^^ This is a university the Dominican government is building in Cap Haitien as a gift and sign of solidarity with Haiti.

The presentation was done in the Dominican Republic's National Palace in Santo Domingo.

The university is going to be inaugurated in June 2012.

República Dominicana entrega universidad a Haití

Como parte de los actos de recordación a las más de 300,000 víctimas mortales que dejó el terremoto del 12 de enero de 2010 en Haití, y en ocasión del segundo aniversario de esa catástrofe, el Gobierno dominicano entregará las instalaciones, totalmente nuevas, de la Universidad Henri Christophe, en la comunidad de Limonade, en Cabo Haitiano.

Para la ocasión, el Presidente dominicano Leonel Fernández y su homólogo haitiano Michel Martelly encabezarán el acto inaugural, y posteriormente el primero se trasladará a Puerto Príncipe, donde dejará abierta la nueva sede de la embajada dominicana en el vecino Estado.

Las edificaciones de la nueva universidad fueron construidas a un costo de 30 millones de dólares, mientras que los trabajos de remodelación de la embajada costaron 2.5 millones de pesos.

El Jefe de Estado dominicano, en compañía de la Primera Dama Margarita Cedeño de Fernández y de funcionarios gubernamentales, entregará al pueblo haitiano la moderna casa de estudios donada por República Dominicana, como parte de la recuperación de Haití tras el desolador sismo de hace dos años.

Las edificaciones de la universidad Henri Cristophe serán entregadas exactamente a la misma hora en que se produjo el terremoto del 12 de enero de 2010, como un recuerdo a las personas que perecieron en la tragedia, que marcó un antes y un después en la historia de esa nación.

El centro educativo consta de cuatro edificios que totalizan 72 aulas espaciosas, con capacidad para 30 estudiantes cada una. Otro edificio está destinado a las áreas de laboratorios, donde los educandos recibirán enseñanzas de informática; química, física, biología y turismo.
