Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Motor Show 2011 is organized by Qatar Tourism Authority in partnership with Q-Media Events and GL events, organizers of Bologna Motorshow, will beheld at the Doha Exhibitions Centre on January 26 - 29, 2011

The Qatar Motor Show is the first of its kind event in Qatar and will be one of the most prestigious motor shows in the region. It will include:

1. Concept cars Pavilion from the most famous style Centers and
renowned International Car Designers
2. Super Cars, Latest passenger car models, commercial vehicles including
SUV’s and trucks.
3. A specialized area for spare parts, tires, batteries, electronic equipments,
garage equipment and all related accessories of the automotive industry.
4. Outdoor areas for dynamic activities to stage a full program of test drive
sessions and spectacular events.
5. In addition to the exhibition, Qatar Motor Show 2011 will feature the 1st
Middle East Automotive Summit which will host international renowned
executives from the industry to discuss the future of the automotive
industry.

Qatar Motor Show’s target is to stage a high profile car exhibition and position it straight on the international panorama of the top auto shows and aims to be in the calendar as one of the automotive key events in the world and a strategic appointment for the car market in the Middle East

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser looking at the new Volkswagen prototype XL1 which was unveiled at the Qatar Science and Technology Park in Doha yesterday. The ceremony was attended by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani and other dignitaries . Films about the Volkswagen Company and the technology provided to the XL 1 model were screened on the occasion. Before the ceremony, HH the Emir and HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser met with Prof Ferdinand Piech , the board chairman of Volkswagen Company.

Eight impressive creations from as many Italian car design masters were unveiled yesterday at a preview, setting the mood for the first international edition of the Qatar Motor Show, which begins at the Doha Exhibition Centre today.

Qatar eyes top slot among motor shows

Qatar Motor Show (QMS) will henceforth be an annual event occupying a major slot among the international auto shows, HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani announced yesterday.

He was addressing the opening ceremony of the first Middle East Automotive Summit, held as part of the first international edition of the QMS, opened yesterday evening by HE the Minister of Economy and Finance Yousef Hussein Kamal at Doha Exhibition Center.

“Qatar Motor Show shall highlight national efforts in various fields. This summit is proof for the success that co-operation between key international players and exchange of expertise could bring,” the Prime Minister said.
Qatar’s ambitions, drawn up under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, have no limits, he added.
Speaking earlier, Volkswagen Group chairman Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn stated there was a great need for mobility in countries, including China, India and Russia.

“The car of the future needs to be more efficient, intelligent and interconnected,” he predicted while revealing that by 2018, the Volkswagen Group wanted to be the leader in the automotive industry, in economic and ecological terms.

The Volkswagen Group aims to boost the share of electric vehicles in automobile deliveries to 3% by 2018.
“The Volkswagen Group intends to invest 51.6bn euros over the next five years,” Prof Dr Winterkorn said.

Describing Qatar Holding as a long-term supporter of Volkswagen, the chairman lauded the bold steps being taken by Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar University and Qatar Investment Authority for the country’s progress.

Qatar Automotive Gateway (Qatar Ag) chairman Ghanim bin Saad al-Saad asserted that the global transformation in auto industry was a good opportunity for Qatar to invest.
Qatar Ag was launched earlier this month in an initiative aimed at putting the country on the global automotive industry map.
The objective is to establish a multi-billion riyal cluster of units to design and manufacture key components in the country by 2020.
Initially Qatar Ag, will target investments in lithium-ion battery and aluminium component manufacturing.

“Electrical cars are expected to reach 40% of the automotive
market by 2020,” al-Saad said.
German state Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister David McAllister was of the view that Qatar’s investment in Volkswagen had increased the company’s stability on all fronts.

Lower Saxony, which holds more than 20% of Volkswagen’s shares, is the carmaker’s second biggest owner, while Qatar Holdings is the third largest shareholder with 17% stake.
