well, good news, Iran advanced into the final match of the Asian senior men's championship after defeating South Korea 3-1.
I was in the stadium, more than 12,000 people had come. the Azadi stadium's volleyball hall has 12,000 seats but at least 13,000 people had come, and there were like ~5,000 women who supported the national team way better than the men. Iran will play against China tomorrow for the champion title.

No, I didn't watch the game, I was at the stadium watching Australia vs China and then Iran vs South Korea. but I think they earned it, finally at some point they must learn to act professionally instead of claiming that we got a professional premier league. and I don't blame only the federation for that, first of all we should blame the Sepahan managers for that.

I hope Iran wins the final tomorrow. if Iran won, that would be the first time that Iran has earned the title and we'll head to the 2012 London Olympics too.

the sepahan managers and board are all assigned by the federation, and, the transfer committee is also responsible because the player formerly played a champions league match for persepolis 2 years ago, and htats when he got the suspension, the board should tell the managers if a player is legible for play, bonacic and his buddies all said they weren't told anything

and i pray for iran's victory, ishallah ghahreman beshimo sarvare asia shim (hastim), an olympic birth will be lovely

well, Bahrain currently is a crisis-hit country. honestly I expected that we could crush them with more than 3 goals but I thought the possibility was like 50%. This is what happens when you put your national team players into the jail and replace a bunch of low-quality players in the team instead of 'em. but they deserved it anyways.

Hadi Saei appointed technical manager of Iran taekwondo team

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Hadi Saei has been appointed as the technical manager of Iran’s national taekwondo team.
At a session held at the headquarters of the Iran Taekwondo Federation in Tehran on Saturday, Saei was selected to be the new technical manager of the Iranian team tasked with preparing the team for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
In addition, Fariborz Askari was chosen to replace Reza Mehmandoost, who resigned, as the head coach of the team during the session.

Saei won gold medals in taekwondo at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The 35-year-old also won a bronze medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

The 22-year-old world athlete proved himself a modern-day Hercules after he elevated 214 kilograms in the snatch section on Sunday, Mehr News Agency reported.

He eclipsed the previous record set by Iranian icon Hossein Rezazadeh, who had snatched 213 kilograms in 2003.

Salimi, the World Weightlifting Championship and Asian Games gold medalist, was successful on his first attempt at 201 kilograms, and then lifted 209 kilograms for the second. He managed to elevate 214 kilograms overhead in his third attempt.

The Iranian weightlifting champion lifted 250 kilograms in the clean and jerk.

Salimi collected two gold medals and was crowned as undisputed weightlifting champion of the event after he elevated a total of 464 kilograms overhead.

Meanwhile, Iran's Sajjad Anoushiravani earned a bronze after he lifted 198 kilograms in the snatch section.

He fetched the silver medal after he elevated 241 kilograms in the clean and jerk section of the 2011 World Weightlifting Championships on Sunday. Anoushiravani stood second with 439 kilograms in total.

The 2011 World Weightlifting Championships opened in the French capital city of Paris on November 5 and wrapped up on November 13.

The sports event served as the qualification competition for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Sven-Goran Eriksson is being lined up to take a coaching job in Iran, just a day after the Government ordered UK banks to cut all ties with the rogue nation.
Fears about Iran's continued attempts to develop nuclear weapons led to the sanctions, with the rest of Europe and the US set to follow suit in the next few days.

But The Sun reports that the former England boss is in talks over a £1 million offer from Tehran-based club Persepolis FC, one of the top football clubs in Asia.

The club have claimed that they are in talks with the 63-year-old Swede - only recently fired by Leicester City - about taking over the reins.

Eriksson is apparently considering making a trip to Dubai to meet Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian, the paper adds.

Iranian joy after another incredible win, this time over Argentina

http://www.fivb.org/visasp/GetPhoto.aspx?type=press&no=33136&maxsize=450
Osaka, Japan, November 25, 2011 - Iran posted a five-set victory (15-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16, 15-12) over Argentina on the second day of second-round action in the 2011 FIVB Men's World Cup at Osaka Central Gym on Friday. The victory was the fourth in five games for the Asian champions. Julio Velasco's squad was down 2-1 but rallied for yet another win. Pourya Fayazi registered a match-high 18 points and was named the most impressive player of the match. Hamzeh Zarini and Mohammad Mousavi added 15 points each for the winners. Federico Pereyra paced Argentina with 17 points. Iran made the key plays at crucial points throughout the match and emerged triumphant as a result.

