View Full Version : The Canadian Empire?

No, no news source. However, recently the Turks and Caicos Islands popped in my head and I tought "If Canada became an empire what should be Canadian and would there be support with nations or reginos wanting to join?"

But anyways, if Canada ever did become an empire what should and shouldn't be Canadian?

My vote?:

Turks and Caicos Islands
St. Pierre and Miquelon
Cuba
New England and Alaska (without Palin)
Haiti
Siberia
Greenland
Venezuela.

it's just supposed to be a fun little thread :p It's just supposed to be personal views what you think Canada should be like if it was an Empire.

Just the words: "Canadian Empire" really sets me off into a fit of helpless giggles!

Does that mean we would have an Emperor Steve and his lovely and talented wifey Empress Lorraine?

We should probably borrow Harry or someone from the Brits and elevate him to master of the Canadian Imperium.

First task is obviously spend several gazillion dollars building an enormous new imperial residence:

Thanks for the laugh Demon. I think we'll be lucky to hang onto what we already have over the long term.

Okay, I say let's start slowly and eventually take over the world. Our project for the next generation will be to completely colonize Hans Island, replete with a condo( 80 storeys with an EXTREMELY small floorplate of about 100 square feet and just a ladder outside for access), a proper flagpole with MASSIVE Canadian flag, a small Customs and Excise House in case the Danish want to come and visit what they wish were theirs, and a Tim Horton's Paddle Thru. A rough calculation indicates this could be a reality somewhere around 2030. Then possibly we might concentrate on getting the Alaskan panhandle back from those pesky Americans. Somewhere around 2111 we can start thinking about a smash and grab of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. One thing at a time.....

With regards to tropical islands, never colonize one with little or no sources of fresh water. There are reasons why some places want to be colonized, and they involve finances..

Yes, let's take on all the sparsely populated hinterlands and post-communist states! What a massive empire we'll build with the bits of Earth the other empires don't want!

We could become the Value Village of Colonization!

I've never actually heard of anyone suggest we colonize Haiti before... something new every day!
I think New England would put up a bit of a fight. They did last time! ;)

I got it! Here's my story:

Okay...: It's 2014 and Emperor Demon (Me :D) is in charge and takes up the topic of taking vote for a union with Turks and Caicos to join Canadian Confederation. The Great Vote wins with a landslide of 82% in favour. Soon the former West Indies Federation takes up joining Canada in 2016, Emperor Demon agrees to a vote and the vote wins with 63.7% in favour. Canada owns half of the Carribean. The Emperor implants the Canadian Development Colonization Plan (CDCP) and is voted in favour in 2019. Canada has offical permission to take over Haiti and Belize by promising higher living standards, better healthcare and more employment. Canada becomes world's 3rd largest exporter (behind Germany & China) and becomes the world's strongest naval nation by 2022. Emperor T. Better becomes the new Emperor of Canada. The Canadian Tropical Territories want to become one big province.

Now It's 2023, decide what to do. :D

Behead Emperor Demon and restore Sanity to Canadia.

I've been saying that for the past four years!!!

"But in the middle of the biggest decision of Emperor Demon's Royal Career, just before he reached his hand out to press the red button, his mother stepped in and ordered him up to bed
as tomorrow is a school day, thus preventing another potentially explosive Bay of Pigs episode".

The only 'nations' Canada could ever hope to see in this century are the Turks and Caicos Islands, and Haiti. They are the only ones that MIGHT come willing, and the only ones that would make any sense whatsoever.

Turks and Caicos maybe, but not Haiti.

Haiti because they have no stable government. They speak French. They are a North American country. They have a significant population in Canada. Canada sent substantial amounts of money and man power to assist them, and Canada has the ability to help them further. To decline would simply be unwise, and the nation will continue in shambles.

No not really. But it doesn't have to. And perhaps one day it will.
But it would add 10 million people to our population. Plenty of young workers to replace our awful number of elderly retirees. That way we can keep our Cpp, and not have to work for three life times.

In fact, just the opposite. We've already provided a huge, huge amount of financial aid.

You know guys, just because we're bigger & more powerful than and have good relations with places like Cuba and Haiti doesn't mean they want to join us...thats the same mentality some of our American friends have when it comes to the Canada as "51st state" issue. Not going to happen.

Turks & Caicos is probably the only country where most people want to join Canada (and where most Canadians would be happy to have them as well).

It wouldn't really benefit us, though.

I think any country from where another nation can instantly reap benefits is obviously off the table since that said country would probably be courted (i.e. invaded) by more militarily powerful nations (i.e. the US) before Canada even gets a chance.

So yes ... realistically, the only places that Canada can annex is probably Turks and Caicos and some random barren wastelands that Russia does not want. Or maybe we can incite some sort of revolution within Greenland in order to liberate them from the cruel Danes.

Turks and Caicos lacks fresh water. They are looking for a sugar daddy. Of what possible benefit would it be for us to pay for islands when in this day and age we can visit any islands we choose?
Once you become Fearless Leader after the Revolution, Canadian Demon, how many people are on your list to be saved? :D

The T&C Islands would be free.
It's their decision and Canada's to enter an agreement.

I would be curious to hear Haitians opinion on the matter of territorial or provincial status within Canada.

Why would an independent nation, such as Haiti, want to reduce their sovereignty and compromise themselves by joining Canada as a province? I'm sure the Haitians would much prefer an autonomous existence.

I don't know, would they?
I would just be curious to see the percentage that would be against it, and for it. For all I know 1% would be in favour. I just figure, Canada could benefit the nation greatly, as apposed to their failed attempts at governments and 'going nowhere' style economics.

Yes they have autonomy! Who would want to trade that away for peace, order, good government and food?

Now how about cutting out the BS? Haitians were far better off under slavery.

So, basically, Haitians should join Canada because they can't govern themselves?
