Most of these buildings are either Iconic, have sentimental value or are very ancient, especially the waterfront with the hotels and old fortress, so them being replaced by new/alien looking designs is highly unlikely. They will be restored to their former state. Public buildings such as the old parliament house are being regenerated as we speak.

There are pics around the net that could be posted but they really aren't appealing. Rather ugly actually.

Personally I think this is a good opportunity for it to be rebuilt from the ground up. At least the TFG could have done was beautify their controlled areas.

Unfortunately, virtually all of the buildings you just saw are vacant and riddled with bullets and shells. They were all located in the Bakara Market and that was the latest scene of fighting. They were beautiful just a few months back but turned to dust recently.

The Old city should be preseved and renovated as well as the center but I dont see the value of redoing the entire city, its too large and could use more up to date buildings and infrastructure.

It's beautiful to see Xamar coming back. I greatly admire it's people for keeping their heads up.

If this peace is kept up and the government gradually becomes more assertive, the city will be BOOMING in perhaps 1-2 years.

Right now, there are a lot of risk-taking people there taking advantage of this. They will be rich soon.

FAIT trucks are the best, but indeed, I agree with you their time has past and they need to retire them soon.

In addition, they (TFG) should build a new port for Mogadisho if they can get a new investment for it.

Mogadisho port is mismanaged as far as I know. It also needs repairs, because 20 years of non maintanance is long time.

Bosaso port is too small to serve south and central Somalia.

It is a place called Jazira which was formerly a suburb of Mogadishu, but because of the growth of Mogadishu in the past 20 years or so, it is now essentially part of Mogadishu for the most part.
