Isan September 3rd, 2004, 11:40 AM http://files.photojerk.com/sybarite/sg/IMGP5350.JPG
I loved this
and where it was ??
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 11:44 AM Boat Quay.
The huge complex in the background is UE Square, otherwise called United Engineer's Square.
heirloom September 3rd, 2004, 12:38 PM thank you! ^_^
those apartments are rather expensive.. i think around the 1000 psf range
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 04:15 PM UE Square is one of the largest complexes in Singapore.
Offices, apartments and shopping centre.
Occupying 2 city blocks.
RafflesCity September 3rd, 2004, 04:51 PM OMG! :eek2:
I like that pic of UE Square! The contrast is amazing.
The PSA Building looks old. The shots of Liang Court and that building in Raffles Place are quite dramatic.
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 04:55 PM UE, by Kenzo Tange.
I was shocked by its sheer size the first time I saw it.
How tall is it?
RafflesCity September 3rd, 2004, 04:58 PM The Shell Building looks stunning at night with its top lighted up...
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 05:01 PM Which one is it?
heirloom September 3rd, 2004, 05:05 PM got shell building in my photos meh?
i wasn't very struck by ue square's size...
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 05:06 PM Shell House???? :?
It's part of UE, right?
heirloom September 3rd, 2004, 05:27 PM think so... maybe its the leftest one..
redstone September 3rd, 2004, 05:28 PM No.It's on the rightmost side, I think.
eyetoeye September 4th, 2004, 04:19 AM I remember the UE specifically because i can see it from my aunt's apartment by the river, and also, more significantly, because i had burnt my hand against a hot surface in the supermarket there...... grrrrr......
heirloom September 4th, 2004, 04:30 AM haha! what hot surface?!
eyetoeye September 4th, 2004, 10:30 AM Dunno. Kinda forgot....
RafflesCity September 4th, 2004, 12:27 PM Burn a hand yes, but burn your head?!
anyway the Shell logo can clearly be seen from the river at Clarke Quay. Not sure if UE Square and Shell House are related though. baqthier had a pic of it in one of his threads here.
babystan03 September 10th, 2004, 07:22 AM Seem like the name of this building is Hongkong flavoured......

eyetoeye September 10th, 2004, 09:07 AM Oh... yeah. I recognise that building... It's just across the road from my church...
babystan03 September 10th, 2004, 09:14 AM ^
Oh.....what a coincident.....
heirloom September 10th, 2004, 09:15 AM for greater coincidences, my mom is active in a non profit organisation headquartered there.
eyetoeye September 10th, 2004, 09:18 AM haha. Singapore is small.. what the heck....
babystan03 September 12th, 2004, 06:39 AM Eh, we ALWAYS manage to get off topic somehow, right!?:lol:
Ok loh....now we get back to the pictures loh...... I'm sure many knows where this is.....

eyetoeye September 13th, 2004, 07:56 AM Looks very familiar leh.... haha... is it in the marina bay area?? Dunno. I tend to be very blur about this kind of thing wan....
redstone September 13th, 2004, 09:20 AM Millennia!
babystan03 September 13th, 2004, 10:59 AM ^
This is the answer......(the previous picture was taken after this)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/ylstan03/City%20Landscapes/DSCN26441.jpg
eyetoeye September 14th, 2004, 08:13 AM So my very general guess was actually correct! Haha.... okaaaaaay......
RafflesCity September 14th, 2004, 01:52 PM Excellent pic of Millenia!
The facade looks inspiring and repulsive at the same time
heirloom September 14th, 2004, 02:00 PM huh... how come its repulsive?
RafflesCity September 14th, 2004, 02:03 PM hmmm..the monotony and almost barren look of it - endless holes over a huge surface, something about it seems to diminish the humanity of a building..heh!
eyetoeye September 15th, 2004, 08:54 AM It looks very nice to me. In fact, i find the facade nicer than the building itself. Somehow, i find the monotony so comforting....
hyacinthus December 7th, 2004, 03:13 AM The Oglivy Centre
http://img69.exs.cx/img69/5060/b1xoglivycentre1.jpg
heirloom December 7th, 2004, 07:13 AM wow.. that looks like its not in isngapore!
i guess the heavy building and the purple truck with chinese words make the picture look very shanghai-ish
eyetoeye December 7th, 2004, 07:16 AM http://files.photojerk.com/sybarite/sg/IMGP5106.JPG
For some reason, i've always likes this building, even though it's not the most fantastic about....
redstone December 7th, 2004, 07:16 AM I'm thinking of going inside, see what it's like......
Sadly it's the last remaining of its kind here...
heirloom December 7th, 2004, 07:22 AM maybe you like the sharp edges like the gateway?
eyetoeye December 7th, 2004, 07:26 AM I like the colours and the way the windows are like tiny pieces of fugu fish...
eyetoeye December 7th, 2004, 07:31 AM This is old, but:

redstone December 8th, 2004, 02:13 AM Even rarer would be the old design of the stations, before the big BP merger...
RafflesCity December 9th, 2004, 05:46 PM This is nice, lots of architectural styles and colours :)

hyacinthus December 26th, 2004, 02:57 PM I see improvements as I scroll down the photos... It's hard taking night pictures especially in a moving car. :)
It's The Paterson Edge for the last picture.

