Hillis September 6th, 2004, 07:00 AM Great pic
416 September 6th, 2004, 07:33 PM Now that's a great looking building. Properly scaled at street level, good materials, slender. The little park being built in conjunction with this will be a nice addition to the area.
TheAlmightyFuzz September 6th, 2004, 08:30 PM Amazing...only about 3 floors to go! I'm anticipating what they're gonna do with the roof...are they gonna have that design or just leave it. :(
Buster September 6th, 2004, 11:25 PM Absolutely stunning.
I wish more buildings in Toronto looked like 18 Yorkville: simple and elegant.
valantino September 7th, 2004, 05:41 AM "I wish more buildings in Toronto looked like 18 Yorkville"
Me too - luckily 18 yorkville represents the first of many towers of this style
KGB September 7th, 2004, 06:39 AM Actually, wouldn't Radio City's twin towers qualify first?...same architect, same basic design...finishing first.
KGB
salvius September 7th, 2004, 07:22 AM THIS, we need more of.
DanfromTO September 8th, 2004, 04:21 AM I completely agree.
I love this style of tower and im glad that toronto is going to get quite a few more of them.
scarbmike September 8th, 2004, 05:41 AM Is there significant and accessible retail at the bottom of the tower?
KGB September 8th, 2004, 06:45 AM The Yonge street side of the tower will have ground floor retail...but the building has a small floorplate, so I wouldn't call it significant. There might be some retail on the Scollard street side of the smaller building as well...not sure.
But the Yorkville side of the site will include a small public park designed by Janet Rosenberg. This will really look nice next to the old library building and that 1878 firehall. Now all someone has to do is buy that car dealership further west, and put something nice there.

Mr Man September 8th, 2004, 07:32 AM Anyone have any pics of Radio City. It can't be that much better than 18 Yorkville.
valantino September 8th, 2004, 09:09 AM "Now all someone has to do is buy that car dealership further west, and put something nice there."
I think someone did - thought I saw a application billboard out front the other day.
DanfromTO September 9th, 2004, 01:57 AM In my oppinion, 18 Yorkville is much better than radio city.
It is more attractive and it is taller than both of the Radio City buildings.
But radio city is gonna be completed first and its futher downtown
DanfromTO September 9th, 2004, 02:01 AM Also,
im pretty sure that the quantim of the minto midtown has started construction, can anyone confirm this?
and i think there is another condo on the north side of Eglinton between Yonge and Mt. Pleasant that has aslo just started construction is this true?
Skybean September 9th, 2004, 03:53 AM Not sure about Minto Midtown if you go to the Minto website, they have a webcam which will supposedly give you an image of what's going on, but nothing is appearing for the image for me. Don't know if you can see anything..

Minto is building another tower in North York City Centre. North York is booming as well.

Mr Man September 9th, 2004, 04:07 AM I'm no so convinced the final product will turn out similar to the renderings, like many residential developments in the city. 18 Yorkville is a real pleasure, the few times the built-as is better than the rendering. But I guess we'll soon see... it must be nearing completion by now. Radio City has been around forever.
Skybean September 9th, 2004, 04:11 AM There's a pic from Emporis taken in June.

Looks good so far, thanks.
Are Be September 9th, 2004, 07:01 PM The Minto Gardens in North York... OK, they are tall, and they add to the quanity of buildings --- but, wow, they'd make Tridel blush! TRUE, GRAND SCALE, STINKERS!
Ed007Toronto September 9th, 2004, 07:11 PM Minto Midtown has indeed started construction. They are working on the retaining walls for the base of the building.
Lukephaz September 27th, 2004, 08:20 AM Amazing...only about 3 floors to go! I'm anticipating what they're gonna do with the roof...are they gonna have that design or just leave it. :(
I have a nice view of this building from where I live (beside Manulife Centre) and they've finished all the floors and are pouring concrete for what I assume is the supports for the roof design.

DanfromTO September 27th, 2004, 11:38 PM Dude sweet pics
is it topped off yet?
Filip September 28th, 2004, 12:57 AM That is one seriously good looking building.;)
salvius September 28th, 2004, 02:44 AM Damn, this thing kicks ass. Too bad I don't have large amounts of spare cash to invest.
DanfromTO September 28th, 2004, 03:45 AM Anyone know its height?
p5archit October 1st, 2004, 04:44 PM Wow!! Certailnly makes a huge difference to what was there before. Look how much it has changed the streetscape, it blends in with the houses quite well, while remaining very different from its style!!
nice proportions too!!

Are Be October 1st, 2004, 05:20 PM The Bloor - Yorkville area - um- excluding Yorkville - is getting a Manhattan kind of feel to it .And this building adds to it.

bizorky October 1st, 2004, 06:39 PM I agree!
This building has turned out to be better than anticipated!
Are Be October 1st, 2004, 06:54 PM Where's the shitty green galss?
Oh, the exception that proves the rule! (re cheap out look of Toronto.)
I like the 2nd last picture, KGB. (Enough buildings for a skyline of a medium sized Canadian city in that photo alone.)

Is it in your nature to NEVER be positive?
Mr Man October 1st, 2004, 07:11 PM Is it in your nature to NEVER be positive?
Don't forget, he's a lawyer. :bash:
SpatulaCity October 1st, 2004, 09:31 PM ^That explains a lot!!!
Yorkville is looking mighty fine by the way...
cassius October 1st, 2004, 10:38 PM Beauty, KGB. That's turning into one sexy building.
alex h1 October 1st, 2004, 10:59 PM That second shot is fantastic!
This is shaping up to be one of those rare projects that actually looks better than the renderings - and the renderings looked amazing.
Are Be October 1st, 2004, 11:39 PM KGB- can you please put back what was formerly the 2nd last picture?
