I dont know why i like this building but i do. I know its squat, kitsch and generally quite ugly but it adds some variety to the skyline - well that is my excuse for giving it an 8! :D

The main problem with this building is its height - it's too darn short!! In fact it's so squat it barely has any impact on the skyline.

I love the shape, which I think is very original and unique with its 'rounded' tops and arched silhouettes. The integration with street level is also excellent. Cladding could be improved slightly - perhaps with bolder and more striking use of colour; overall though it's good.

But damn, this building needs to be AT LEAST 50% taller! Then I'm sure it would look awesome.

7.5 overall.

Ugh I hate the cheap cladding, looks quite grubby now. However the shape and the fact that it isnt too tall adds quite well to the density and interest in the area. i think the height, mass and shape blends in quite nicely in reality, just really dont like the cladding... very post-modern

A decent midrise with an original design and very distinctive shape.

Nice creamy/beige colour too, and it integrates well with ground level.

The only problem is that it's rather stumpy, and doesn't have much impact on the skyline.

The building's name is now 20 Gracechurch Street. Its podium was remodelled to include retail usage either side of the main entrance on Gracechurch Street and along Lombard Street and give an externally more contemporary, inviting and less ornate appearance.