Both teams entered the match with 3-1 records. Argentina was in front 8-4 at the first TTO of the opening set. A spike by Pereyra gave the South Americans a 10-6 lead. Iran took a timeout while trailing 12-6 as Pereyra tallied three early points. A nice option play spike by Fayazi made it 12-7. Fayazi had two blocks as the score went to 15-10. Argentina was up 16-10 at the second TTO. Argentina roared out of the timeout and scored eight straight points to reach set point. Iran held off five set points before Argentina finished it on a spike by Sebastian Sole. Facundo Conte had six points in the set for Argentina, while Pereyra added five. Fayazi had four for Iran.

Iran led 8-5 at the first TTO of the second set, behind five points from Fayazi. With Iran in front 10-5, Argentina called a timeout. A service ace by Pablo Crer made it 11-8. Alireza Nadi's service error took the score to 14-11. A Bazargade spike gave an Iran a 16-11 lead at the second TTO. With Iran up 18-15, Argentina took a timeout. Zarini soared for a spike to put Iran up 21-18. A poor serve by Mariano Giustiniano gave Iran set point at 24-21. Iran claimed the set 25-21 on a net infraction by Solé. Fayazi had seven points in the set.

Argentina was ahead 8-6 at the first TTO of the third set. A Conte spike made it 10-8 for Argentina. Iran equalized at 11-11 on a dink by Fayazi and took a 12-11 lead on a block by Mousavi. Argentina fought back with four straight points for 15-12. A powerful spike by Conte sent Argentina into the second TTO ahead 16-13. A service ace by Mousavi brought Iran within 20-16. A nice swipe by Conte made it 22-19 for Argentina. Zarini's service ace brought Iran within a point at 22-21, but his next serve was too long. Iran leveled at 23-23 on a block by Amir Ghafour and Argentina took a timeout. Conte soared for a spike to make it 24-23 and Iran called a timeout. A block by Ghafour kept Iran in the set, but then he served into the net and Crer's block gave Argentina the set 26-24. Zarini had six points in the set, while Conte tallied five.

Iran took a quick 4-0 lead in the fourth set. Mehdi Mahdavi's spike put Iran up 7-3. Iran had an 8-5 lead at the first TTO. Luciano De Cecco executed a beautiful reverse dink to make it 9-7. A block by Ghafour gave Iran a four-point lead at 11-7. Down 12-7, Argentina took a timeout. Solé's spike made it 12-8. Fayazi's spike saw Iran lead 16-11 at the second TTO. Ghafour's spike put Iran up 18-12 as they took control of the set. Mousavi's service ace took it to 21-12. Iran took a timeout while leading 23-15 and then claimed the set moments later on a spike by Alireza.

The Iranians went ahead 5-4 in the final set on a spike by Fayazi. A Mousavi block took Iran to a 7-4 advantage. Iran led 8-5 at the TTO following a service error by Argentina. After another Iran spike, Argentina took time out while behind 9-5. Argentina responded with three points to pull within 9-8, but then Ghafour delivered another spike for 10-8. A missed spike by Rodrigo Quiroga put Iran within two points of victory at 13-10. Mousavi's spike took it to match point and 14-11, but Argentina fought back with a spike. The match ended fittingly with a final spike by Fayazi.

Iran coach Julio Velasco: "We are very happy with this victory. Argentina is a strong team but a young one. We served very well today. Our system of blocking and defense worked well. (Mehdi) Mahdavi is a setter who blocks very well".

Argentina coach Javier Weber: "In all sets we had a very difficult game. It was tight. Our problem was in attacking. Then our blocking and defense didn't work. It was the combinaton of those that led to the result today".

Iran captain Alireza Nadi: "They have a lot of experienced players. We had good tactics for blocks. We blocked better from the second set. (Since Velasco took over) Our mentality is changed. Everybody is working together for one goal. We have gained good experience from recent tournaments we played in".

