I've always been a fan of the way an amusment park in or near a downtown area looks. What do you guys think?
(note, these aren't my pics, I found them online)

Six Flags Elitch Gardens in Denver

And it may not be in a downtown, but these coasters are so massive they almost count as skyscrapers themselves. Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.

I know there are quite a few more, especially small ones throughout Japan.

I feel bad for the people of Denver. Their planners could have done better than that! Why would someone put a theme park across the street from the CBD? It's like Phoenix did with the airport next to downtown, it doesn't make any sense at all.

actually, the new Elitch Gardens in Denver was built on the site of an old railway yard, completely rejuvinating that area of downtown.

Here is a cool one.

This is a shot of Expoland.Osaka's largest rolloercoaster park. There are 2 others in the city but this one is by far the biggest. There are over 9 different coasters.

This is the best shot I can find that shows a bit of urbaness to it.

Here you can see the Osaka monorail wind its way alongside the park. The monorail connects Osaka domestic airport to northeastern suburbs of the city.
