Rustavi city has new mayor

Rustavi city has a new mayor – Zakro Darchiashvili has been unanimously elected on the position by the city assembly today.
The position of the mayor became vacant after the previous mayor, Mamuka Chikovani was promoted to the deputy governor of the Kvemo Kartli Region.
Chikovani chaired the Rustavi municipality for past two years. His work was assessed as very productive for implementing numerous infrastructure projects.

Premiere of Renny Harlin’s film 5 Days of August will be held at the Valencia film festival today .
The festival will be attended by Papuna Davitaia, Minister of Diaspora Issues of Georgia, film maker Renny Harlin, musician Nika Memanishvili and singer Sofo Nizharadze.
The movie is about the 2008 Georgia-Russia conflict. Hollywood stars Andy Garsia, Dean Cain, Rupert Friend, Val Kilmer and others play roles in the film.

Renny Harlin`s movie on the Georgia-Russia August war in 2008 has closed the Valencia international movie festival on Thursday. `The most emotional picture, which describes real events,` the spectators were commenting after the show.
They said the people will be able to see what really happened in August in Georgia by watching the Five Days of August.
The director Renny Harlin said he dedicated the first night show to the memory of the late president of Poland Lech Kaczynski. He said Mr. Kaczynski was one of those European leaders, who arrived in Georgia in the hardest days of the country`s recent history and stool beside Georgian people then. The film makers say the movie will be successful around the world.
Five Days of August will emerge in Georgia`s cinemas in June.

Энди Гарсия исполнил роль президента Грузии в фильме "5 дней в августе" ФОТОГАЛЕРЕЯ

Международный фестиваль приключенческих фильмов в Валенсии завершился 14 апреля показом «5 дней в августе» о грузино-российской войне 2008 года режиссера Ренни Харлина.

Как сказал журналистам присутствовавший на показе киноленты госминистр Грузии по вопросам диаспоры Папуна Давитая, благодаря этому фильму весь мир узнает о Грузии, о многих фактах, о культуре, о традициях, но самое главное о том, что произошло в 2008 году.

По его словам, у этого фильма безусловно будет успех, о чем свидетельствует реакция зрителей при его просмотре.

В Грузии премьера фильма состоится в июне нынешнего года, фильм будет показан на больших экранах почти в 50 странах мира.

Роли в фильме исполняют известные зарубежные актеры, среди которых, Энди Гарсия, Вэл Килмер, Дин Кейн. Энди Гарсия исполняет роль президента Михеила Саакашвили.

Съёмки фильма начались в Грузии в 2009 году. Часть съемок проходила и в президентском дворце в Тбилиси. В съемках батальных сцен использовалась тяжелая военная техника и авиация, включая танки.

Между тем, по заявлению режиссера Харлина, фильм не направлен против кого-то, он рассказывает об ужасах войны, и является антивоенным.

В ночь на вторник замерзло Тбилисское море.

Соответствующие структуры мэрии Тбилиси всю ночь работали в усиленном режиме из-за нового снегопада, который обрушился на столицу Грузии. По данным мэрии, на дороги Тбилиси постоянно посыпается техническая соль.

Следует отметить, что по прогнозам синоптиков, снегопады и морозы до минус 8 градусов в Тбилиси сохранятся до конца недели. Исходя из этого городские службы очистки переведены на чрезвычайное положение.

Эту зиму синоптики называют одной из самых снежных и холодных за последние десятилетия. В районе Мцхета даже замерзла река Кура, чего не наблюдалось в течение последних 30 лет.

Также замерзло Тбилисское море. Старожилы даже не помнят, когда это было в последнее время.

По всей Грузии морозы крепчают и синоптики заявляют, что в горных регионах Грузии холод достигнет - 18 градусов.

Traffic from Georgia to Russia blocked due to adverse weather
The traffic from Georgia to Russia has been blocked in connection as a result of adverse weather. The Georgian road department told Trend that snowfall is being observed on the Gudauri-Kobi and Stepantsminda-Lars sections, a road leading to the Lars checkpoint on the Georgian-Russian border of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway.

Movement of all kinds of vehicles has been prohibited because of the danger of avalanches and strong winds. As soon as there is no avalanche risk in this section, the snow-ploughs will clear the road. It should be stressed that there are a lot of cars in this section.