Argentina captain Rodrigo Quiroga: "They played a great match. Their blocking and serving put us under pressure. We didn't play good in attack. We have to think about the next match. The next three matches (against Brazil, Russia, Italy) will be difficult for us".

tickets are really cheap , like 3 dollars for a game

so a game with 50000 people can generate 150000

they get tiny budgets from the government

ashkan dejagah, the iranian raised in germany, from wolfsburg (club) which also played in the u21 national german team (thats pretty huge) , after years of negotiation has been allowed to play in iran and arrived in tehran last night and participated in the team's morning practice, sadly, islamic new agencies tried to make a big deal out of his tattoos to stir up some drama, however, the federation president, kafashian , who attended the training session said that dejagah has no "moral issues" (the stupidest thing on earth) and can play

funny thing is that other players like aghili i believe and some on the national basketball team also have tattoos but thats never mentioned

u mean the national team?
out of all the things about our retarded sports system u choose the only thing thats not wrong?
azadi is the national stadium and the home of the national team
iran has been playing there for 40 years

besides, even azadi isnt up to date and professional enough, and doesnt even have as much training facilties, its still shamefull when foreihgn teams come and practice in tire junk yards (happened to s korea a while ago when they came to tehran) and thats the best we have, other cities dont even have fifa approved pitches or even the crap that tehran has

iran isnt germany

if something happens, it will be our own fault. i mean afc and fifa are always looking to ban iran when they find something. they did it also in 2006 and i would not wonder if they disqualify us, if they find something. america, israel and the arabs will now push for this of course.

remember before world cup, that crazy warmonger mccain asked fifa to ban us from world cup!

Sepahan successfully kept the cup in Isfahan for another year.

A player can pass his compulsory military service by playing in one of the military owned teams for two years. Tractor is one of them, so Hajsafi has to play there for another year and then he can play wherever he wants!

Terrible game of football yesterday.

i wasnt overly dissapointed with the style of play, but the strength in execusion was horrible

we had posession but no real plan, its like someone forces us to do horrible crosses for no reason to an empty penalty box, they need to learn to be patient and keep the ball for as long a possible if there are no openings
and ansarifard is the most overrated player in iran's sport history
we have no real finisher, a real target man that u can count on like ali daei or hashemian, we really need another daei
i think ghazi would do much better than ansarifard, hes a bit slow but he is big strong and doesnt do that stupid in pa un pa crap in front of goal , he just smashes the ball at goal, his like irans ibrahimovic

im worrying about our next games (autumn)

The Greco-Roman wrestlers have a fantastic coach. Banna is world class.

Also the weightlifters have Koroush Bagheri, Rezazadeh and that Hungarian guy. I agree their situation is not good, but these guys have a much better situation than athletes 15 years ago who could barely afford shorts!
Regardless, they deserve much more support and may they continue to make a nation happy!

of course, but remember , these coaches dont make that much nor are the athletes supported

for example (i think it was rezaei) sells letus and watermelons behind his blue nissan with his brother to support his family, hes a real man, sadly, they arent given even 25% of the treatment many other countries give their athletes

noshad alamiyan says he practices in his garage with no coach because he cant afford proper facilties, this happens while many mediocre athletes from lets say a country like spain get many sponsors etc none of our archers had coaches

banna is an amazing coach, he was the worlds best coach in 2011, but what he does is off his heart and bravo to him, but he deserves more financial support , imagine what we would become then

and dont even get me started on women's sports lol , this is half our current ability, if our women were free , we could have twice as many medals

all in all i am very proud of iran's olympic athletes, all of them, they really made me HAPPY in iran's sporting world

a thing to learn from the soosool millionaire footballers of our country that feed off a corrupt mafia and arent worth any money either than a few

because haddadi became the second place the Iranian government will give him 150 gold coin and also the Irancell will give him 50 million toman. the shardari will also support him.

Iran has 4 golds while Japan has 2 golds. remember its harder to take gold. I think haddadi and maybe 3 or 4 other athletics didnt have coach.

