burj Qatar.

The building looks like it`s only 150m tall.
I think it will look different in reality.

it has this "fish" style which i'm not a fan of ... they haven't put much effort into the design like the other towers in Doha ... it could look better in reality, 300 is really tall :)

+1 O totally agree with you, but most towers in Doha dont have a good render, but the finished product looks much better in reality.

it looks so small because its massive and not just tall. i kinda like the design but have to agree on the render. I believe with the right cladding it will look amazing

I agree that the colours and that round thing (helipad) at the top aren't exactly top-notch design-wise. And for a 55fl building with a short spire to be a supertall the floors would need to be pretty high, around 5m or more.

Not as high as i expected but lets wait and see how tall in reality it would be. But to be honest, i don't like its color.

When I think WTC I like office building. This makes me think, what the hell was they thinking.

I know its horrendous, but lets hope the final product turns out good. The bad thing is its right in front of Burj Qatar and Palm Towers, and Tornado Tower :( Its surrouded by masterpeices!

And that just might be the missing brick in elevating this towers status from ugly to acceptable :)

Yeah, all the other towers around are really nice. Don't forget Qatar Islamic Bank Tower which is rising! What I do like about this is it will anchor the dynamic skyscraper complex there and create a focal point. Granted it could have been better, but in the end I think compliment the complex perfectly. :cheers:

By the way, the base of the building is HUGE!!!!!!! When it grows it will really have a visible impact in the skyline!

people you've seen a small render of a building, i dont think that your opinion of the way that the building looks is very accurate, go to Doha a see it for real

Wow, Its amazing one. It Construction works in Qatar tower of the World Trade Center, Creative began in Doha and is expected to take two years to build. This was announced today at a press conference during the signing of the construction contract between the owner of the project. It is really great.

Looks like they decided to make it a little less tacky than the original rendering.

It seemed a little surprising at first that they would build something like that-Doha's skyscrapers are usually so tasteful.
btw- What is that building nearby that is rising? I recognize it from somewhere, but I thought it was on-hold.
