A restaurant chain from Vietnam. This restaurant is very well-designed so I think it deserves its own thread :)

Open one month ago and always fill up with people even after lunch and dinner hours.

Ngon Restaurant
60, boulevard Sihanouk TBS
Tel :023 987 151

A new concept between the buffet and the self service, more a food market. The food are preapred on demand, on differents stall/cooking place. We also can order for delivery on the table. A lot of various food, khmer and vietnamses are proposed. Dining in a large space, on table for 4 or 12 people. Decor with frangipanier trees, in an open space, beautiful lighted at night.

I walk pass the restaurat once (Pasteur St branch) and was amazed by the exterior design. Well, I didn't have much time to try all the food in HCMC.

Reasonable food prices, one bowl of pho cost around US$2.5. Almost half of their waiter/waiterness are Vietnamese and the other half are Khmer. Both interior/exterior designs are very attractive and the restaurant is always crowd with locals and foreigners.

Do they speak English?

A number of Pho Restaurants in Sydney's Viet suburbs has no English speaking staffs.

Oh my god...! In the end Ngon opening in p-penh.

I alway take train whole night from china border to Hanoi to take some Saigon food in this restaurant.

But in Hanoi the place is too narrow, lunch and dinner most everyday people come late no free place..they only sit and wait...me also sometime...!

Hopefully, the one in p-penh bigger size of the restaurent.

I am sure if business is so good you always have to wait for a seat, PP has plenty of rooms to allow it to open more branch.

One of my disappointment is the service. The waiter/waiterness are all standing aside and chatting (One waiter even complain to me he is tired ). I was asking if I can order another bigger size bowl of noodles but they don't understand.

This is what I hate about these Viet Restaurants, in Sydney, we ask for another bowl of boiled rice, the waiter keep on saying yes, yes, he understand, but it never did comes.

It is ok, if you can points to the pictures menu and tell them what you want, anything different, you are on your own.

Same in Little Saigon, California ! They should put a sign says, "No English !". They only accept cash !

Assume the food is good, then they can charge more.

In Vietnam, I am sure there are heaps of competitions on good Viet food, so they have to keep price down, whereas here, there may not be so much cheap good Vietnamese Restaurants.

Prehaps Cambodian food in Vietnam cost more as well.

Listen every Cambodian Chef here, Hanoi has no Cambodian Restaurants, if you can make good Cambodian food, you should be there first, and you can make heaps of money.

I saw many Cambodia restaurants in Australia, New Zealand.Perhaps Cambodia Food similar to Thai and the South Vietnam but different from northern Vietnam

That's because the number of Cambodians living in Hanoi is small. In Australia you have many Cambodians living in Sydney.

Ngon Restaurants is a place that many Hanoi people choose during the weekend. Its price is not expensive as in the 5-star hotel. This is also a favorite place of many foreigners who come to Hanoi