The iranian goverment will give for who wins gold medal 200 gold coin, for the silver medal 150 gold coin and for the bronze medal 100 gold coin. while irancell will give 100 million toman for gold, 50 million for silver and for the bronze 33 million. the iranian governmnet will give a salary of 100 miilino toman for banna to stay in team.

during the shah era iran only won 4 gold medal out of 8 participation while during khameni era iran had won 11 gold medal out of 6 participation

iran has the best wrestling coach, iran has the best takwando coach. iran has the best weightlifting coach. the reason why iran hasnt have coach for haddadi is that because iran is not good at athletics. after this silver the iranian government will support haddadi and wait until 2016 and you will see iran has 14 gold medals.

do you know that half of US medals are from swimming. for swimming you can get more than 90 medals(if you add the silver and bronze) while in wrestling 14 and for weightlifting 7. you must accept it that iran sport has improved. I am sure the iranian government have plan for the next 20 years. this year iran will be in top 15, after 10 years iran will be in top 10 and after 20 years Iran will be in top 5. you must be happy.

LOL i remember after guangzhou 2010 they said they will give the winners apartments especially the women then they didnt!!!! because the women didnt have husbands !! WTF, stupidest reason ever? and the men didnt either
but these guys probably will get the gold coins, BUT WHATS THE POINT?? these guys need to be supoorted before the games and train using the money not after!!!! lol
its like giving gasoline to a car when the trip is over

you are not getting the point , irans sport is not better than japans, if we win the world cup tomorrow , does that mean we are better than spain and germany? no
oir athletes performed better than japan for gold, but that doesnt mean we are better
japam still has more medals in a wider sport range
kazakhtstan has more gold than us, does that mean they are better than iran, holland germany etc? lol

and why do relate to shah? who is talking about that? and you cant even compare
irans population back then was 30 million, now its 75 million and sports all across the developing world have improved, iran, at its development back then could carry that many medals and its fine, and sport was far less "proffessional" back then in iran , we have to get thos many medals today, its not something extra ordinary and its irrelevant to the government

i can also say iran won 3 asian cups in shahs time and made the olympics in football and hosted the 1974 asian games, also back then iran also had chicken fot people to eat and our money was worth something, but NONE of that has happened after the revolution because people like ali abadi and a bunch of other thieves run iran's sport

again, why dont you understand ? I AM HAPPY and VERY PLEASED by iran's performances and athletes , what i said is that its even more amaying for these guys to win because alot of them dont get the financial support and facilities etc that many other coubtries get, and that we havent beaten japan in sport yet

yousef karami really dissapointed me today , what a poor performance
and same by sousan hajipour but i dont really blame her

and goudarzi won silver, his american rival was clearly superior and controlled the match

sad thing is goudarzi has lost to the same guy twice before yet hadnt thought of a tactic to try to over come him, but anyway he fought hard , still proud

iran has 5 more wrestlers, it will be amazing if we win gold in each weight class

LOL i remember after guangzhou 2010 they said they will give the winners apartments especially the women then they didnt!!!! because the women didnt have husbands !! WTF, stupidest reason ever? and the men didnt either
but these guys probably will get the gold coins, BUT WHATS THE POINT?? these guys need to be supoorted before the games and train using the money not after!!!! lol
its like giving gasoline to a car when the trip is over

you are not getting the point , irans sport is not better than japans, if we win the world cup tomorrow , does that mean we are better than spain and germany? no
oir athletes performed better than japan for gold, but that doesnt mean we are better
japam still has more medals in a wider sport range
kazakhtstan has more gold than us, does that mean they are better than iran, holland germany etc? lol

my neighbour friend who lives in Tabriz won an asian games medal and he got a apartment in central Tabriz. if you are sure that they didnt got an award then send me the link to see it.

the wrestling team trained for 9 month, the teakwando team trained for 9 month. yousef karami didnt see his parent for 4 month, but he lost.

kazekhstan is better than iran if they got more gold medals. remeber getting gold model is harder than getting silver.

