we're not jumping in joy for this developments. we're stating that having those businesses that will open will generate more jobs for davaoenos. what a real developments to us IMO is the effectiveness of our LGU. without their(LGU) support, malls and coffeshops and etc wont invest in this city. The LGU does work for that. Have you read the papers lately about the action of the city with regards to the drainage system?

And there is nothing wrong with people celebrating for such projects like coffee shops, malls, condos, subdivision as it generates jobs which means the world for those people.

If you care to read more on Davao threads, you will see all our attention goes to projects like 911, PSCC, City Social Programs, LGU recognition, Infra projects, Landmark legislations, and other major LGU projects as well as Private sector initiated ones.

tama! i guess he's not updated for such projects of davao. read more sir grahamuk. peace!

I agree with you, real progress should be something tangible that the people in the city benefits like an efficient public transport system and an adequate drainage system which is a government initiative.

I bet these will all come to fruition in time as long as the local leadership remains in focus on their mission to make the city of Davao retains its high quality of living.

^^ Speaking of condo.... daghan mga causasians makita naku naga transact sa mga condo exhibits dira sa mga malls. Why wouldn't we be happy of condos by the way? Dba people with lotsa money are gonna be living there? Market yan sa Davao dba..... kaya nga maraming nag invest ng malls kasi maraming taong may pera.

Investment = More Jobs = Progress

Malls, Condos, Hotels, Resorts etc... BRING IT ON!

i think para positive we could use instead "multiplier effect". it's when investments in a particular sector actually streams through the entire economy. although of course the multiplier effect is rather used on currency rather than describing investments. pero investments naman means money spent, right? so probably we could use the same.

Yes Starbucks well that should create what 10 jobs at most! Its a just a coffee shop that sells coffee!

its funny people here feel that having a new Mall having New Condo's is progress for the City, I on the otherhand would jump for joy in "Real" progress like new infrastructure like a new transport system thats what will really lift the city, not a New Coffee Shop or a New Mall. Dont get me wrong im very pro Davao and love to see the city progress, but progress in the right way. I heard they will develop Sta Anna Wharf that would be progress the place is a dump. How about new drainage so when it rains downtown does not flood, that will be "real" progress.

Sorry a new Mall a new coffee shop does not make me jump for Joy...

what are you talking ?? talking of progress, don't you know that Davao City spent almost billion in drainage system , if our LGU didn't thought of that 10 years ago maybe we will be suffering what other cities are now experiencing, but of course there are some areas that needs more improvement, but in totality i gave our LGU very good rating, for all we know Davao City is below sea level, 1 colummnist in a daily news quoted "a politician spent millions in fireworks for his political campaign but never thought of building a drainage system in his city", it's funny when the rain comes they do it in prayer or "sana di lalakas ang ulan" , so pathetic , god helps when you help yourself di ba?
A free 911 for the rich and poor residences, a state of the art Traffic Signalization System with weather system that can monitor if flood arises (which PAG-ASA don't have) a State of the Art Landfill , just a few LGU that abide with the Solid Waste Management Act that most LGU's should penalized for not acting on it but instead buying fireworks to celebrate New Year.
Now back to Malling and Coffee, we have the pleasure of sipping coffee in a well-known or homegrown coffeeshop ala al fresco somewhere in a homegrown or well-known mall as we celebrate the GOOD WORKS of our local government, thinking that how lucky we are from other cities, a lasting "fireworks"! and may we know how lucky your city is? :cheers:

^^ the real story is that starbucks really want to open a store in damosa but then d'land didnt approve the application of starbucks because of the building proposal of sb. yung sa sutherland sb naman i think the angkols will answer that.

depende na siguro sa taste ng mga tao. ayala technopod is from accendo, while ang topaz tower ay sa damosa land inc. both from anflocor pero merger lang yung sa accendo ng ayala.

I like this more than the abreeza technopod. But sometimes, rendering can be misleading, so nasa actual delivery na yan ng project. ;)

Damosa Complex is an exciting and ever growing project. Sayang we cant get a photo of the entire project or a shot of the complex for us to appreciate the entirety of the project. Coz what we have are photos of separate buildings. Pero ive visited the place before and it's really nice. I like it.

well... sa tinuod lang, bisag Damosa Gateway lang na development (dili nalang nato iapil ang SM Lanang ug Robinsons Lanang), isa ka tuig nga :banana: na ni sa ubang baryo kung didto ni na construct. pareha sa among baryo dri sa pequeno wa gyud mi amoa. :nuts: microtel, mcdonalds, brother's burger, yellow cab, dimsum diner, nccc choice, dencios, it parks, shopping and business centers, etc. my goodness na baryo ni, to think 7 km na ni gikan sa downtown!

