Your buildings abandon for many reasons.
First, see why they are doing it. It will tel you the reason when you query it. If its residential, they could have moved out because of the commute time, if thats the case you have too many people living in one area, with inadequate transportation to work areas. Try adding major avenues, bus stops and if your budget allows it, a metro. That should help the commute time. Normally when I put in dense residential I have an avenue every ten tiles, and lots of bus stops... (bare in mind residential skyscrapers average around 1500 sims each, so 1 bus stop and a normal road wouldnt work in a cluster of 10 residentail skyscrapers)
Or, the demand for that type simply could have dropped, thats why it is abandoning. Or, they might not be watered.
If you do have lots of avenues, then theyre not working. Before you lay down dense buildings, plan them out. Plan a route and the area, make sure parts of the city will still be accessable without waiting in a non moving car for 2 hours every commute. When I zone clusters of residential high-rises, I usually name them as projects... Like in NYC. I plan everything out before I do it.
Hope that helps