30 years ago the poulation of USA was 200 million and know 310 million. hamdollah know the price of the chicken is 53 toman one week ago it was 10 toman. during the shah era the killed our national hero like takhti, etc.. by the way haddaddi had thanked the iranian federation because they supported him before the olympics games.

irans sport had improved for example 4 years ago iran was ranked 51 and know iran is ranked 14 in the world. ahmadinejad had planned well. everybody in Twitter said that we must learn from iran. And also ahmadinejad gave Saeid Abdevali 200 million toman + 200 gold coin. because he is our hero. and we must thank Ahmadinejad, dr abbasi and aliabdai too they worked hard.

interesting read from the page from above

The Bitter Truth, a remarkable article.

On Wednesday , ISNA football reporter wrote this article about the realities of sport in Iran.

The jest of this remarkable article is what I have personally believed in for many years which is the media in Iran bloating, marketing, boasting, exaggerating football and footballers in Iran to a degree which is detrimental to the other sports that have achieved so much glory with a fraction of the money that being spent on the Billionaires footballers.
Iran’s football has under-performed and has been getting poor results. Perhaps the biggest day of the last two decades was when Aziz scored the Equalizer in Sydney in 1997 to qualify for the World Cup after 30 odd years. That was not even winning any cup, Since that day , 4 Asian cups has come and gone and Iran Achieved NO trophy , bar the 3rd ranking in China in 2004.

The article admits that the sport media, specially the football media has misguided the masses in turning people such as Gordan , Bengar & Nekounam into superstars , while the real champions and true superstars were the Iranian sportsmen in London who achieved Gold and glory for the nation.

It is a very interesting article and an admission of how media misuses its power to channel the public opinions.

I realize that many do not read Persian, I tried to use a translator , but frankly , it did a poor job. I will try to do it myself, if I have time , but no promises.

Enjoy.

Player number 9 is amazing
yeah, they could trash our seniors any day of the week lol

We won the U-16 championships in 2008, what happened? Nothing. I don't understand why European scouts don't come after Iraqi, Iranian boys when our boys are clearly stronger, more fit and 10 times more skillful (as both teams are proving on the field of play) than those pre-teen looking Australian boys.

Let's hope both Iran and Iraq can represent in the WC. It's very unfair how Euro scouts overlook West Asians like this.

btw, Iran/Iraq/UZB + Japan representing Asia in the WC (3 from West Asia, 1 from the East). Good to see Kroea sitting this one out. They get on my nerves (not b/c I hate them, but b/c I'm jelous )

I remember Pas playing in Ekbatan from a few years back and the pitch never looked this bad.

I guess since the stadium is empty most of the year and only gets used for practice, they didn't bother with the pitch.

Our seniors act as if they're doing us a favour by showing up to the game. We got a glance of what we could've had if we didn't have IR. If we had a proper league and a proper democratic country, we would see these results against every Asian nation.

by the end of the 70s iran won 3 asian titles in a row and went to the world cup for the first time
iran was growing out of the asian level
if it hadnt been for the İR , iran would of had one of the best leagues in the world maybe

So all the advances we have made lately has meant nothing?!? Best olympics ever, going to the world cup of basketball first time ever, vollyball worldcups, paralympics best performance ever?!?!

Not to even mention the olypmpics of science, physics, mechanics, etc. We are now in most of these areas top 10 in the world.

Yes of course the early years were war. Longest war in modern time and yet we are now here.

But lets be a little fair. This has nothing to do with IR, and everything doesn't have to be made IR this IR that...

I could argue with the same logic these advances lately are because of IR.

read the post again haji ;)
we are talking about football
the same football that hasnt made the olympics in the past 30+ years or won ANYTHİNG
not weightlifting or other cheap olympic sports
btw, winning a few golds doesnt explain why the olympic wrestling team has a net value of 800000 $ while javad nekounamc , an overrated player is payed 4 million a year

and about paralympics, if it wasnt for the war, we wouldnt be as advanced there either

how smart the average population is or how much iranians care for science is fairly irrelevant to football or the İR
if the İR cared, they wouldnt deny women of over 70 uni. topics, or not give bursaries etc
u have to also remember that the few useful foundations of these were layed long ago, but thankfully, due to the lack of money generation, sports like volleyball and basketball have improved and stayed out of corruption
anyway, as u said, alot of those things arent related to the İR, at least, not in a black and white manner