When there are concerts og big events being held at Damosa, it is expected talaga na heavy ang traffic. I experienced one time na umabot ang pila ng mga sasakyan hanggang sa harap ng Carmelite Church. I hope the TMC group can fix this.

Seems like purely bpo ang building...no space for retail...if meron man, then it would have to be exclusive for those from concentrix and whichever company will lease out this building since gated facility ang area. the design is similar to any ayala technohubs or ayala bpo buildings in metro manila. strange that our abreeza technohub veered away from the usual ayala design.

Dako na diay improvement sa damosa, back 2007 na-interview ko sa link2support abi nko sa IT na ko maka change ng career gusto nko pero wala nko nagustuhan ang offer, lisod mubalhin og career path.
OT lang, unsa na diay nahitabo sa DELL @tj murag nawala naman cla?wala nko gidawat ilang offer busa wala pud ko kabalhin sa IT,..thx in advance,..

yes grabe na jud ang development sa Damosa. With the arrival of the nearby SM Lanang, Damosa will never be the same again. From a quiet, swampy place, to a bustling and highly developed city center.

Nice! I have friends who are currently working for SGV & Co.

All along i thought the building is solely dedicated for IT-enabled companies such as Call centers. But a premiere accounting company is a great addition to Damosa's corporate scene.

Sa Likod sa K7 kay Hotel Tropika lang man ang naa. they have a very spacious outdoor function/events area that is currently under construction...

i think wala na nang call center.. i just went there last saturday.

IMHO, Hotel Tropika is one of the most underrated and least known hotels in Davao.

Dili kaayo siya sikat but very classy and affordable iyang accomodations.

kulang lang cguro sa promotions labi na nga layo na sila sa downtown unlike sa ubang hotels nga naa jud sa downtown area kay dali ra makita.

Italian Pizzeria for Dabawenyos

AN AUTHENTIC Italian Pizzeria has opened its doors to Dabawenyos last Friday at the Damosa Gateway paving way to Italian cuisine as its best.

"We serve hot and healthy Italian pizzas that are freshly done with authentic Italian ingredients," said Massimo La Magna, over-all supervisor of Pizzeria Michelangelo.

He added that they serve only the healthiest pizza in town as they do not add lard to their dough and Italian pizza's are usually thin-crusted with special herbs, spices and vegetables.

Pizzeria Michelangelo offers authentic flavored pizza in an affordable price. The first in Davao City, Massimo said that they are checking out the market here.

Their best seller is the "Robertino" pizza that has the usual tomato and mozzarella cheese with farmers ham, bacon strips and with a twist, they add egg, arugula and parmesan cheese and extra virgin olive oil on top.

Now with three branches, two of which are in Cebu and more to open here as they see Davao City is growing fast.

With 30-40 seating capacity on weekdays, customers can also be serenaded by Italian music.

During weekends, Pizzeria Michelangelo can cater to sixty persons as they will be bringing more seats outside the pavilion for customers to enjoy good food and music.

They do not only serve pizzas in Pizzeria Michelangelo, unique Italian pasta and wines are also served to complete one's Italian experience.

"We would like to bring the taste of Florence and Naples food here that are loved by everybody and I would like to spread my culture to the Filipino people," La Magna said.

There will be three Italian chefs and four service crew manned by Rosefiel Baraquil, manager, and Bee Luciano, the general manager of Pizzeria Michelangelo.

MANILA, Philippines - If experiencing thrills by land, water, and air does not convince you to choose Davao for your next destination, then we do not know what will.

Davao never seems to run out of surprises. Every time we make a visit, there is something new and exciting to be experienced. Our recent visit proves this point. We made the mistake of thinking that we were going to revisit some familiar attractions here. We guessed wrongly. We were brought to unexpected Davao destinations and experienced even more its charm and its people.

Home in Davao was Microtel Davao, a charming 51-room hotel located within the popular Damosa Gateway Complex, home of the city’s favorite restaurants and bars. Microtel Davao has always earned our approval for its consistent display of quality, from its accommodations to its services.

Microtel Davao, like the city it is located in, is known for its fuss-free comfort, cleanliness, and security. We look forward to its American Chiropractic Association-approved healthy-for-the-back queen-sized beds every time we are there. Of course, it is the total Microtel experience that we find ourselves drifting toward to again and again.

“What Microtel Davao offers is also a peek into the greatness of Davao as a destination. Here we celebrate industry and leisure, business and social gatherings,” says area general manager for Mindanao Rocky Jorolan. “Many guests tell us that Davao’s charm is well represented in our hotel.”

