I know we have one called Little Cities and Towns in the Prairie by our friend Yellow Fever.
This is for Alberta and mainly Fort Mac mostly.

FORT MCMURRAY ALBERTA
http://www.meritfortmcmurray.com/images/fortmcmurray-LG.jpg

Population of Urban area : 105,000 people
Location : 435 Km North East of Edmonton on Highway 63 and 60 Km West of the Saskatchewan border.

Fort McMurray has a borderline humid continental climate (Koppen climate classification Dfb, just above a subarctic climate), with long, very cold winters and fairly warm but short summers. The town lies at a lower elevation than most other parts of Alberta, so under the right conditions it can be a 'hot spot' for Alberta or even all of Canada. It has reached +37c or + 98F in August before and it has also dipped to -51C in February as well.
Fort McMurray is considered the heart of one of Alberta's (and Canada's) major hubs of oil production, located near the Athabasca Oil Sands. Besides the oil sands, the economy also relies on natural gas and oil pipelines, forestry and tourism. The two largest oil sand mining companies are Syncrude and Suncor Energy.

Fort McMurray experienced an average annual growth rate of 9.9% between 1999 and 2007.[15] Forecasts from the R.M. of Wood Buffalo's Strategic Planning and Policy Division project that it will reach a population of 100,000 by 2012.

Crown land for sale in Fort McMurray
135 acres expected to transform into new community with 8,000 homes, 24,000 residents

BY KEITH GEREIN, EDMONTONJOURNAL.COM JANUARY 14, 2011

EDMONTON — The provincial government has put a For Sale sign on several parcels of Crown land that will serve as the beginnings of a giant new housing development in Fort McMurray.

The highly anticipated Parsons Creek community is little more than a patch of trees and brush overlooking the Athabasca River. But within two years, the province expects it to be a hub of construction activity that will see 8,000 new homes built to accommodate 24,000 residents.

Land sales for the community were not expected to begin until around 2012, but the province decided to accelerate the schedule by a year in part due to high housing demand, said Dan Laville, spokesman for Alberta Housing and Urban Affairs. Improvements in the Alberta economy are expected to lead to further oilsands expansion, which will bring more workers to town.

I applied for a job with Suncor up in Fort McMurray. I don't live in Canada but I hope they consider my application.

Also I am disappointed the Keystone XL pipeline was rejected. I work at a refinery in Texas and I was looking forward to seeing us receive more Canadian crude.

I hope to see more pictures posted please!