but football specifically has almost everything to do with the İR because it is a market run by a government organ, iran's football is garbage right now thanks to the lack of professionalism that is driven by the likes of kafashian and his elders, not to mention its a market place for thieves
our football is corrupt and run by certain "mafia groups", this is an almost undeniable fact which everyone knows
our biggest clubs still dont have private training grounds, nor proper managment, and lets not even mention smaller clubs

we are talking about football
the same football that hasnt made the olympics in the past 30+ years or won ANYTHİNG
not weightlifting or other cheap olympic sports
btw, winning a few golds doesnt explain why the olympic wrestling team has a net value of 800000 $ while javad nekounamc , an overrated player is payed 4 million a year

and about paralympics, if it wasnt for the war, we wouldnt be as advanced there either

how smart the average population is or how much iranians care for science is fairly irrelevant to football or the İR
if the İR cared, they wouldnt deny women of over 70 uni. topics, or not give bursaries etc
u have to also remember that the few useful foundations of these were layed long ago, but thankfully, due to the lack of money generation, sports like volleyball and basketball have improved and stayed out of corruption
anyway, as u said, alot of those things arent related to the İR, at least, not in a black and white manner

but football specifically has almost everything to do with the İR because it is a market run by a government organ, iran's football is garbage right now thanks to the lack of professionalism that is driven by the likes of kafashian and his elders, not to mention its a market place for thieves
our football is corrupt and run by certain "mafia groups", this is an almost undeniable fact which everyone knows
our biggest clubs still dont have private training grounds, nor proper managment, and lets not even mention smaller clubs

To keep things civil i will not respond as I like any persian have a response to everything!!

SoroushPersepolisi
October 2nd, 2012, 04:35 AM
u can respond i dont mind but irans football is in a very dark period due to the terrible management
u cant deny that , its a FACT
look at the sponsorship/income/spending and budgeting, look at the poor quality of the league
look at all the wasted talent

irans youth teams are allways amazing but as soon as they go 21+ they crash, there is a reason

such things are evident and are very much discussed everywhere

im assuming u arent a fan of 90? i mean, i dont even see how u are happy of irans footballing situation, a country that is enriched in pure talent and potential

it would be a miracle if we make the world cup directly
something that 10 years back would of been different, although we didbt make the 2002 wc, we werent hopeless on the pitch

when u loose to lebanon, tie qatar 0-0 at home and almost concieve 5 goals from uzbekistan, with "million dollar" players, it just shows everything wrong in the system

sad result, although the reffing was 100% against iran, almost 4 of skokaj's offsides were clean runs

very sad result, heartbreaking

sepahan has been weakened alot due to many of the players leaving, but still, they are the best in iran and hopefully they will come back stronger next season (feb), thanks to the absolutely unfair marketing of players and budget distribution of the league

note: a few of the u16 team is amazing, especially mazloum who scored an incredible goal today, lets pray these talents will be taken to europe as soon as possible so they stay away from all the false money and poor, corrupt iranian league that destroys the best of players

Soroush, Since the 80's our countries have suffered from the CIA backed war thats only purpose was to destroy our influence and divide cohesion, While backing despotic Gulf regimes they funded both the IR(contra) and Saddam with weapons because they didnt want a side to dominate. Any ways, the sanction from 2005 must have trickled their way down to Iranian football finances. On the bright side, You still have the Azadi, I just had to watch my NT play in Qatar with 500 crowd, because corrupt FIFA thinks Baghdad cant host a match when the Local league finals are full of spectators and helicopters flying with safety. agreed.

you can't fool around in european leagues even if its belgium league 2...

also, they have probably have more serious/professional training programs and facilities.

gucci and dejagah actually have drive, they push themselves. the rest are so loose, i swear EVERY pass they try is just "hope for the best".

Gucci team in last season relegated to the second division and Gucci is leaving it. He already signed a contract with "The Standard Liege" one of the best teams and clubs in Belgium. "Standard" normally always qualify to "Europa league" (although this season they are not in Europa League). I think his team is even better that Wolfsburg and much better than Osasana, because they also play in "Europa League" where matches are more difficult.

I don't understand why every body only highlights the second division Belgian League. Gucci will play there only till December 2012, he is on the Loan to Sint-Truiden Team.