Jorolan told us, “Stay in Microtel, then go out and enjoy Davao’s wonderful attractions.” We followed his advice and never regretted one bit.

First on our itinerary was Camp Sabros in Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur. The camp was a good two hours’ drive from Davao City. Along the way, we enjoyed quaint towns and lush greens. The road to Camp Sabros took us up a mountain, something which reminded us of Baguio, cool climate, abundant vegetation, and the like.

Upon reaching Kapatagan, we headed straight to the Sitio Barras checkpoint, where another road led us to the camp. It was a good decision for us to walk up to Sabros, as it afforded us the chance to enjoy the local scenery, the rolling hills, the mountains, and the never-ending plantations. Despite this rather calming activity, the hike proved that land adventure, no matter in what form, has its rewards.

At Camp Sabros, we lost no time in trying out its ziplines. Both the 380- and 400-meter ziplines are fantastic ways to, well, pass the time (not more than a minute, actually). Zip through the air while suspended by a harness and cable. The views while we were ziplining were breathtaking, literally.

We learned that this is a favorite destination of Davaoeños and visitors. We’re not surprised. The camp has everything, from picnic setups to cable lifts — further proof that Davao does not come up short in the pasyalan stakes.

The following day found us heading to the Davao River for its famous river rafting adventure. That meant over 12 kilometers of pure adrenalin rush as our group braved the rapids. Davao’s river guides are very thorough with safety procedures and paddling techniques. We confess to feeling intimidated by the sight of rapids and rafts engaging one another in watery fisticuffs. The guides showed us that there was nothing to fear as we rowed and roared to our hearts’ content. When we reached the end of the river, we understood why river rafting has become such an addicting adventure. How come we had not done this earlier in Davao?

Later than evening, we caught up with the Department of Tourism (Region XI) regional director Art Boncato Jr. at Damosa Gateway. Until our meeting, we never realized how advanced and active Davao is when it comes to playing host to its visitors.

Among the good news was the success of the “Visit Samal” months of March, April, and May. Samal is known as the “Island Garden City” with its magnificent beaches and resorts. Put together by the local government units and the private sector, “Visit Samal” roped in travelers to the island via innovative promotional passports.

There are inland tours being developed on the island, which is home of the Samal fruit bats. The bat colony flapped its way to the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest bat colony.

“We just hosted the first Philippine Dive Seafari. We brought in local and international macro-photographers, whose task was to focus on small underwater creatures. We are pushing Samal already as a dive site to the international market,” Boncato says.

He also reports that DOT Davao has launched its MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events) Desk as their way to promote Davao as a convention destination.

‘Many guests tell us that Davao’s charm is well represented in our hotel,’ says Microtel area general manager for Mindanao Rocky Jorolan, shown with DOT-Region XI director Art Boncato Jr.

“Part of that program is to give incentives to organizers who bring their conventions here. We are receiving private sector support to add to those incentives. It assists planners and organizers to succeed in their MICE programs in Davao. We help them prepare their bid books by supplying them with photos, videos, and data,” he says. “We have the convention areas and facilities when business time comes. We also have the leisure activities and places for attendees’ downtime.”

DOT Davao is also actively promoting Mount Apo, the country’s highest peak, as a nature destination. One event, the First International Mount Apo Boulder Face Challenge, was an endurance race that aimed to raise awareness on Mount Apo as a protected biodiversity site and ancestral domain.

Boncato is likewise excited about their food appreciation tours. There is the Tibolo Cultural Village which hosts breakfasts for visitors. He relates, “The highlight is their basket trade, weaving, and bamboo-cooked food. It’s breakfast facing the foot of Mount Apo.”

“We want to develop Davao as a culinary destination and promote local food. Our cuisine is distinct because of our island terrain. We have many fresh ingredients from the sea and the mountains. It helps that we rarely have typhoons in Davao, so we have an abundance of produce.”

He likewise rattles off DOT Davao’s thrilling offerings, from environmental to superior-quality tourism and security programs. All these, he informs us, aim to provide visitors with a safe and pleasant experience in Davao.

Truly spectacular news for everyone. We have long been convinced of Davao as an ideal destination. With bigger and brighter things to add to its already impressive offerings, we say Davao is just the tip of the iceberg. We wait in breathless anticipation.

pero mas gusto ko yung nasa rendering...

IMO also, the rendering looked more sophisticated with its choice of color.

pero basin lahi pud na characteristic ang portrayed sa actual depending on the final outcome.

sana they would design that rooftop to be seen from ground level para mas visually complementing. I find it more preferable than the mushroom-like roof of the existing adjacent building, IMO.
