I think every 2 seconds.

I guess every 5 seconds.

I just clicked on "new posts" and it displayed 150 posts made in the last 76 minutes - which means that at this time of the day a post is made about every 30 seconds.

On average, we get 6.000 new posts per day, which is 6.000 / 24 / 60 = 4.17 per minute, about one every 15 seconds. Also, last month we used 600 gigabyte of bandwidth, which is 20 gigs per day, 850 megabyte per hours, about 14 gigabyte per minute, hence 1 megabyte each 5 seconds. :)

Today we had over 5,900 posts and over 2,250 unique registered users visit the forums. And this was an unremarkable day which was slow, if anything.


The busiest time of day from what I can tell is around 5-8pmGMT, when it is late afternoon or evening in Europe, and midday in the Americas. However, due to the global nature of the membership, we stay quite busy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When some members are asleep, many others are awake. While we get a peak that often goes over 450 over even 500 simultaneous users, even the daily lull rarely drops below 200 anymore.


Compare this to Skyscraperpage, the other big highrise forum I Administer (though smaller than this one these days), and the difference is stark. They are quite busy for an extended part of the day, with 190-275 simultaneous users online from about 11am EST to 12am EST (that's 13 hours, not 1 hour)... but it steadily drops off overnight and in the morning. And from 5-7am EST, there may be as few as 30 users browsing the forums.

The Australians post when the Europeans sleep, and the Americans post when the Asians are sleeping!
