Xusein January 30th, 2011, 08:14 AM Nice pics as always. :)
If truly given a chance, Sheekh can become a very great place. Mild climate with nice scenery.
musa90 January 30th, 2011, 01:44 PM Is this (http://aqoonkaab.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/sheikh.jpg?w=510&h=382) building a school or something?

Sheekh is one of the most serene and calming Somali towns I have seen blessed with lush natural beauty. I wouldn't mind building a cottage there in the future, or something more ambitious. I kinda understand now what lured the Emir of Kuwait to construct a palace there, it's lovely!
yosef February 20th, 2012, 01:41 AM Is it spelled Skiikh on that map? Had a hard time finding it there.
Very tranquil place though, reminds me a bit of the pics I seen of the highlands south of Addis although a bit more rugged
Xusein February 20th, 2012, 09:22 AM Constantine, compared to the furnace like climate of Berbera and the coast, Sheekh is a great place to escape from the heat. That is it's major appeal.
My father said that he used to go there on the weekends with his cousins when he was a kid. I was blessed to have the opportunity to visit it in 2003. :)

kool.
Didn't the Kuwaiti king also own a palace/holiday home in Mogadishu?
The Kuwaiti royals seem to love Somalia
A wealthy Yemeni fella also owns land there to grow crops I believe.
Sheikh is beautiful indeed but travelling on that road is hella scary:nuts:
musa90 February 22nd, 2012, 03:21 AM More Somali cities should be build in the highland regions, it's practically uninhabited for the most part. Most cities seem near lowland wadis or on the coast.
Diggerdog February 22nd, 2012, 03:48 AM Very adventurous and exotic looking mountain road - is it new-ish?
Constantine MMX February 22nd, 2012, 08:52 PM ^Majority of Somalia's paved road system was built in the 70s/80s, though there was most likely a rudimentary road already in place for some time.

Northie February 24th, 2013, 08:53 PM my father went to school at Sheikh Secondary school as a kid, he still has fond memories of the place. He remembers the weather being perfect not as hot as it is in the Nugaal valley. Ceerigabo and Shiekh from what I've heard has the nicest weather in the entire country.

Sheikh and Erigavo get a little bit too cold in the winter for my liking, especially Erigavo reaches freezing temperatures. But during the summer the weather is very nice  The nice thing about Ergavo is that the beach is very close by so you have the best of both worlds, cool and green landscape + turquoise blue sea and white beach 30mins drive
Northie February 24th, 2013, 10:06 PM juzme my dads side of the fams are reer Ceerigabo I always hear stories of the place. Unlike the south where u see towns that have mixed demographics Ceerigabo is truly a melting pot of coexisting people. Eventually when I move back to Somalia Im building my palatial estate in Erigabo lol
juzme123 February 24th, 2013, 10:39 PM ^^ I might be your neighbour

Sideway February 25th, 2013, 12:31 PM You know that school probably has the best architecture in the whole country.
eid February 26th, 2013, 01:41 AM Wow just amazing. That is definitely the best building in Somalia. We need more modern style buildings.