My second comment is on the word "Dorageh", is it difficult for Iranian to realize this? Both their parents are Iranians, just because they moved to Europe, then they become "Dorageh"? Very similar to people who just go to turkey and then call themselves "Kharej Rafteh". I think we are many scientist, businessman, artist abroad and we should all be considered for any economical, political, scientific and sport events in Iran too.

Iran is not only for those who are inside Iran.

nah man it's not
It's not easy to rank 207 teams on the planet in a 100 percent fair manner.

In general the rankings are spot on. The top 20 though is very subjective.

If you go to the rankings table and click on diff countries you can see how the points are calculated. You can even calculate points ahead of time for every team. It's not the best, but it's as fair as it gets.

The rankings are also very impt. When pot selection comes up, you wanna be a top team. The saudis have a heck of a time in every tournament from now on b/c unlike before they're now in pot 2-3 for every tournament. That means they will always face a top team even in qualifiers. Also rankings are impt for friendlies. If you don't wanna pay top dollar for friendlies, you have to be top 30-40. Finally bragging right is impt too.

Unfortunately, TM deserved to lose. Terrible performance after the initial 10 minutes. If this is the level they're playing at, why do they deserve to play in world cup. arghhhh its so frustrating.

Btw, there seems to be some agreement that offside call was legitimate.

they're so unorganised, no plan, they can't put more then a couple passes together, they just can't create chances, they just couldn't supply goochi.

I wonder, what does querioz actually do....

CQ is doing the same thing over and over, playing an overly conservative 1 striker formation, with mohamad nouri as our defense-offence connection! ahhhh!

i knew a foreighn coach like him that has never been succesfful is useless, most foreign coaches are anyway ! only an iranian coach really can get into the system, or maybe an east european coach

we payed all this money we could of spent on facilities and youth to a set of careless coaches

we need a system ,a professional system, we have so much talent but it all goes to waste
and until we dont see major changes in iran, we wont see it in our sport

iran's sport is a small scale representation of many of the issues in iran

hey dude

Yeah Carlos Quieros after iran - S.korea match: Hero
Carlos Quieros after iran - Uzb match : Useless
We iranians , we are making mistake always and always
we are making same mistake to branco
He brought us one the most succesful iran's football result in our history but after world cup throw him like a ashghal .
Becuase we thought we will beat portugal something like 5-0 and we are going for the next round.
but if he after world cup stayed in iran
today iran was the first in asia , not the forth.
We all know iran should won that game but it was the referee mistake
Akhe mage bazi bashgahie ke adam bekhad 5-6 ta gol be uzbakistan bezane?
adam tu in bazia 1,2 ta gol mizane foqesh 3 ta.
ma irani ha faqat talab karim.faqat gol bezanim.akhe uzbakistan fulade khuzestan nis ke besh rahat gol zad.
we all know carlos quieros it's doing good , and if we lost , it was the referee or players mistake not C.Q.

queiros has used the same bad tactics over and over

he has made an amazingly strong defence but offence.....

i never really supported

i liked when he came at first but the realized such coaches arent any good for iran

ivankovic was one of our best coaches, he played perfectly into iran form of football

quieros is using a 1990s italian system but not realizing that our midfield doesnt really have any depth

but keeping him is the only option

and im still very positive about iran automatically qualifying , but, a loss in azadi is just shameful

I'm not talking about the result, i dont care about the result. i'm talking about the piece of shit they call football when they have the ball.

its embarrassing tbh. when uzbekistan had the ball they were on another level, their passing compared to us was so strong. and its just uzbekistan, they're not even that good of a team.

i've had a problem with queroz for the last 5-6 games. its been horrific all the way through. even the games we won, like vs uzbekistan. that was also an embarrassing performance. also vs south korea recently, very very poor performance.

the midfield is non existant, they have no clue what to do with the ball so before they even get to the halfway line its a huge lob over and 99% of times it goes to other team.

i don't even understand, they were actually playing football for the first 10minutes and then suddenly, deerrpppp.

Also, the referee made a legitimate call. so no you can't blame the referee. Any good team would have continued their domination and made sure they scored another goal, but iran fizzled off.
