Limuru is really stunning!

I can see why the British settled there during the scramble for Africa. It has got an English country side feel to it aesthetically and the weather is close to it as well (not in the winter thou!)

The colder the weather, the more they settled (especially in the former white highlands).

hmm, Limuru was a forest before the british settled there. Its an amazinglu beautiful place but the fact that preety much all the cultivated and residential land there used to be a forest leaves a bitter taste. Hope we will one day get to re-plant the trees somewhere else.

This is one of the farms that kinda acts like a tourist hotspot within Limuru. This is Kenya's oldest tea farm. At least one gets to learn more about tea production and enjoy a nice weekend lunch while enjoying the countryside air.

what kind of crop is this?

I was thinking it looked like an oilseed rape farm. Its used for making soaps and other cosmetic products and some farmers use it as a break crop between planting wheat which is commonly grown around Nanyuki.

Below is a similar farm in Denmark.

Thats the clarification i needed before invoking my two cents. Its unlikely to be Chinga dam because Chinga dam does not have a concrete dam and if you look closely there is one in the photo. The landscape also does not resemble what i have see there.

I'm faithful to this thread !

Well, Central Kenya has two major forested areas. The Mt. Kenya forest and the Aberdare forest. Both surrounding the two major mountains in the region. There are numerous other smaller forests though scattered due to the regions high population density.

The Aberdare forest.

I'm not so well versed on the tree planting programs around the country. But there are plenty of initiatives to increase the country's forest cover.

I was reading about big flood in Kenia. Do you know the effect of this flood ? What you think, this great flood is effect of big deforestation during by last half century ?

Best regards for all you !

Deforestation wasn't the cause of the flooding, but it certainly amplifies the problem.