Pengui January 4th, 2005, 01:08 PM The first and second one have little overlap, and the first and last don't have the same angle nor zoom. I don't think you can make a good pano with it.
You can try downloading panorama factory, v1.3 is freeware. That's what I use. I don't like it, but it's the only one I found ^^
rark January 4th, 2005, 02:01 PM acutally i made one with another software
http://img138.exs.cx/img138/238/pano12jd.jpg

Leichestern January 19th, 2005, 12:40 PM This picture was taken along the Kallang River i think. I'am not really sure where this area is but I know that this area is very posh and it's very near the city.

Ahlipp replied so fast... yes. he's correct. Take 167 from Sembawang Station.
But, my friend drove me there. :) Along the way from Khatib to Sembawang, I saw many mosques and temples. ;) But, no time to take photos of them...

Walao...you are making me dizzy loh! Nice photos thou! :D
heirloom January 20th, 2005, 12:18 PM the picture i took doesnt capture what it was like on the day... the clouds were moving really quickly like running... it was like watching a cloud movie with the trees and buildings pretending to be a tv frame.
the bank of east asia building... is ugly. but i like the vertical stripes.
RafflesCity January 20th, 2005, 12:21 PM i saw clouds running rapidly over the CBD one evening at Clarke Quay..it was slightly rainy and windy too..quite spooky but cool ^^
heirloom January 20th, 2005, 12:30 PM the wind has been pretty strong lately.. i was steppping out of raffles city with a friend and we were practically blown off our feet by the wind! ok its a small exaggeration but our movements were significantly affected by the wind.. a leaf hit my back and it hurt! (not exaggerating)
RafflesCity January 20th, 2005, 12:31 PM in general, tall buildings can sometimes cause strong downward drafts
but in singapore, having lots of trees along the ground act as buffers
leaf? j/k
heirloom January 20th, 2005, 12:42 PM uhm the winds were really super strong... can push a person along. hard to believe but true.

@ hyacinthus, did you go to this food place when you ate that Japanese food?
yup... a bit weird... but, how? :)
u meant yesterday? I had soba on ice with Tempura at a Japanese restaurant in Paragon before going to Takashimaya. This food place is temporary. The Takashimaya Square is like an event hall... hosting events like watch exhibition, home linen fairs etc to food fairs like these depending on the festival. :)
SkylineTurbo January 31st, 2005, 04:41 AM So like an expo centre almost?
hyacinthus January 31st, 2005, 04:45 AM So like an expo centre almost?
yes... but at a much smaller scale... ;) Probably 1/9 of a soccer field?
SkylineTurbo January 31st, 2005, 04:49 AM Yes, that is small, fair enough if it only hosts minor events like watch exhibitions and home linen fairs, how old is it?
redstone January 31st, 2005, 04:55 AM It is an atrium in a shopping/office complex called Ngee Ann City, built in 1993. ;)
hyacinthus January 31st, 2005, 04:56 AM Yes, that is small, fair enough if it only hosts minor events like watch exhibitions and home linen fairs, how old is it?
You meant the building where Takashimaya is? It's call Ngee Ann City - Built in 1993, it offers various types of shops such as Harrods of London, Chanel, Cartel, Christian Dior, Guess? Levis', The Hour Glass, Takashimaya, a Cold Storage Supermarket and many types of restaurants. There are 2 office towers too...
Here's the link http://www.ngeeanncity.com.sg/
But, the website is not as cool as Dubai's Burjuman (correct spelling?)

was there recently, some parts of it still under renovation. there is a main central dining to this place(a band at centre stage, one for one alcohol till 9pm), this "high class"food court has about four other restaurant at the side, the one you see in the pic has alfreco dining not others, it serves a wide variety of food, italian, american...western stuffs mainly.
i like the reflection though...

Mr.ASAP October 7th, 2005, 06:59 PM was passing by Paya Lebar and took a shot of the post office :)
i like the architecture of this building, espcially the lifts rise up and down :) though it has a almost complete glass facade which is extremely hot :p
what do you guys think about it ? and i have been wondering will Paya Lebar be a Novena in the making ? as its going to be a circle line interchange and has plenty of green and open space for future developments, not forgetting the Singpost HQ and Cisco is located there :)

hyacinthus October 7th, 2005, 07:01 PM I would prefer Paya Lebar to have its own unique identity. It'll be boring to have clones of Novena.

This building is great, very reminiscent of London's Lloyds Building but in fact I think I prefer Singapore Post Office :-) Very impressive building. But I've always wondered what's in the hanging bridge-like part at the top on the other side of the building ^ ^

Sounds like a lot of exciting potential. What are the long-term planning objectives for Paya Lebar? I think there might be a height limit there though.
